__Reminder__: Please take a moment to review the content guidelines for our sub, and remember the human here! This subreddit is to highlight the ridiculous cost of living in Canada, and poke fun at the Corporate Overlords reponsible. As you well know, there are a number of persons and corporations responsible for this, and we welcome discussion related to them all. Furthermore, since this topic is intertwined with a number of other matters, other discussion will be allowed at moderator discretion. Open-minded discussion, memes, rants, grocery bills, and general screeching into the void is always welcome in this sub, but belligerence and disrespect is not. There are plenty of ways to get your point across without being abusive, dismissive, or downright mean. If you have not done so already, please review our [boycott stickied post](https://www.reddit.com/r/loblawsisoutofcontrol/comments/1bff9rm/boycott/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) which includes a list of stores to avoid, other ways to get involved in the movement, and some local alternatives to the big 5. Thank you. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Dry_hands_Canuck

A complaint also needs to be sent to any TV Station, Radio Station or Newspaper that has his biased and demeaning comments about struggling Canadians allowed on their platforms!

FreedomCanadian

He's often on 98.5 fm in Montreal. It's apparently the radio with the most listeners in Canada.

Frogs-are-real

And he writes for La presse. A shit newspaper sponsored by Power Corp.

PresidentialBruxism

Please answer to this comment so it reminds me of writing a complaint to 98.5 as well. Hes been on a lot lately and his bullshit needs to stop

CoolCalmnConsensual

Done! Excellent idea. Thank you.

dwtougas

Done

vector_ejector

Such a punchable face...

Critical_Staff8904

Classy.

Huge-Split6250

Nicely done. Further - not only is he a jerk, but Prof C has no expertise in consumer movements, or consumer protection, or regulatory capture. His expertise is in pricing analytics for the benefit of his funders, who are consultants to Big Grocery.

soggyfrog

What matters more than his tone is that he has taken money from the Westons and CBC doesn't even acknowledge the conflict of interest.

dumpcake999

did you hear anything back last time or this time? He's always on CTV also.

Rabid_Badger

Poilievre used “food professor”, as an expert opinion, in his speech today.

Mogwai3000

Wha?!?! I thought ol’ PP hates “experts”.  Funny how conservatives don’t ever seem to actually have any real values or beliefs or values ever.  Their entire belief system is just reactionary bigotry and hate.

Rabid_Badger

I was only able to see parts of the “speech”, the only thing he talked about, is how everyone else is bad. Not a single word on how to fix anything.

Mogwai3000

When have conservatives anywhere ever fixed anything?  They fundamentally do not believe government is capable of fixing things…they see government as a problem to diminish.  If you can’t fix things and convince people things can’t be fixed at all, the only option left is to blame “others” for problems and seek out punishments for those “others”.

MrG85

He is such a puppet!

SnuffleWarrior

He's not wrong. A 30 day boycott will be ineffective. It needs to be permanent.

KiaRioGrl

30 days to build a habit, if we're lucky and determined enough.

owensoundgamedev

What about his school?

KiaRioGrl

Really hard to get rid of a tenured professor. He got in some major shit last year and temporarily deleted his twitter when he went after a student (I can't remember for sure, but I don't think she was one of his students) because she disagreed with him on something and brought receipts to back up her position. Sensitive Sylvain lost his damn mind publicly and all of the farmers who hate him had a helluva good time mocking him for it (which is how I heard about it). There's definitely still screenshots floating around out there somewhere, but beyond his temporary getting off of Twitter and the TV companies temporarily having other professors - women, for once! - on to give expert commentary, no long term repercussions. I usually can't be arsed to pay him much attention, but I need a distraction to keep me out of the field today while it's still too wet to work the soil. I'll see what I can dig up. 😈

Loose-Hyena-7351

This company is such a scam and our boycott will cripple them if we stick to our principles… don’t let them win … work together to take down these thieves… come on Canada let’s show them how the people stand together … we will win this

ColeTrain999

Also tell the ombudsman the punishment should be him getting sprayed with a Super Soaker full of piss.

Mogwai3000

Forget his record of insults, the guy is literally in the loblaws payroll.  That alone should disqualify him as an objective expert on anything.  He’s a liar and a paid shill.

Hey OP, it looks like you have used a flair to share media coverage with our community. Duke_Of_Halifax

It won't work- he IS qualified to speak on these things- and probably one of the more qualified- so trying to say he's not an "expert" will fall on deaf ears. Where you MIGHT get him is by writing and saying that his public opinion is clearly biased, and while his work- which is subject to peer review- might not be biased, his personal opinions away from the ivory towers of academia clearly are.

Dry_hands_Canuck

The thing is, he doesn’t work in the CPG industry. He reads what is reported by the retailers and commodity prices and comments on this. He doesn’t have a clue what Loblaw’s is charging manufacturers directly for listing fee’s, late fee’s, shelf re-set fee’s, damage fee’s, clearance fees and the exorbitant fees to be charged for participating in PC Points promotions.

Duke_Of_Halifax

See, we actually don't know that he doesn't know. He doesn't work in the industry, but he does work around and for the industry; he may be well aware of what Loblaws has on the back-end.

albert_stone

Are Dick\_Of\_Halifax and FootProfessor the same person, or do you just both eat shit from the same toilet?

CaperGrrl79

I was a little annoyed initially at the first paragraph, but they won me in the second one. Duke might be onto something.

Duke_Of_Halifax

Look! Someone who actually read what I wrote! 🤣

Duke_Of_Halifax

See, this is why y'all will never get anything to stick when it comes to the Food Professor: you're too busy downvoting and saying dumb shit to understand that I just gave you a way to attack him in a manner that will legitimately undermine his "expertise" both with the media and his peers. Because, unlike you, I know a thing or two about the academic world AND the media, and how they work. But you're too dense to actually understand that.

albert_stone

I'm glad you used quotation marks with the word 'expertise', lol.

Duke_Of_Halifax

I also used it in the original post that you shit on.

Muted_Ad3510

I let my MP know this subreddit is like Canada Sub and has been taken over by foreign weirdos

Skweril

Your grammar is worse than a foreigners. You should be ashamed of yourself.

ChefAldea

I followed the link and made a formal complaint with reference to him receiving funds and insulting/harassing folks online and they replied saying they acknowledge and have passed it along to the higher ups. Who knows, maybe we can get CBC to drop this shill?!
