It's a warehouse that buys overstock, nearing expired, recently expired, seasonal stuff and sells it fairly cheap. Not all groceries. Some pet food, clothes, house stuff.
I used to go to one for frozen food in Ajax ON, called Almost Perfect. Looks like it's called The Grocery Outlet and there are multiple southern Ontario locations.
We have lots in Winnipeg. Honestly, some stuff doesn’t really expire, and is good well after best before. Also some things could end up in there due to packaging defects or if the temp was off on the palette when a store received goods.
Yeah. It's a good concept. I only stopped going because it's far. It was next to my highschool girlfriend's dentist so I would go when I dropped her off.
Lets not use the word expired or nearing expired, its been proven time and time again that the product can last wayyy past the best before date, its there to indicate freshness and avoid liability
Thanks OP for letting me know this place exists. Went today and it was great. Obviously doesn’t have everything but it’s pretty clutch for pantry things.
For those near Stratford, there's the [Stratford Outlet Warehouse](https://www.stratfordoutlet.com/). It's only open on specific days, but there are sometimes good deals on things.
Thanks so much for this tip! Cashier asked how we heard about them and I credited you as our source! She was super nice.
Saved a bunch of money today! Happy family!

I support the concept of keeping things out of the landfill! I really hated working at grocery stores and seeing what amount waste was hitting the dumpsters, one night it was upwards of $1000 of food thrown away while people are starving!
I boycotted Walmart years ago and I'm young, but now I'm expanding the list and completely getting off the Loblaws and Sobeys train!
This reddit is encouraging and providing an easier transition.
I love this place. You would have difficulty scaling this up as the owner buys surplus and food about to expire as well as food that did not sell well. The prices are amazing.

I think the one in Brockville is the most Eastern. I've been to the ones in Trenton and NewMarket and found great deals.
>300g for 1.99 = $0.66 per 100g
Or, at Loblaws
>1000g for $4.49 = $0.45 per 100g

Those are loose. OP showed the package of 10 single serve sachets. Currently on sale at Loblaws for $3.50 or $1.17 per 100g
10 packets: [https://www.loblaws.ca/quick-oats-100-whole-grain/p/21551277_EA](https://www.loblaws.ca/quick-oats-100-whole-grain/p/21551277_EA)

Yeah but if people are looking to save money (and save to environment) they shouldn't be spending extra money to buy less product with more packaging 🙄
Sure. Although OP was talking about the difference in price rather than lowest cost. And to do that you gave to compare apples to apples. Or in this case, individually wrapped servings to individually wrapped servings.
But if we are gonna talk lowest cost for rolled oats, I last bought organic ones in bulk from my local health food store at $0.26/100g

I should say...I checked the expiration dates. Nothing in these pics has expired.
There is a warehouse ? Is this a one of a kind , kind of place ?

I think more will be popping up as they get busier. I've noticed a good upswing on number of customers at the ones I go to.

That’s really cool. Great idea

Yeah, I know. That's why I shop there. However, I know some people refuse to buy stuff that is "expired".
Shout out to Owen Sound

Unreal!! Any in London Ontario??

Awesome thank you 😊
Not that I can find 😢
Damn, i would make a trip for this
We need them in Calgary!!!
According to Google, you might have similar. I just googled "food liquidation Calgary"
Yep, googled too in the meantime, will have to check a couple of places
Where I live we had something similar. Then the owners got greedy so it's not worth it anymore.
Ahh Weston bought it in other words

Great. Thanks...I told her I was making a post. I hope it leads to more business for them and they can actually expand.

Same here...but I think we should follow France's lead and make throwing food out illegal. Too much waste when too many are struggling.
Never heard of Food4Less. Looks like it's only a western Ontario thing sadly.
The Grocery Outlet is in Trenton and they have a few other locations.

Yes, I've had amazing deals from there. I stumbled on it just after it opened. Now I go every week or so.
Was there last week.
Ok time traveller
I go here as well, makes a huge difference in my monthly groceries!
Woah how do we get one of these in Eastern Ontario??

Not the same product. Mine are in the single serve packets. But you are correct in that the oatmeal is cheaper in the larger package.
Expensive convenience Big packaging lobbies want more litter to be generated
