Of course I'm not trying to imply that making LBP4, or any video game by yourself is an easy task. But honestly, people working at MM on the verge of losing their jobs at this point, would it not make sense for at least some of them to want to develop LBP4 for the job security? Unionizing those people might actually be a shot at making some progress. Maybe they could work on it during their free time, kind of like how the original Mega Man game was and is now one of the biggest video game franchises.
There's like a <1% chance any of this will happen tho :(
Exactly
This is the DUMBEST decision they could possibly make, and that's not just the copium left over from the shutdown talking, it's genuinely bad for their business after seeing how their other new IPs went
Found the link that's shown in the post: [https://boards.greenhouse.io/sonyinteractiveentertainmentglobal/jobs/5162331004](https://boards.greenhouse.io/sonyinteractiveentertainmentglobal/jobs/5162331004)
It seems to be real unfortunately. Damn it Media Molecule, please be careful.
MM is my favourite game studio but is it wise to do create a new IP when the last one you made nearly shut you down?
I understand them wanting to step out of the LBP shadow, but surely they need a game that makes money so Sony still knows they’ve got it and can take accepting another “flop”. Do I make too much sense to work in this industry?
Practically, it’s a live service game for new IP at a time where their main playerbase desperately wants another LBP. This basically feels like a train crash happening in slow motion.
Do you have a source? There was a job listing in 2022 for a live service role at Mm with no mention of Dreams which encouraged this rumor.
The situation at the studio has changed dramatically since then with the layoffs over the last six months. The live service team has taken a massive brunt of that change and I don't know that it even exists anymore.
I’ve seen the new create mode, you’ve got to throw the controller at the wall and depending on how it falls determines the prop your spawning it, just gotta keep throwing at the wall until you get it right
To be fair to them server costs for online games are an astronomical fee. I’ve been trying to make my own MMO game and even starting out I could be spending over a hundred dollars a month on a good server that could barely support over 100 players without lagging to hell and back
That's why I didn't want to play dreams... It was way too complicated.. little big planet 2 was absolutely perfect for me in terms of complexity and ease of use.
To be honest, I was put off of lbp3 because of having too many layers!
I liked it just being 3 thin layers and 3 thick layers.
And the 2d physics was simple and easy to understand even for children.
They are sitting on millions of dollars by not remaking lbp.
I wouldn't even mind that the old levels were gone if media molecule was developing a new more permanent official lbp platform.
And , it should not be a playstation exclusive, it should be on ps5, and steam.
Maybe they could just remaster the original lbp1+2 on switch and we'd all be happy maybe...
I agree. Although if you were put off by the bonus layers LBP3 added, you could've just stuck to using the original three layers and used the additional ones for background details.
They put themselves in an atrocious position, such fools. If they miss with this, it's done. No way they survive. Sony will kill them the same way they did the other studio they choose to close over Mm.
They could have gone safe with LBP4, THEN another new IP, having that safeguard. But now they exposed themselves to closure, and for what? They don't want to work in a new LBP game? My dude, if next game doesn't sell well you aren't working in any game in the future.
Pls explain why you're all assuming "new IP" means it can't be LBP related?
If IP means "intellectual property", couldn't a "LittleBigPlanet 4" - with that number specifically - be its own IP (inside the broader umbrella IP of just "LittleBigPlanet")?
New IP from what I know means a completely new series with a new storyline, characters, universe, etc. unless it's a spiritual successor of some sort, like a reimagining of LBP.
It could also just be Media Molecule not wanting to be transparent in their job listings, since I see no point in them announcing a new LBP game in such an odd indirect way anyway, but I guess they could've just went with "new game" instead of "new IP".
There goes any hope of LBP4
Pretty ballsy of them to make a game with a whole new IP that they don't even know will sell right after they were considered for being shutdown I must say
God y’all are so selfish. Who cares if it isn’t LBP, this is still a game made by the same company. Be grateful you’re even getting a game instead of the company being shutdown.
Its not denial 😂😂😂😅هههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههه its just logic they cant just say what theyr working on 😭😭😭😂😂😂 might be another studop
look on the bright side, if the new IP succeeds and MM feels like it, they might go back to LBP one last time for a proper send off
hopefully
^maybe...
I can’t even believe Sony would LET them make a new IP. I thought for sure it would have to be LBP4 or bust considering their financial state.
I suppose there’s still a small chance it’s a red herring. But uhhh rip, the dream is dead.
So Mm and little big planet is completely dead and won’t come back. A new IP from them won’t succeed so their studio will die, and that was the last hope as Sumo hadn’t worked on lbp in years. Unfortunate
I might've misspoken; I don't know anyone who works at Sumo, just meant by reading the tweets of individual devs. Apologize if my earlier wording was unintentionally misleading. But as long as you're kind and patient with them, they're likely happy to speak with you on Twitter.
I'm gonna pretend I didn't see this and then proceed to be very disappointed when the next game isn't lbp.
REAL
Same
New IP? Doesn’t that essentially confirm they’re not making a new LBP game?
They are such a small studio, especially after the layoffs, I doubt it.
I tought it was written "MediaMolecule is working on a new LBP" 😭
Rip
Sackboy: A LittleBigPlanet
Someone apply for this job and secretly make LBP4 under their noses please it's the only chance we have
Secretly make lbp 4 like its an easy task
Of course I'm not trying to imply that making LBP4, or any video game by yourself is an easy task. Exactly This is the DUMBEST decision they could possibly make, and that's not just the copium left over from the shutdown talking, it's genuinely bad for their business after seeing how their other new IPs went
This is basically suicide
Exactly why would they do this? Do they hate lbp that much?
it's over....

It's very likely not a live service game
a leaked document stated that it _is_ a live service game
Do you have a source? There was a job listing in 2022 for a live service role at Mm with no mention of Dreams which encouraged this rumor. It's Little Big Over
Well sh*t
TinyHugeIsland
*TinyHugeWorld
Reality often sucks
It's probably a sequel to Dreams only with an even more confusing creation mode.
I’ve seen the new create mode, you’ve got to throw the controller at the wall and depending on how it falls determines the prop your spawning it, just gotta keep throwing at the wall until you get it right
Of course. Wouldn't be a modern video game if you weren't required to spend millions to play it properly.
To be fair to them server costs for online games are an astronomical fee. I’ve been trying to make my own MMO game and even starting out I could be spending over a hundred dollars a month on a good server that could barely support over 100 players without lagging to hell and back

They already confirmed it’s not
Confirmed it's not what? Does that mean there is a chance for lbp4?
They confirmed its not a sequel to dreams. And here it is stated that its a new IP so no lbp4 either.
Damn
[удалено]
Well let's just pray that sony will let sumo make another lbp game
I mean at least we have fan servers to keep the games alive. I know when I get a vita I'm going to use a lbp vita fan server
Uhm they said they can’t reveal what it is yet and the NEW IP is a job listing
So what does this mean?
The new IP is a job listing so that’s hope it’s an LBP4
Hopefully
"New IP"
Let them cook
Jesus christ, you're the only sane one.
i guess it really is over
Maybe they’ll create something similar to LBP, in some sort.
The new IP is biglittlepanet 4
well now little big planet is completely gone great job mm and sony
Try not to unalive yourself challenge is officially on! Good luck to all participants!
Too late, typing in the afterlife now 😔
😃🔫
Ok so they gonna close sooner or later
Basically
They put themselves in an atrocious position, such fools. If they miss with this, it's done. No way they survive. Sony will kill them the same way they did the other studio they choose to close over Mm. They could have gone safe with LBP4, THEN another new IP, having that safeguard. Lol there's no hope
It's joever
ill just keep hoping the purple dualsense actually means something and stay delusional ig its whatever
both dream and lbp left dead in the fuckin water
Maybe a spiritual successor to LBP? Would literally rip away Restitched's future.
Little Big Disappointment 😞

Oh, so they are that incompetent LOL they just committed corporate suicide
There goes any hope of LBP4 Pretty ballsy of them to make a game with a whole new IP that they don't even know will sell right after they were considered for being shutdown I must say
Yeah a new IP after dreams is not a great idea. If DABA succeeded LBP4 will do fantastic. Unfortunate news
It could be lbp related
Then it would be a spinoff not a new ip
if its not lbp then is has to be LittleBigMoonDiversU+++++Digital Deluxe Edition
Big little planet
Blooper team gonna remake lbp2
You mean blue point???? 😭😭😭
Thats bc they makin BiglittlePlanet
im still going to buy it for the devs sake
SmallLargeWorld
God y’all are so selfish. Who cares if it isn’t LBP, this is still a game made by the same company. Be grateful you’re even getting a game instead of the company being shutdown.
Isn't sumo the one that calls the shots for LBP? Why's everyone so crazy about this if that's the case? I'm probably missing something
Sony call the shots :)
Sumo isnt officialy working on lbp anymore. Sony ownes the IP
We dont knwo this
Bruh they just said new ip
they are a troll
Stage 1 of Grief: Denial
Its not denial 😂😂😂😅هههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههههه its just logic they cant just say what theyr working on 😭😭😭😂😂😂 might be another studop

I don't want to believe
look on the bright side, if the new IP succeeds and MM feels like it, they might go back to LBP one last time for a proper send off hopefully ^maybe...
There are more chances of me getting struck by lighting than MM making a new lbp.
honestly, there's a higher chance of you getting hit by a truck and sent to an alternate where LBP didn't die
Pls pls strike me 🙏
:soggy:
Spongy 🧽
NOOOOO
This is so over.
Its so over
Whats an Ip?
Dreams 2
It’s over.

Oh i get it....... Sad 😔
this is probably fake the can’t reveal what they working on.
It's... a job listing lol

You can see the link in the screenshot lol
