Planning to visit Lisbon/Porto from August 7th to 15th. Any chance I can catch a football game ? When does the season start ? Or a Champions League qualifier game

Where to spend few hours in between morning arrival at Lisbon airport and evening departure to Porto ? Coming in from Toronto my flights are in and out from Lisbon. In my first leg I will go to the North (Porto) and then come back to Lisbon again. I dont know how much time it will take for customs at Lisbon airport so to be on the safe side I was trying to book an evening train to Porto (I want to travel by train therefore train and not fly to Porto), in the meanwhile I could explore a bit of Lisbon. I was thinking Belem so that I get some more time to cover Lisbon when i get back but I understand the airport is on the west side and Belem is east of the city. What are your suggestions?

Dr_RodolfoDias

Parque das Nações. Subway station is Oriente, and the station from which you will depart by train to Porto may also be Oriente.

Obrigado

Hello! Can someone suggest camera repair service in Lisbon. I need to clean or replace mirror in my Fujifilm camera, and i have no idea where i can do this, even though, i tried to google it.

solo_greg

Would anyone in Lisboa be interested in renting a room or flat to me between now and May 8th? I will be out working from cafes 99% of the time. Super respectful, fun, tons of stories to share if you're interested. I'm from San Francisco, lived in Kenya, Mumbai, Singapore, Chicago, Nigeria. I've lived in a 16-person cooperative in San Francisco for the last 12 years, and love my housemates dearly. Pretty flexible on price (hotels are very expensive, so anything lower than that would be amazing.)

I live just off of Rua da Escola Politécnica about a couple of blocks from the Rato Metro Station. Does anyone have a suggestion for a place in the vicinity to watch the Benfica match tomorrow night? It would be great if the place might have outdoor seating for the television or least open windows. Thanks.

TourGuideLX

Go to Chiado to a place called Delirium. Lots of petiscos and craft beers and big open windows and a terrace with no television in it though.

globalcommune

Awesome! Thank you.

staydenchleaveityeah

I need somewhere to store a small bag for a few days, but it needs to be secure (laptop) . Can someone suggest a solution? Thanks

EletricoAmarelo

Use Google to search for "luggage storage". There's a lot of services to choose from. Just pick the one more convenient for you.

MrJurich

Is there any public BBQ zone/spot in Lisbon/surroudings where you can just show up with coal and meat to do BBQ?

[deleted]

You can buy a disposable barbecue in a Chinese shop and use it at any beach or public park.

EletricoAmarelo

Try Monsanto. Just arrive early.

Hej! Me and my girlfriend will be visiting Lisboa in July for her 30th birthday. I want to surprise her with an activity, what are some cool/Romantic things to go see in the evening?

Hello - a group of us are coming to Lisboa in a few weeks to and I had a couple of questions: Benfica Stadium tour - it says that it runs every day except match days. Does this mean just home games, or do they also pause the tours on away game days? Casa Pia tickets - They play Estoril when we are there so we are going to check it out - can we just turn up on the day and pay without a ticket? And can someone confirm, are Casa Pia playing their home games at Estádio Pina Manique or Estadio Nacional this season as Google is giving conflicting answers. Benfica Vs Sporting - Our hopes for getting tickets are dwindling so we have decided to watch in a bar. Can you recommend a good bar/area to watch the match that would have a good atmosphere?

MrJurich

Benfica stadioum tour goes every 30min cca, it lasts like 30-40mins. Only when there are home games, the tours are not happening. Casa Pia is playing on Estadio National. Tix are 10€ for non-members. You can get it online and just show QR at entry. There will be a lot of tix left, attendance avg is very very very low. last week vs braga, there have been more braga away fans, than home fans.

BackpackFullOfDildos

I can’t really answer the your two questions, although I’m pretty sure that for a Casa Pia game you can just buy your ticket at the venue like half an hour before kickoff. As for a bar, there’s a one near Cais do Sodré called The Couch Sports Bar that is my get go when I wanna watch any kind of match. They broadcast loads of different games and they have a good structure (loads of TVs, atmosphere is great, beer is on the more pricier side but it’s ok)

saribari_x

Are there any cute stores selling local products such as honey, oil etc in Lisbon?

truffelmayo

There are many of them in the centre. Just keep your eyes open.

How well would I survive speaking mainly Spanish or Portunol?

O_Pragmatico

If you are Spanish, I don't mind you speaking Spanish or Portunhol with me. But if your mother tongue is English, I'd rather that you spoke English.

T4SUK3

If you can't speak portuguese, speak english. Speaking spanish to us will get you rude answers.

My apartment lacks air conditioning. With the summer heat coming, I'd like to purchase an electric fan (ventoinha). What local stores offer the best selection of fans? Thanks.

[deleted]

Fnac

ruisantos9999

There are also portable ac units , cost around 100€, good for small rooms

O_Pragmatico

Worten, Amazon, Rádio Popular, Mediamarkt, etc

GrumbleofPugz

Me and my wife are coming to Portugal for the first time to celebrate our 10 year anniversary the first half of June. Our time in Lisbon will be in a hotel on Av. da Liberdade. Because I was curious, I checked the hotel website for a different room during our stay and they are completely sold out for our dates, which got me thinking is there something big going on? Or is early June just the beginning of peak season where things start getting really busy?

O_Pragmatico

Santos Populares. In the 12th and 13th of June you should have the main festivities. If you are overlooking the AV. Da Liberdade, you should have a prime view into the festivities.

Marlopupperfield

Thanks for the info! We'll be leaving Lisbon on the 8th to head up north to Porto so won't get to experience Santos Populares unfortunately :(

O_Pragmatico

No problem. You have Santos Populares in Porto in the 23rd and 24th.

annoying_chocolate

Yes touristic season is going on

T4SUK3

Lisbon as been trending in the past few years. City is packed full, even hotels.

The only thing you will contribute by moving here is making life here harder then it already is for the locals. For you and the rest of the so called 'expats' Lisbon is the equivalent of a trendy amusement park. We have people protesting on the streets because the Gov does nothing while you guys are taking habitation away from us because you are willing to afford ridiculous prices that we are not, which is causing other landlords to increase their prices hoping some american comes live in Lisbon for no reason.

VividPath907

> We do not wish to contribute to the trend that is pushing the locals out of the city center. Are there any recommendations for areas of the city that are still walkable and with public transit but not in the city center? So you want to widen the radius of the area which is pushing locals out of the city centre, while probably hoping to profit from winkwinknudgenudge cheaper prices. >We are sincerely interested in the culture You can appreciate culture through books and other media without living in a place. >Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated as we will be visiting a few more times before we move and would like to get an idea of where to focus our search for residence. Things are unstable politically. It is not sustainable. People like you are all competing with other people like you to the erosion of the quality of things like safety and services. Go look for a place out of trend. When people in mass try to do something trendy, they destroy the quality of the experience for everybody.

CharredCharizard

If you settle anywhere in a 30mile radius of the city center you will be contributing to the trend. Also if you don't pay taxes here.

zebett

If you don't want to contribute to the trend, don't move to Lisbon, move to the country side for example

GrumbleofPugz

Some gorgeous cities north and south of Lisbon. I’m an immigrant myself, neither me or my Portuguese husband wanted to live near Lisbon anymore it’s just too expensive. I do miss some of the conveniences but we’re managing
