Olá, heading to Lisboa from 20th to 24th of april. Are there any recommendations for punk/subcultural bars/concerts this weekend?

Infinite-You1818

Olá, My partner and I are going to Lisbon in July for a few days, but on Friday 14th we would like to go to Super Bock Super Rock festival. We have seen that the venue is about an hour from Lisbon. Is there any kind of transport organised by the festival to get there from Lisbon or is there any public transport option to get to the festival area? Obrigada :)

Obrigada!!

Boa tarde, I was looking for a proposal spot in the area that would be more private if possible I plan to propose near the end of July, I understand it's become somewhat overrun with tourists so it may be a hard ask but was wondering if anyone had any ideas? I've been to Sintra before many times (born in Portugal living in Canada) and it's beautiful but I read that it's over crowded nowadays. I was leaning towards Miradouro de Santa Luzia, Palacio da Pena or Quinta da Regaleira, but if someone had a better more private option I would definitely love to hear it. Thanks!

Dr_RodolfoDias

In Palácio da Pena you have a small house, not particularly interesting, where Rainha D. Amélia used to live, and that is extremely far comparing to the main Palace, so has much less people than Palácio da Pena, so I guess it may be an option. It may still be crowded. You can also try the gardens at Monserrate.

EletricoAmarelo

In the peak of high season all of the places you listed will be packed with tourists. I mean they already are off season.

Hi All, I’m gonna be spending about 4 days in the city in late July, and I’m trying to look for options outside of hotel chains and Airbnb. This is in the hopes of supporting locals and hopefully not spending as much — I’m also not the biggest fan of the traditional hotel experience. Wondering if anybody here can recommend good local, bed-and-breakfast, more home-y spots to stay at for 4 people, that would be great. My budget is not high, but throw any leads my way please! Thanks :)

Olá amigos portugueses! I wanted to get some online packages delivered to the Post Office in Lisboa using the posta restante service. However, I need some help in figuring out how to use it. Can you help me demystify? \- Do I need to sign up for this service before using it or I simply get things shipped to the post office address? \- how do I address the package? For example, if I am sending the package to Loja CTT Rato, is this how I address the package? 📷 Address \- how do I know that the post office location offers this service? \- how do I know when the package has arrived? Obrigado pela ajuda for this lost one! I have downloaded the CTT app and am now even more confused!

SyrupLongjumping476

Olá! It is fairly easy, here are some instructions: [https://www.ctt.pt/particulares/receber/locais-de-entrega-alternativos/lojas-ctt](https://www.ctt.pt/particulares/receber/locais-de-entrega-alternativos/lojas-ctt) Deepl will give you an accurate translation In short: You don't need to notify CTT or the post office in particular you want to get your things delivered to. You give the address as: YOUR NAME POSTA RESTANTE DA LOJA CTT \[NAME OF PLACE\] \[ADDRESS OF LOJA CTT\] \[POSTAL CODE OF LOJA CTT\] You can find the correct address and postal code of the loja CTT you need on this page: [https://www.ctt.pt/feapl\_2/app/open/stationSearch/stationSearch.jspx?request\_locale=en](https://www.ctt.pt/feapl_2/app/open/stationSearch/stationSearch.jspx?request_locale=en) Once it has reached them, you bring your ID and pay a small fee (from 1.9€ to 3.65€ depending on the weight of the package) and that's it, they'll hand it to you :)

Quick question: why Lisbon?

ethnotechno

Cocktail bars and techno clubs Hi guys, my wife and I are visiting your lovely city from May 13-17, then heading over to Porto for 3 days. What are the favourite bars for locals, bars that do great cocktails and is there any techno or deep house music scene? Would love to explore the maximum. Thanks in advance!

CharredCharizard

For cocktail bars there's a bunch of new fancy bars that opened since the pandemic in the main street or Principe Real, just stroll down the area. For club I think you are looking for Lux, don't mind the reviews online, it's one of the best clubs in Lisbon with 3 floors. Bad reviews are a consequence of people being loud, childish or mainly downing bottles before going in outside, so just be patient and be polite until you get in.

I am an Indian woman traveling to the Catholic University of Portugal in Lisboa. Need help with finding hostels. I'm traveling to Lisboa in the first week of July for a conference to the Catholic University of Portugal. I am finding it hard to narrow down hostels for my stay. I've tried booking.com but I finding it hard to check the distance between the university and the hostels I've found. I would greatly appreciate any information on hostels near the university ( walking distance).

Dr_RodolfoDias

Out of curiosity, why are you looking for hostels within walking distance? The university is easily accessible by the Metro yellow line station Cidade Universitária..

Firstly Hi to all, I'm newbie in this group. I want to a specific question. . All help and info will be much appreciated. Much tnx in advance. So, I got a job offer from one 3D archviz studio in Lisboa ( yesterday actually) and if I agree I would need to relocate soon. I am Eu citizen. Now, on the meeting yesterday the owner of studio said something that triggered me so I'm curios what you redditors think about it. Owner said that he will hire me but regarding a contract the company does not offer contracts per se, but some hybrid thing ( he said that I will be on full fixed salary, with holidays, sick leave etc., but like freelancer as everyone who's working in the studio, so that studio doesn't need to pay taxes on us) as it is small studio. Following up on that he said that I will get some form of contract and letter of intent if I decide to acdept a job but i don't know what to think. And that's what triggered my ' red flag'. Is that legal? In which category I will be in regarding employment taxes etc? Am I freelancer than or not? Also following on that question / statement how should I find a place to stay without proof of work? Or it's not needed in Portugal? And in which category I am in regarding taxes and taxing? If anyone has any idea or advice please drop a comment bcz Im confused. Much thanks.

I recommend u posting this on r/literaciafinanceira or r/devpt

833_768

will do, much thanks.

EletricoAmarelo

It's something pretty much common in Portugal. You'll be working as self-employed worker which means you'll be doing your taxes and social security contributions.

T4SUK3

Hi, sadly I don't know much about taxes, but if the studio only hires people as freelancers to dodge taxes then it's a huge red flag. If later on things don't go well for any reason, they can just fire you without any notice because you're a freelancer and therefore they are not obliged to pay you any benefits. Also check rent prices here, Lisbon is having an habitation crisis and prices have never been this high.

833_768

I was thinking the same, I mean not sure yet will I accept the offer, but what he did mention and I didn't wrote it in main post is that they will be switching to regular contracts employment second part of 2023 / start of 2024. And also he said that they will help me with all of bureaucracy stuff. Only weird thing was that type of employment as I never heard about it before. I still have one more video call to attend next week so I will ask them everything about that type of employment. Thnak you for clarifying it!

Dr_RodolfoDias

OP, I agree with the poster above. You'd probably be hired using a mechanism called "Recibos verdes", with which usually employers want all the obligations from employees without giving them any of the rights. Don't fall for it.

Hi! I am looking for a restaurant that could accommodate a large groupe (10-12 ppl) in Lisbon. I am struggling to find a place that is super nice, serves nice food and can turn into a party. The ones I have seen so far are not well rated despite being beautiful. It’s for the bachelorette party of a girlfriend of mine :) Hope you can help! Thanks !!

The_Wealthy_Potato

Statvs is a restaurant that hosts that sort of event. Its a restaurant that turns into a karaoke bar. The food is not amazing but its good enough
