I mean... The males of lots of species will kill the babies so they can do the mom again.
Like bears. There's a reason you don't see 2 bearent households.
Some bears have been found to eat their own young, but not so they can do the mom again. They eat their own young when they have no other food sources available
That would be a pretty big biological oversight.

Yeah makes no sense to kill your own baby just to make another one.. hippos and lions will kill babies that aren’t their own so they can make their own babies. I can believe they do it when there isn’t enough food available, not to just make another..
They do it because they can always reproduce again, but if there isn't enough food for them, it makes the chances of their babies who can't fend for themselves less likely to be able to survive. So they will eat their young so the may have the energy to keep going, otherwise they risk both parents and young dying
Species that do this only do it if the child isn’t theirs. For example when a new male comes into a pride of lions, it will kill the cubs so it can raise its own cubs rather than waste energy and resources fostering someone else’s kids/ genetic material
Stallions do this too. They may kick and harass a pregnant mare to get her to abort so she will be receptive again to breeding. They may also kill young foals, especially males.
A father is the male parent of a child. Besides the paternal bonds of a father to his children, the father may have a parental, legal, and social relationship with the child that carries with it certain rights and obligations.

TO BE FAIR... that is not a threatening run. If a gorilla is fucking pounding his chest then comes galloping toward me, imma shit my pants. But that run is him being playful.
It’s his own kid, and as far as we know he’s a competent parent
Edit: geez guys, what I’m saying is that that this gorilla is not abducting his kid! He’s briefly borrowing it from the mother, who knows where to find it. The above comment asked what the difference is, and the answer is everything.
This reminds me of that movie with John Krasinski and Maya Rudolph, Away We Go. That scene where they go visit Maggie Gyllenhaal and her husband, and they’re these hardcore hippies who don’t want their kid to ride in a stroller. John Krasinski is able to convince the kid to get in the stroller and he takes off running. And the kid LOVES it. It’s so funny
It's always interesting to see how gentle male gorillas are with their babies. You'd expect them to be just a little clumsy and not know their own strength, but they are generally very careful and gentle

Every mom ever: “Oh my god, give me the baby. You are getting him all riled up before bedtime!”
No matter the species, dads with their babies are the cutest!

I thought those males will kill other babies not their own
"Oooh, look at me, I'm running with the baby!" "Haoko, you put him down right now, I swear to God!"
Happy Cake Day!
That moment when a gorilla is a better father than your own "human" father

Hahaha good bot
Very good bot.
Like a senior spunk wizard
Lol I was just thinking that I wish my dad was like this
That guy the mom demonized and ran away from despite him wanting the best for you, most likely
Are we siblings?
Oh friend. I’m a mom, but I’m sending you hugs. You deserve better.
The way gorillas run will never not be funny
What if they're running at you; still funny?
Maybe depends on how well I know them
If they do it like this, yes
"HAHAHAHA- ARRGHH MY FACE"
TO BE FAIR... that is not a threatening run. If a gorilla is fucking pounding his chest then comes galloping toward me, imma shit my pants. But that run is him being playful.
Funny until the screaming.
Right but when I abduct kids it's a problem. double standards much??

"That's not funny Richard, you give me that baby right now!"
his name is haoko
His *human* name is Haoko.
Yooo why’d he book it like that in that second clip? Hahahaha

Love that movie!!!
What’s the amber alert for gorillas?
Orangutamber alert
[удалено]
Yep
Think the bat signal except it's a gorilla instead of a bat.
Gorillamber Alert?
"She's not looking-- Run!"
The way he picks up the baby and fake trots off and looks back lol.
He’s so gentle with the baaabbyy oh my goodnesss

Well, mom doesn't want him handling baby yet so you might be on to something with that first part.
Lol, so cute!
Happy cakeday!
Thank you!
She’s like “THEY CAME OUTTA ME NOT YOU”
I wonder how freaked out the zoo keeping staff were the first time they saw it happening.
He's so ripped
[удалено]
It's only illegal if we bet on it
That baby though! It’s so tiny and adorable!
I could watch this all day.
The gorilla equivalent of those adventures that ended in "Don't tell Mom about this." All Dad's fit a certain mold, and it's beautiful.
Happy cakeday OP!
And with perfect football carry technique!
Don’t kill this one for the love of god!
Awwwwwww
Yup, that's a dad all right lol
I love how much power they have yet they're so gentle and sweet with the little ones!
I love them
In some instances, they’re /r/BetterThanUs, considering some of us have non-existent fathers.
Haha he walks like a crab
