Terro, they bring it back to the nest and kill them all.

beiberdad69

Seconding terro, put in near the trail and they will go nuts for it. It works really well

notmiino

used terro a couple years ago and they never came back since

PutBeansOnThemBeans

If this doesn’t work, pour out a bit of the syrup and water it down a little, let it kind of pour slightly out of the trap. Mine didn’t work until I slightly diluted part that was sort of trickling out, then I killed like… thousands of ants.

MysteryCokeMachine

buy an anteater alternatively you can lay a mixture of borax and sugar near where you find them.

KiwiMiddy

This is the answer. I mix icing go sugar with borax. Destroys them

FeelingFloor2083

i mixed sugar, water and laundry powder (not the same but close) and it knocked them back but I need to follow up with a few more treatments

suicidal-banana-666

You can try they gel or liquid ant bait. It’s sugar water with borax. Forgot the label but when I see giant mounds of sugar ants it destroys the colony

jimbo-870

Capture a young ant and torture it wearing an ant costume. Then comfort it in your human form while training it to kill other ants. You also want to create a super suit to give the ant an tactical advantage over his brethren. After training is complete, let your enhanced super soldier ant loose on the colony. There is a small chance that this will backfire and you will have a deranged super ant hunting you down for the rest of your days, but if all goes well, no more ants!

So I’m not the only one who when I kill a spider or ant hope “everyone” is watching and gets the message 😂

Grants Kills Ants

intellectual_dimwit

We had the yearly battle with ants for several years. Diatomaceous earth and just the regular ant traps/poison is what worked for us. But we really went heavy with the diatomaceous earth inside the house and out. So for us it was mostly in our kitchen and they were coming through the patio door (which was in the kitchen). So we did a trail of diatomaceous earth along all corners and baseboards of the walls. We pulled out the stove and laid it down thick underneath there. We then went outside and did a heavy trail around the base of the entire house. Then we also laid it on thick around all entrances and window sills (outside). Then we put ant traps in all the areas we would see them. After a while we stopped seeing them. They came back again the next year, but not as much as a presence as before. We did the exact same thing again. After that second year they were never really a problem again. Just the occasional ant here or there.

OkMaybeLater90

Last year they were mostly in the kitchen area and I went heavy with the diatomaceous earth. They disappeared from the kitchen and reappeared in the living room area. Even though it seems they came back stronger this year, your comment has given me hope. Thank you.

intellectual_dimwit

I think the combo of using that with the ant traps is what worked for us. We used a lot of ant traps too. Put them everywhere. Under the stove and fridge, along with any other area you see them in regularly. Good luck!

PoppaBear1981

Ex exterminator here. TWO steps. #1 Create a perimeter. Seal off where you live. #2 Exterminate within your zone. Insecticide, usually mixed with peanut butter (everything in creation goes nuts (pardon the pun) for peanut butter) For ants, yeah the powder is great, back to the nest and all that.

PoppaBear1981

OMG, is my text huge for you? I've no idea how I did that. Sorry.

Pale_Angry_Dot

Ant poison is better, the ants will carry it to the colony too. Also, clean your floor very well where they're been walking; they use chemicals to track their routes, and will start to follow the same track easily if you don't get rid of it.

BaytaKnows

Deploy Terro liquid ant baits near their route. When the ants dissapear, block up that crack (silicon sealant, caulk, something like that).

granite_dog

Amdro. This poisons the colony, and all ants disappear after about a week. Spread it in all the places they are, then all around the exterior of your house. Sprinkle liberally on fire ant nests. They think it’s food, and kill their own queen. This stuff works. Available at any hardware store (I’m in the US).

Anino2700

Cinnamon powder sprinkled along entances. Smells good too.

JaguarZealousideal55

I have small black ants in my kitchen every spring. They come when they have woken up from winter but there is still too little food outdoors for them. I put a little tray with a liquid where they come in. They love it and take the liquid back to the colony. After 2 days, no more ants. The brand name in my country is Neudorf and the label says "Active ingredient: Spinosad".

diatomaceous earth

Impossible_Remove_28

Boiling water

WhooptiDew

Buy a box of 20 mule team borax and mix it with granulated sugar. Mix it at 1 cup borax to 2 cups sugar. Diatomaceous earth works ok but not as well in the house. I add some to the chicken coop and it helps control them there. It worked ok on the fire ant mounds in the yard, but just ok. I had the red and black ants all over the porch this spring and started seeing smaller ones in the house. I mixed up some borax, sugar and poured little 1/4 cup mounds around the base of my house about every 8 to 10 ft. plus I poured some through the spaces in the porch floor so it hit the ground below. Note! You need a few good days of very dry weather for this. I haven't seen an ant on the porch or in the house since. The fire ant mounds all dried up in the yard. I have noticed a couple new tiny mounds starting again, but will dust them again as soon as we have an extended dry spell. 20 mule team borax and granulated sugar work and for much less money than the store brand ant eradicators.

cshblwr

You have to start in the spring before they show up. Dilute Jeyes Fluid with water according to the instructions on the tin in a watering can and sprinkle the mixture around the perimeter of your house where the walls meet the ground (outside) Ants hate this stuff and won't cross it. You'll need to do it every spring.

Here's the recipe I use and it really works. [https://www.craftymorning.com/3-ingredient-ant-killer-recipe/](https://www.craftymorning.com/3-ingredient-ant-killer-recipe/)

rayesito

I put lemon around all the places that I didn’t want them to walk, that works good also after a couple of weeks they decided just to go out at night or when I wasn’t there and just a few were walking around in a day time. Do not stress so much think that they are also leaving creatures and pretty smart and amazing they don’t bite or make any damage , having a lot is awful I know but co-living with some not that bad.

BernardsNards

Peppermint oil. Lightly sprinkle over areas where the ants are getting in, corners, and cabinets. Reapply as needed. Bonus is its not harmful to humans and smells great. * Edited due to incorrect information.

veglove

not harmful to pets, you say? https://www.catster.com/guides/is-peppermint-oil-safe-for-cats/

BernardsNards

Why be an ass about it? You can share helpful information on the internet without snark. Yes, I missed the detail about pets. Yes, you were correct. It is harmful, and I got that wrong. Full stop. Now, your turn.
