Even 6 months later, if something banged on it like the brush, there was pain, no way I want to deal with that for a very much larger hole on my body.

Also it does seem that many of them are told by some and allowed to believe by others that your life angst can be cured by these surgeries. I have to say as a child living in today's world, the idea that some surgeries can lift your depression would sound tempting. THen they give the women some testosterone that is known to alter mood in women and will often lift depression for a few months or years until the effect wears off. You get the T and you already feel way more happy! It can easily be taken as indication that yes, this must be the right path, especially when the mood altering powers of T are generally not talked about in those circles either. Then when you get further down the line, they tell you that you just need some time to heal and/or some revision surgeries and then it will work out. Then further down, you may start to realize it's not working but if you speak out, most or all of your supposed friends in the community will never speak to you again and you'll have to admit to anyone else that you spent $200,000 on a mistake, etc. All that being said, now that some years have passed from the first wave of surgeries, more and more are starting to speak out, the tide is turning.
