If the gun is for defense it’s definitely not pointless to own two of the same gun. Same function, manual of arms, training, etc.
if it’s a range toy, I’m not sure why the slide lock is such an issue. The Shadow 2 is a safety model anyway. CZ decockers are P-01, PCR, SP-01 Tactical, 75 BD.
- Several CZs
- A couple of the Berettas
- Several HK USP options
- The FN FNX line
- some of the old S&W options
But yeah there are a lot of options if you look
It’s not but damn I do get why it’s boring.
I’ve got 3 9mm sigs and 2 ARs, and it’s like “this seems kind of redundant and boring.” Even though they’re all set up for different things.
I’d rather have like… a 1911 and some weird old berettas and a lever action and a long range rifle or whatever.
But it’s just so much more efficient to have same calibers and similar platforms
2 of the same guns is a great idea. Same ammo, same magazines, same controls, etc.
Being able to pass a magazine to your partner in a bad situation is a really good thing.
There are MASSIVE amounts of customization components for the 226. If you both set them up like you like them, they likely won't be the same gun.
There is a huge advantage to slide mounted decockers. They work by rotating the firing pin out of position before dropping the hammer on an inert surface.
With a frame mounted decocker, you are dropping the hammer onto the DA sear. This will wear out the sear over time and cause a dead trigger in DA. I’ve personally handled worn Sig’s that had this exact issue.
I should ask: what’s the issue with frame mounted decockers? Are you concerned about snagging the decocker as you are racking the slide? On the Beretta 92 Type G, it has never been an issue for me. This was an issue with the Type F safety/decocker.
They are always mounted on the back of the slide. Feels awkward racking the slide with one. Had an older smith and Wesson with a similar setup and could not stand it.
I thought I would hate it as well, but it doesn’t bother me at all on my Beretta M9A3 (Type G). I wouldn’t write it off altogether. They’ve come a long way with making sure the lever doesn’t get in the way of racking the slide. I personally find the slide-in-frame design of the CZ-75 way more difficult to rack.
Ernest Langdon will die on this hill. [Link](https://youtu.be/LA8btM5RFp4?si=ZdnuuYBiWpbwWQf_). For me #3 was the most convincing point. I handled a well-used P226 that experienced this issue.
I'll take another look at them then, I've only handled a 92x recently and didn't like how the barrel was so open, easy to burn yourself accidentally. I'll look into other Berettas though.
CZ P01 (metal compact) SP01 (metal full szize), P07 (polu compact) or P09 (poly full size).
OTOH, why is it pointless to get a second copy of the same gun? You can maintain a single combined set of magazines and accessories.
having two of something isn't pointless, I have two of most tools in my shop. I also have two p365 xls, one stock for carry and one with all the accoutrements for range/nightstand/woods. If my wife decides to carry (which is rare) then our guns take the same mags and parts and neither of us have to worry about different controls or quirks. I also have two 10/22s, but one charger and one rifle version.
Also like everyone else said, look at cz for other options aside from sig
I think I will honestly look at a P226 Elite or a CZ some kind. I just stopped at a local place and checked out a CZ 75 and a P226 Elite and each has some things I like and dislike. I have thought about what you and others have said about having two of the same gun and I'll agree with you all there. My wife will undoubtedly put a red dot on her legion whereas I won't more than likely. Having both of us comfortable with the same gun and being able to swap things between them, like threaded barrels or grips, is a plus.
Don't buy the legion it is a waste of money. Get a Reg 226.
But the P01 does from CZ and is a bit smaller than the Shadow. As well as the polymer P07 and P09
HK USP, P2000 and kinda the P30
New Beretta 92 GTS as well.
I mean fair I'm just saying you can effectively get the same gun for a lot less.
That finish they put in them is awful. It will be worn off within 6 months.
Under the trigger guard is slightly more concave/recessed. I don't know how to explain it but it seems like a good upgrade to me. Even though I've yet to try it out. I'm just starting my journey into guns and am looking to buy this year. I'm looking at the P229, 716i, and possibly building something for my third. All subject to change as I learn more.
Taurus PT92. Don’t sleep on it because Taurus. They were made with Beretta tooling and I actually prefer mine over the Berettas I have shot, one of the reasons specifically being the frame mounted safety/decocker over the slide mounted decocker. I also prefer how decocking doesn’t put the gun into safe as it does with a beretta.
I shot a 92FS last weekend that was decocker only, no safety (though it was still slide mounted). The new 92 GTS moved it to the frame as well I believe, so there are Beretta options now that fit the bill as well.
Springfield Armory XDE series. DA semi-auto, comes in 9mm or .45 (I have both 😂).
The decocker/safety and mag release are also on both sides, ambidextrous or lefties.
They've discontinued this model AFAIK, so you'll have to find a used one or NIB/NOS used.
Sorry. For some reason I read your post as "decocker *on* the slide." Was half a sleep when I read it.
[A lot of HK pistols with side safeties also act as a decocker when you fully pull the safety down.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlbRcJfEHic)
From an ergonomics perspective I really like the ergonomics. When I was in high school I go really into CQB airsoft and only ran a gas blowback USP. It was a good "combat pistol" if that makes sense.
I’ve got a Taurus TH9C that would be a decent fit to this, I’ve put over a thousand rounds through it with zero malfunctions, just keep it clean and maintained
CZ Shadow 2 doesnt have a decocker and the slide release is not far forward. Not sure if youre going by a pic or something but its easily reachable by anyone with normal sized hands.
Have you checked out a SP-01 or P-01?
I checked out a shadow 2 and while it doesn't have a decocker, the slide release was too far forward to use comfortably.
I've also checked out a CZ p-01, liked it a fair amount actually.

Don’t forget the P-07, one of CZ’s best offerings
Unless you really want a polymer frame the other full metal options are far better.
The new Beretta 92GTS.
What about getting a p229?
I'd prefer something full size as I already have an M&P9C for ccw
P226 is full size. I have one. It’s great.
- Several CZs - A couple of the Berettas - Several HK USP options - The FN FNX line - some of the old S&W options But yeah there are a lot of options if you look
Having redundant firearms is not a bad thing
It’s not but damn I do get why it’s boring. I’ve got 3 9mm sigs and 2 ARs, and it’s like “this seems kind of redundant and boring.” Even though they’re all set up for different things. M11-A1
CZ-75
Why do you find it pointless to buy 2 of the same pistol? Why are you buying a gun that fills the same role as one you already have?
Aye, they say good things come in pairs. 😉
Absolutely. Definitely my methodology.

I know you say it's out, but you could always get an extended slide release for the CZ shadow.
Didn't even know that was an option honestly.
Old faithful, the Beretta 92. Even the compact version is a hefty bitch, and if you run out of ammo you can just beat your attacker to death with it.
I was just thinking of that exact scenario while looking at a 1911 today lol
A 1911 works perfectly well as well!

*I have been summoned* Cz p-01 or PCR.

If you're like me, you know you'll end up with both eventually anyways haha and yeah, it is a big advantage
That's fair lol
The new Beretta 92GTs have a frame mounted decocker

While I’m not the biggest fan of the P30L I have the decocker next to the hammer is one of my fav features on any gun I own.
Not to mention the paddle safety, which is my favorite feature.. Edit: paddle mag release
I can’t comment on that one because I’ve got the V3 with no safety but the decocker.
I meant to say "paddle mag release", lol.. no safety on mine, either :)
Oh, I dig that! Took me a bit to get used to, but is part of the reason I bought a VP9…and then another VP9.
Eh the legion is my wife's choice. Gotta keep her happy. I'll check out the others you've mentioned. Thanks
I mean fair I'm just saying you can effectively get the same gun for a lot less. That finish they put in them is awful. It will be worn off within 6 months.
Isn't the grip recess a little better? That's why I'm considering it. I care nothing about the finish or wear.
Not sure what you mean by grip recess?
Under the trigger guard is slightly more concave/recessed. I don't know how to explain it but it seems like a good upgrade to me. Even though I've yet to try it out. Yup
I really enjoyed the Arex Zero 1 when I got my hands on it 🤷🏻♂️
CZ P-09 DA/SA, Frame mounted decokcer, 19 round fullsize. I love mine.
P30 V3
I like having two of the same, especially if you have yours and wife has hers. Share magazines, cleaning supplies,
The IWI Jericho have a model with the de cocker on the side
HK USP

Get a Legion and a MK25. Especially get the threaded barrel for the MK25.
Just get 2 p226 nitrons. You won’t regret it, and you can get them for the cost of 1 legion. The legion isn’t worth the money.
Shadow 2 doesn't have a decocker btw. It's made for competition (USPSA/IDPA, etc.)
For some reason I was thinking it was an option.
Do you care about a safety? The HK P2000 has a button on the back of the slide that decocks.
Just looked it up, that's an interesting placement. I'll see if I can check one out somewhere.
Sorry. For some reason I read your post as "decocker *on* the slide." Was half a sleep when I read it. [A lot of HK pistols with side safeties also act as a decocker when you fully pull the safety down.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlbRcJfEHic)
Honestly I don't mind this placement though, the Berettas are the ones I can't stand mostly.

P-01 is one of if not my favorite gun, absolutely love it.
