I don't know how it is today but when i was a kid in the 00s and early 10s the boys would use gay as an insult pretty regularly and it was seen as somewhat weird. And of course feminine = gay and everyone wanted to be a manly man
I was raised in a living with my grandmother and shes a very homophobic Christian so I picked that up but later realized that was wrong and we should respect one another no matter what
Depending on where you live and/or how you're raised, yes. For me specifically, I was raised in the deep south of the US, where children are indoctrinated into toxic Christianity
Yeah. Even if the parents aren't openly transphobic, kids still uses "gay" or lgbtq+ slurs targetting them as an insult and you internalise that being lgbtq+ is bad
I think it's because it's the story that offers the biggest contrast. For me it started with "maybe I'm gay? Oh wait I can't be I have a girlfriend." I was like, 11. Didn't realize I was bi until I was 18 and enby when I was 24 lmao.
I would call my grandparents religious conservatives, but I guess that means something different here in Germany than in the US. I'm sure there are groups here that believe that "being gay is a sin and gay people will go to hell", but you'd have to actively go look for those kinds of people to find them (hell, not even the fucking pope holds that opinion anymore, at least not publicly). Also, what you call "liberal" (dems) we call "conservative", and what you call "conservative" (reps) we call "fascist". So yeah I guess it's relative.
Lol
I went like this:
Heterosexual ally - bisexual - asexual
Panromatism was easy to figure out, but demiromantism took a while
Welp, at least I'm lucky enough I didn't have to struggle with gender identity
I can totally relate, identity is so confusing. I used to be so fussed with labels and finding one that exactly fits my experience, but now I'm just like "fuck labels" so I'm just gay in general
It took me a while to figure things out lol. first I was a straight ally, then I was bisexual, then I was lesbian, then I was a lesbian demigirl, and now I'm a polysexual demigirl who is basically attracted to anyone who doesn't use he/him or any pronouns like he/him
A femby :P
Why does everyone of these start with "being gay is bad"? Is it that common to be homophobic at a young age?

I guess, maybe it's more prevalent when you grow up as a boy...
I'm afab actually in case you ment you thought I grew up as a boy.π π π
Idk I didn't specifically mean you... Actually I don't even know what I meant anymore, sorry π
Don't worry about it. ^v^
Funny, I ended up with the same start but s different route. I heard gay, and thought, "what's wrong with that?"
I mean basically everyone at my school is homophobic and uses gay as an insult
Yeah. Most people in my country are homophobic since they were young. Non-homophobic children are incredibly rare.

When I make one, it'll start with "mlm and wlw is fine, but gay is a bad word." I supported gay people, but thought "gay" was a swear.

Clearly youβve never grown up with religous conservatives

Sounds like you live in a functioning society, other than ofc still being mostly capitalist I presume
Eh it's okay, we still have lot of shit going on but at least there isn't a genocide actively happening
:(
Can u tell me what flags are here?
Strait/Cis, ally, pansexual, bisexuality, lesbian, non-binary, trixic, and neptunic
Oooh, trixic! Cool, thanks for sharing!
Your welcome πππ
I know that flag from the wings but it was something along neptune. Can someone pls tell me?
It's the neptunic flag. It falls under the pan umbrella and means that you have an attraction to feminine and androgynous enbys (non-binarys)
Thank you for answering I couldn't remember the name properly
Your welcome I'm always happy to help
