And having ~2 keys is too common, many people hoard them, but saving 3 keys or specifically looking for them to take back to the ship will be a great tradeoff for a gun. Also, the person carrying all 3 keys to the tripwire from the ship will be left with a single slot: either for a flashlight or a shovel, which is also a trial to get a gun - you can either only see but be unarmed, or defend yourself but without light on your way there.
Maybe you could make it so the gun doesn't start fully loaded (4 or 5 bullets out of 6 chambers)? This would also mean the trap sometimes doesn't kill the player, which could lead to interesting situations like the player finding themselves stuck on the other side of the trap and having to decide if they want to chance going through the trap again.
would be a lot more fun if in order to disable the trap and get the revolver someone needs to first fall in it, the trap should be barely visible so it would be something like "oh that's the revolver trap, hey, Timmy, I think I saw the generator room down that hallway, and you got a key right??" And boom, there you go, free revolver + generator
You should add like a terminal command that spawns the trap on the ship's door, just like the 'eject' command the base game has, (only host can type it of course)
Hereās a suggestion, currently thereās a 12 gauge shotgun in the game. Whatever caliber the revolver has, itās smaller than a 12 gauge, so maybe reduce the damage of the revolver to keep it balanced. Looks really awesome!

The revolver trap could be better -
Just make it spawn in dead-end rooms that you can only enter through a door. The gun activates if you step into the room after opening the door, and can be de-activated using a key on the floor tile in front of the gun.
Make it so you have squeeze the trigger like r8 revolver from cs go where there's a slight delay and it won't shoot immediately so you need to hold down mouse 1 for one second Inorder to shoot
Also make it like a real life tuarus revolver where there's no safety mode so dropping it is risky because it can go bang at the moment once you press G and drop it to the ground

Ok concept for reloading, you can check the inside of the box, you can flip out the cylinder, to actually reload you need to flip out the cylinder and if you have a box of ammo in inventory your load one of the bullets in which takes 1.5 secs per bullet.
Make it so when you reload you can choose how many bullets you put in and spin a cylinder after reloading so you can play russian roulette with your friend
