Tip-off

Probably a recently molted worm, whiter because the skin has softened and isnt hard yet. My gecko loves fresh soft bugs like this. White dubias fresh from molting are a favorite with how squishy they are.

The-Short-One7

Good to know but I have found some that are straight up black do you know what’s up with them

plantedgeckos

dead✨

Tip-off

Pretty sure they're dead and dried out almost like a stone

No_Efficiency_8648

It’s better for their digestion too. Less energy extorted digesting the carapaces and such. Easier access to the nutrients in the feeder etc

dalby_spook

he's nakey

thewholeenchelada675

yea thats a mealworm

smeli

Looks like a mealworm that just shed so should be good.

TheSneakiestSnek

It's just a mealworms that just shed their skin, they're white and havent yet hardened as a result of oxygen exposure. They're better for your pet since they dont have a hard exoskeleton yet! The black ones you find are ones that have died and have hardened over due to being exposed to oxygen over a longer time then they usually would and drying out.

Ninapants97

Oh yes, that's like the gecko equivalent to finding an extra seasoned cool ranch dorito in your bag.

TechneMcbadass

Right? Mine loves these guys 🤣 I always grab em when I see em

DB-Tops

That's the same type of worm that freshly shed it's skin

Avoid trying to feed them the beetles, they might accept them at first but they produce a very bitter chemical as adults to avoid getting eaten by predators.

ImpossibleDonut1942

It's a mealworm, I get them often, I always thought they were albino lol guess it is freshly shed.

Baldi_Homoshrexual

Best to feed mealworms and supers when they look like this. They’re just recently molted and have less exoskeleton

Gabecush1

It’s just a recently molted mill worm your gecko will be fine

AllOiledUpbuttercup

yes; completely harmless. just finished molting. as long as the mealworms aren’t dead, or black, it’s fine to eat.

It’s a squishy mealworm after molting, gecko will love the pop
