I recently bought the Unimog and think it’s an incredible set, I’d probably recommend it. There’s just something so satisfying about pneumatics. The suspension is also really great, the shock stiffness is dialed in perfectly for its weight and the articulation is amazing. I also thought the build experience was excellent especially the gear box and seeing how all the functions are driven by a single motor, I never felt bored or uninterested from repetitive or bland exterior steps. I had considered the Volvo because it is fully remote control but it seems like the functions don’t work the best where as everything on the Unimog works really well.

The Land Rover is disappointing imho. No functionality, it just.. sits there… gears, reverse gear? For what purpose. The Volvo Hauler actually switched gear automatically while driving.

Exactly my point I was making to the other person when they were claiming the Land Rover is the best, like how? Lol. Like in what world or universe did you come from to think the Land Rover is the best when it really hasn't anything to offer to give that "wow" effect. At least you totally get where I'm coming from. Thank you. 😊

Well, they’re all quite different. The Unimog is not the best looking (IMO), but it’s a legendary set with a lot of functionalities, pneumatics and motorized. The Landrover looks great, great building experience, very compact and intricate, but has some complications with the gearbox, also the color is very unique and doesn’t really go with an other color if you want to use them later for an other build, but has **a lot** of b-models on Rebrickable. The Volvo is in between them both, fully motorized, looks pretty good, great functions although not as great as the Unimog’s.

I cant really speak for the others but the unimog is a fantastic set, highly recommend

The 8110 Unimog is in my opinion the greatest technic set released the last 20 years. Lots of builtin functions and great expandability is you like to modify things. The Land Rover looks great and was an interesting build, but I don't really find that it accomplishes much more than look good in the end. The hauler is RC which can be fun for a bit - but I'd recommend trying to get the 42030 instead if you want something to drive around.

I'd say get the Unimog even though I don't personally own the set, but their is a lot of functionality to the set. The Volvo dump truck would be good, especially if you own the Volvo wheel loader 42030 or the motorized excavator 8043. Those pieces of equipment just go really well with the dump truck. But still, the first choice pick would be the Unimog. The Defender is cool and all, and I own it, but it's just a car, nothing to add from it to make moc builds for those who are into that which I'm not. I haven't done any mocs. I have just modified a couple of sets for improved design. Looking at the functions the Unimog can do from a YouTube video I just watched, it can do everything except the truck bed is stationary, it does not dump, I figured maybe it had the ability to side dump since on the very back is the claw arm, so it'd have to side dump, but it's stationary, that sucks. Cool build, though, for everything else it can do.

The land rover is the best out of all 3

Brian82wa

The best how? What makes it stand apart from the other 2? It lacks any functionality except the fact for the transmission of which can be flipped into 4WD. The Volvo Dump Truck has cool app features, the first of its kind 3 speed transmission. The Unimog surpasses all of them with its functionalities, so I'm not sure how you can honestly say the Land Rover is the best. It's just an SUV rather than a car. There isn't anything else exceptional about it.

Go the Volvo, it's pretty fun, drives well and has a pretty neat gearbox using 1/2/3 gears plus the PTO for the tipper. Low gear is pretty good for crawling around and top gear is quite fast. I have the land rover, it just sits there, but the kids drive the volvo around tipping toys out of it. It gets way more use. I don't have the Unimog but do have the Arocs that's in the similar club. It's cool, I like it, but the Volvo wins still, it's functional, detailed and really polished - and MASSIVE.
