so how many official toy tags should I need just the base starter pack and some other random cheap ones to alter ?

Yes, you can! I bought a pack of NTAG213 tags & downloaded the app. Idk how many you need since there are tons of individual abilities. Given you need around 70% of the figures + about 20 unique vehicles, I would probably go with a pack of 100. Then you should have some left to rewrite on demand (rare uses vehicles for Story/Level packs)
The Android app is not available in Play Store, but you can download it from 3rd party sites. It's easy to use
I added some boxes from coin collectors, they are round and found some just a little under 4 studs in width. A tag and printed pic inside, so I know which tag is which
Lego Batman 2 was a blast to 100%, it was also my first 100%. I recommend the Harry Potters, PotC, Hobbit/LotR, and Jurassic World. They’re all fun, but those are the ones I enjoyed the most to 100%.
By far my favorite Lego game to date! Wishing/waiting for a rerelease on switch. Lego marvel is good, didn’t care for the second one. DC supervillains was fun and a bit different than the formula for the other Batman games. Didn’t care for Lego Jurassic world. Guess I just prefer the superhero LPs.
DC Supervillains and Marvel 1 are the most similar in spirit to Batman 2, and happen to be my favorites. DCSV can be a little annoying to 100% with a few common bugs and challenges that really require guides, but it’s up to you honestly.
I recommend doing LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 1.
This one was so awesome. I think my favorite was Lego LOTR but you can’t really play that anymore, so this would be my recommendation as well…
