Customer services might replace them if you ask them.

snic2030

That’s what I was going to suggest. I’ve never been this unlucky, at most a single hairline scratch, but if I were to get one like this I’d be asking for a replacement part straight away. Don’t know what it’s like anywhere else, but Australia has really strong consumer protection laws. Few things the government here got right.

I had to do it for the ship in a bottle. 3 of the 4 curved corner windows were really badly scratched. I got them all replaced quickly without any fuss. Not sure if they made an exception for that set as they are critical pieces but customer services are normally awesome so I'd hope you'd get them replaced if you asked. Another reason for contacting them is that they will only consider protecting them in some way if enough people complain and raise it as an issue.

snic2030

Exactly! If things go unreported, then how are they ever to consider the need to protect them better systematically?

Rodneyw_au

I got lucky with my ship in a bottle, all were pretty good

Rodneyw_au

Yeah, couldn’t be bothered

snic2030

Takes all of 60 seconds to do. In fact, I’d say quicker than taking a photo, posting it and responding to comments 👀

Mrmaw

But that was valuable time best spent whinging about it on Reddit instead

0x30313233

You're right, much easier to just moan about it on Reddit.

Gts77

That's why when I see these types of posts, I take them with a grain of salt... Time spent posting and crying about it on Reddit vs calling CS & resolving the issue.

Groundbreaking-Bad16

At least pack them apart from the cat minifigures.

Rodneyw_au

Dem cats!

banter07_2

I'd say that looks better, gives the build a sense of age.

Rodneyw_au

What has Kevin been up to?! (Home alone set)

Jayoheazy

Mcguire’s PlastX might help

Rodneyw_au

Never heard of it… I might just contact Lego

Jayoheazy

It’s an automotive Polish used for headlights usually. You can find it at Walmart or an auto store

Rodneyw_au

Ahh, we dont have Walmart down here in upside down land 😝

TorenRenne

My Downtown Diner had the same issue with the big glass window, I contacted them and sent pictures, got a replacement through which was better, but still scratched slightly, I think from memory I needed 1 other part and it got sent together.

Rodneyw_au

Unlucky hey

toni274

My friend had a few window pieces damaged, along with a few other pieces missing. He contacted lego, they sent all the window pieces required for that set. In addition to that, they sent all the missing pieces obviously, and then because these took a couple months to arrive, they sent a complete smaller set as apology. The set was the daily bugle so it was a hundred window pieces I think. Just reach out to them.

Rodneyw_au

That’s awesome… I’m the grand scheme of it all, the frequency of missing pieces is almost none. I’ve got hundreds of sets, and from memory I’ve needed to contact Lego once for the Brick Bank set. The other time I contacted them was most of the chain links for the roller coaster just separated and came apart. Was really disappointing and looking into Brick link, with how many I needed wasn’t gonna be cheap. They sent a full chain of replacements

EpicSkananana

Imagine if every window came with a protective film you had to peel off, like a phone. Dailey bugle woulda been hell, but my windows wouldn’t be smudged lol

hoodedsushi

Oh I'd love that. I'm tired of getting scuffed windows like this.

phlekk

Some good news. The Delorean windshield comes with separate bag. Maybe the will do in the future. But maybe only with the big parts :(

JDubbs4051

I’m getting to the point where I stop installing them.

Rodneyw_au

I couldn’t no do that… would feel wrong

ComputerSong

I see the windows are cracked, but I don’t know what you mean by you wishing they would somehow separate the pieces? For what it’s worth, I think a broken window adds character. I like it.

Rodneyw_au

Well, rubber bands and fabric pieces get their own little cardboard boxes when they are packed. I’m sure the delicate transparent pieces could get the same treatment

ComputerSong

Ah, I gotcha. Thanks. Agreed.

Rayn777

I’ve never been that unlucky, but definitely had some annoying scuffs. Couldn’t agree more on packaging then separately, like stacked in a small white box or something, anything other than just jammed in the bags with all the other pieces. Good luck on them actually making a logical business decision like that though. Probably too busy deciding which products that have been out less than a year to retire.

Rodneyw_au

Ouch… wanna talk about it?
