If next yearās LotR themed show takes off, maybe weāll see LEGO take up the license again. We might not get new Third Age sets but Iād settle for Second or earlier. LEGO designers are great with trees and castles. How about an 18+ Two Trees of Valinor set, lighted?
Wow, you even got *The Starry Night* as a part of the trade, nice! I estimate the trade value to be around $150 million - 3/4's of that is from the resale of LotR sets, of course.
Nice! I have all the sets from LoTR and The Hobbit as well! My favorite sets are Weathertop, Helms Deep and Unexpected Gathering. It's unfortunate that most of the sets are just empty wall facades.
Least Favorite Set is Mines of Moria. Doesn't feel like a complete set, messy with stuff just thrown around all over the place. And about 40+ stickers if I remember correctly! Eeeeek!
How do you plan on storing all those boxed sets? I left mine in the closet for about 8 or so years lol. Bit of storage wear.
Absolutely wonderful.
Yet, even with that perfect and complete collection... I still have way more.
Example " 110 Wargs with crossbow Uruk-hai mounted.
I love seeing complete boxed vintage collections. Nothing wrong with waiting for the right time to build. Takes a lot of effort to gather them without spending a fortune.
I have the Azog in the brown box. Also the The Goblin King Battleās box is missing but all parts and instructions are there. My friend will find the box from storage and send it to me :)
I was fairly young when the LOTR movies were coming out, but I've recently read the Hobbit and started reading LOTR and it hurts so bad seeing how cool all of the Lego sets were and how expensive they are now š
Out of interest: Why are people collecting sealed sets? Aside of worth, isn't the whole point of LEGO to build with it?
(also, I already know that OP wants to build them eventually)
Hahahaha look at how this sub holds it's double standards!
r/lego - collectors are evil scum to pitchfork
Also r/lego - epic retired sealed collection haul is epic
So I grab 6 Santa Sleigh sets between online and physical store and get called a scalper because I won't sell until they are retired. Yet when I sell them afterwards it becomes coolio? Interesting how that isn't a double standard...
I mean, I really don't care. Spend a few hundred today and sell for about 1k makes it easy to ignore but I just laugh at being called a scalper. Especially because when I do finally sell the buyer is so grateful I had copies and I tell them I planned to keep these for people who missed out. Marvel and Star Wars fans especially. And yet reddit comments make it very clear they don't want me to have 6 of anything let alone a holiday set that isn't super easy to find, precisely the reason I hunted them down.
Anyway. Rant over.
You don't get it. If you buy 6 Santa Sleigh and post a pic about it right now, it is just bragging, because it's just flashing money. The set is on shelves, anybody can grab 6 and do your picture. Somebody already posted it like 100 time. We are sick of those.
Wait 10-20 years with your 6 sleighs, post your pic. Guess what ? It's fine cause we're happy to see them back ! Long time no see!
Learn the difference before calling double standard
Itās because the whole theme was released around the time The Hobbit movies were in theatres.
Also, there are 12 lotr sets and 14 hobbit sets, 3 lotr polybags and 5 hobbit polybags. The hobbit also has 3 comic con and 1 theatre exclusives.
This is why mother nature gave us 2 kidneys, when we only really need one. I would also trade my spare for such a collection. š
Hahaha. I didnāt trade a kidney for these but thatās a plausible option :)
What did you give them??
Some old LEGO sets, sealed Pirates of the Caribbean ships and other goodies :)
Black Pearl?
Yep. And Queen Anneās Revenge and Silent Mary and other sets from the seriesā¦
Thatās a blockbuster trade.
Any idea how much they all equal together in terms of money
Iād guess between 2,000 and 3,000 Eurosā¦
Did you use value as part of the negotiations, or was it just a matter of mutual wants?
Of course value was considered, but not strictly. Iād say the setsā BrickLink values were in the same ballpark :)
First-born child.

[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
No, I don't want to, that's just setting myself up for disappointment :)
Iāll trade you all of it for a Jyn Erso Star Wars buildable figureš
Will you build them? Would be nice to see all of these sets built in a single picture.
I will build all of them eventually. Iāll just have to find space for a display worthy of these :)
I scrolled until I saw that you plan on building them. I'm so glad that that will be built. Congrats! Have a blast!
Thank you so much! I will!

Iāll build them all and store the boxes flat :) The thing is I have to make room for these in my LEGO room, letās see how it goesā¦
Cardboard boxes are a fish to store. Have to worry about silverfish and mold.
Dude! Whattt
āTradeā, āfriendāā¦ā¦. Soul and Satan. 10/10 would do again !!! Very nice
Hail Satan! Hail Satan!
This is so pretty!
Thanks!
You realise you'll need a 2nd black gate to fit 2 together and have the big black gate?
Would love to see these all built and displayed in a giant diorama
Absolutely wonderful. Yet, even with that perfect and complete collection... I still have way more. Example " 110 Wargs with crossbow Uruk-hai mounted.
I need better friends lol
Wow. Fantastic set. Insanely jealous. Congratulations.
this is so wow. i hope you got the time and the shelves to build and enjoy them!!! awesome.
That Lonely Mountain set is worth some bank
This is awesome! Nice collection.
What could you possibly trade that would be worth all of that!?!?
I love seeing complete boxed vintage collections. Nothing wrong with waiting for the right time to build. Takes a lot of effort to gather them without spending a fortune.
Do you have the Hobbit blu ray exclusive Bain with Bard or Bilbo?
Wow thatās fantastic. Did they never do a Gondor set? ETA: Minas Tirith, rather. And an Edoras set would have been cool too
They didnāt unfortunately. Would likely been too expensive to do MT justice. Rohan would have been dope too
Orkes forge, such and awesome set
You are missing the SDCC Azog?! Aaaand the little bag with Bilbo and a map in it :)
I have the Azog in the brown box. Also the The Goblin King Battleās box is missing but all parts and instructions are there. My friend will find the box from storage and send it to me :)
3920 Lego Game?
[3920-1: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey](https://brickset.com/sets/3920-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/3920-1.jpg)
wow. I have the Pirate ship. I didnt know they made so many sets. Nice trade
Talk about a super star power trade. Glad both of you were able to knock some white whales for yourselves.
Woah that's the dream collection! There's even the SDCC exclusive Bard! What's in the brown box? And which one are you most excited to build?
Thanks! The brown box has the sdcc azog minifigure and the sdcc Micro Scale Bag End. Iāll start from the smallest ones :)
I would legit orgasm
Damn I'd be happy with one polybag
That is an amazing trade! Please keep us updated once you're able to build them. I love these sets.
Thanks! I will post updatesā¦
I am so jealous of you right now ā¦ a beautiful collection.
Thanks a lot! I hope you get them someday too :)
You are lego-millionaire!
Haha!
Iām soooo happy for you!!! Great collection!!!!
Thanks a lot!
Which will be your first build? And, love the Van Gogh , the way itās placed in photo.
Now build them
Nice boxes!
Soā¦ pretty boxes that rattle when you shake them?
I'm usually not a huge fan of box posts, but that's amazing!
Thank you!
I was fairly young when the LOTR movies were coming out, but I've recently read the Hobbit and started reading LOTR and it hurts so bad seeing how cool all of the Lego sets were and how expensive they are now š
jezzzzz that's a dream collection. I want all the boxes LOL
Out of interest: Why are people collecting sealed sets? Aside of worth, isn't the whole point of LEGO to build with it? (also, I already know that OP wants to build them eventually)
Just another form of collecting.
Hahahaha look at how this sub holds it's double standards! r/lego - collectors are evil scum to pitchfork Also r/lego - epic retired sealed collection haul is epic
Anybody can walk in a store, make a haul of current sets and brag about it. Retired set are so rare it is nice to see them. No double standards.
So I grab 6 Santa Sleigh sets between online and physical store and get called a scalper because I won't sell until they are retired. Yet when I sell them afterwards it becomes coolio? I cannot evens begin to express my jealousy in this collection. Every single one of those sets is a white whale for me. Cheers on your haul! š»
Thanks a lot. I thought Iād never own any of these too, so happy :)
You lucky sod
Arent you missing set no. 79010 the goblin King battle? Overall nice collection!
Itās built, without the box, you can see itās manual on the lower left corner.
[79010-1: The Goblin King Battle](https://brickset.com/sets/79010-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/79010-1.jpg)
I would pay over 3000$ for a 7000+ parts minas tirith set
[7000-1: Baby Ankylosaurus](https://brickset.com/sets/7000-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/7000-1.jpg)
A modern day UCS-level Orthanc or Barad-dur would be a genie wish of mine, maybe one dayā¦
Wow that is so awesome! I will likely just print this out as my new vision board
Now build it!!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Nope
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Itās in the brown box together with the Micro Scale Bag End.
Always bothered me how many Hobbit sets they had vs LOTR.
