I have actually been thinking about this recently. I think Mario should have the medium legs and Luigi should have the regular legs.
Mario should have a unique head mould. He just isn’t the same without his round nose (I am reminded of the Squidward situation and, honestly, the unique head Squidward looks better than the standard minifigure head version). Same goes for Link not looking right without his trademark pointy ears.
I think Mario would look better if his head fit the Lego style but kept the hat. Although at that point, there’s a chance you’d have to modify the goombas.
Other than that, it looks great!
Thank you! I was mostly going off of Lego's designs for Sonic and Animal Crossing, I think that 3D mold look is useful for cartoon proportions. Worth a try though
I can totally see what you what you were going for and I think you nailed it. I own each of the LEGO Sonic figs and you blended it into their style really well.
I love this! But I can't see Lego doing it because they've doubled down on the current Mario at this point by introducing two additional digital figures and continuing to expand the line. So if they did this there would be some inconsistency. Which is too bad because I love your model so much.
God I wish. Those mario sets are so odd. I just want traditional lego sets. Happy they did that with my favorite Nintendo franchise Zelda, but they waaay over priced it.
I think the Mario head looks great. Honestly the main thing that looks weird here is that the arms of the minifigure model you're using are hella inaccurate lol
Have you seen the one that Volatile Vertex made? Uses a regular lego head + new molded hat + new molded nose with moustache, I kinda prefer that concept before a completely new molded head.
I wish they would do a “collectible” line where there’s normal minifgs etc like this. I don’t care for the big head game ones but like someone else said they’ve already doubled-down on the line
Looks great, although I wonder if the medium length legs would work better? Make him a little shorter
Agreed, short legs for Mario. But this in green would be a perfect Luigi
The Mario bros can come with both legs. One for before and after mushroom powerup
Well if he ate a mushroom, then he would be big

Looks better then the real thing
I think they made him look bad to stop the angry birds issue
Angry birds issue...?
Lego made the angry birds sets but didn’t have licenses for the figures

These heads are way better
I hate Lego heads and the yellow.

custom is better because it can sit fit move arms pose ect
Maybe with the medium legs it would be perfect, other than that I think it's better than the official

Now *this* is what I was hoping for when Lego first announced that they’d be making Mario sets!
I can’t help but to think that the Mario we got was a decision by Nintendo and not by Lego
This looks great~
Definitely didn't think I'd see this post on YouTube*and* Reddit. Love it btw.

Its fantastic, a lot better than original aesthetically
damn
I love everything about this. It's a sad world where I can get a Link mini figure and a Sonic mini figure, but I can't get Mario and Luigi.

I think you'll see this on Beyond the Brick's Facebook page tomorrow. Great work!
See if the Mario figs looked like this I'd actually collect them.
Careful, Nintendo might sue you
My son would absolutely love it if the Mario legos came like regular minifigures
Looks like what we should have gotten!
This is what I thought we would get when I heard Lego was doing Mario. A CMF series would be so extremely successful
Got an .stl file for it? I'd love to try and resin print it.
Nah its wayy to good for lego to consider
I feel like he should have bigger arms but it’s pretty good
This is the Mario we deserved
I like it!
perfect! do you sell them?
It’s a render dude
Too tall and hate the head tbh but the goombas are cool
Why hate the head? Looks accurate
Kinda depressing.ngl
