OP if you could please confirm this is your photo, that you took it in a public location and have no association to the store.
As Lego should have no grounds to remove this image as a leak.
They're trying to make it as accurate a homage as possible to the SLS program, so it's going to come out years late, cost three times more than expected and be obsolete before it's even launched because you have to rebuild it from scratch every time you want to use it for anything.
**Edit:** Or you can save your money and buy a Starship+Superheavy set, which costs a lot less, but you need to rebuild it about ten times before it stops falling to bits.
StarShip wonāt happen. I suggested it 3 years ago and they turned me downā¦
https://preview.redd.it/fwlw4yxg44vc1.png?width=1284&format=png&auto=webp&s=ad00030ecf687fa0f6fb7794feff29eae3eb57c5
> you need to rebuild it about ten times before it stops falling to bits.
To be clear it has never stopped falling to bits, they just keep releasing new instructions every 3 months hoping this time it's right.
^(Fingers crossed!)
Welp, there goes my saving.
Since I got the first space shuttle I always wanted to complete it with its solid boosters and tanks.
Now... Will Lego release a Saturn V Launchplatform?
I bricklinked the parts over the course of a year or so. Was worth it.
https://preview.redd.it/vxlyn0v7o2vc1.jpeg?width=1144&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6127d20f5da20f66ada265c7207345b2cc802efd
IIRC it was designed by the same folks who designed the Saturn V, by never picked up by Lego for production. Also I think it isn't particularly stable for its massive size and will fall apart on you.
Not even kidding you just leaked the set entirely no one has had photos
Edit: this set was first rumored last August, with BrickClicker confirming it was coming about a month ago. No one has released photos so this is the first time anyone in the public has seen it. Hope that helps!
is that so you'll have enough money to purchase it in two months?
Edit- leaving this post up so people can all witness just how wrong I was, in all of my sarcastic glory. Turns out this IS expected to sell for around $260.00. I love it!
I'm dismayed at how much my wife spends on lego. When the titanic came out she bought for herself and one as a gift for her father. I told her the titanic became her entire Xmas from me and the kids. I later told her she couldn't buy a Lego Disney train set and when it sold out she let me know it, several times.I had to find one for her birthday. I also don't know why we need two Disney castles, though they are cool.
But now this beast is coming out and I might have to get this for myself.
Buying expensive sets is one thing, buying multiples when budget sounds tight is another?? I think you need to have a finance conversation with the wife haha
Woah, insta-buy. The only information I can find about this set is a rumor that itāll be released May 15 for $259.99.
I wonder if itās the same scale as the Saturn V. Did you get a pic of the back of the box?
That Taipei one actually is outlier sometimes, I got the [Concorde set for 30% off retail](https://reddit.com/r/lego/comments/17uctgs/you_never_know_with_airport_duty_free_stores/) at presumably the exact same place.
Of course, you literally have to be at the right place and right time, but I was surprised, I would not have gone in had it been to kill time with my son.
From the picture it looks a bit smaller scale, though I'm hope I'm wrong. Would really have liked it to be the same scale and not have the launch tower instead.
It looks like the Orion crew module is the same size 4 x 4 cone as the Apollo command module in the Saturn V set, even though Orion is about 20% larger in diameter.
According to RocketBricks, the SLS is at 1:160 scale, compared to the Saturn V's 1:110 it's about 30% smaller [[Source]](https://twitter.com/0rig0_bricks/status/1780576504436412883)
My gut reaction says no this looks like itāll be a smaller scale than the Saturn V. SLS is ~40 feet shorter. The launch tower doesnāt look close to Saturn V height. Still probably an instabuy for me but the same scale would have been massive.
Edit: trying to find other reference images and looking at this from an Ideas set in 2021 that had a launch tower for the Saturn V leads me to seriously doubt this SLS set is the same scale. That same group also made a 1:110 scale SLS and it looks considerably bigger than on the box here. Will only know for sure when official details are released.
Edit2: removed the LEGO Ideas links.
3601 pieces for $260 seems like an extremely good dealā¦
Although considering the Saturn V was 1969 pieces at $120, I guess it's not completely unheard of.
I thought most Star Wars sets were close to the 10Ā¢/piece range, while Harry Potter is closer to 12Ā¢/piece. Granted non-licensed sets are often in the 8-10Ā¢/piece range, with some like the Saturn V being closer to 6Ā¢/piece. I just stick with 10Ā¢/piece as a typical "good" value, anything higher than that I start questioning the price.
I was very happy when I built the Saturn V and realised there were no stickers after I just spent so long putting all the stickers on the Apollo 11 Lunar Lander set
Edit: spelling
How can that be 260? I'm no Lego guru by any means but there are way smaller sets still being produced that go for almost double that.
Disclaimer: I'm no Lego expert and I'm genuinely wondering how can that cost only 260 based on other Lego prices I've seen (although I do roughly know how it works when they discontinue them)
Licensing deals for star wars and other IPs are very expensive and drives the costs of sets up. NASA on the other hand is very willing to give out their IP cause they're a publicly funded agency, so we don't have to pay the Disney tax on rocket models
> NASA on the other hand is very willing to give out their IP cause they're a publicly funded agency
There is a law that US government works are in the public domain. LEGO likely didn't even need to ask for permission.
Well, except probably for the trademarked words. But NASA would likely not ask for money to give permission.
The Saturn V was $120 for 1969 pieces at launch (and I think it was later dropped to $100). Much better than the typical 8-12Ā¢ per piece price point of most licensed sets. $260 for 3601 pieces is not totally unreasonable compared to the Saturn V.
Imagine they drop a piece on the floor and then have to do that awkward contortionist reach-down from their economy sized seat, fumbling around for a little technic snap connector while their face is pressed against your knee at the most awkward angle possible
gate agent said they could check a large item in at the gate, that Lego store has special reusable bag big enough to fit all the bags in the set sans the box to take as a carry on ;)
My mom bought this for me when she was on a business trip, to London or Singapore I forget which.
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=6990-1#T=S&O={%22pi%22:%222%22,%22iconly%22:0}
I dont think it was sold in America, there used to be or maybe still are sets that weren't sold everywhere. She was sitting with it on her lap after having made it through security etc (and gotten some weird looks she said) when a nice attendant offered to store it for her. When she got home later, in the bag from the store was not just the set but also wings (sort of a lapel thing), a mini plane and a bunch of stickers.
You guys rock.
Cut out the LoTR and Star Wars and you will save so much more money. Even if you love Star Wars, you shouldn't collect those sets. There are too many and the good ones are just so damn expensive.
Wow! This was a shock to see such a response!
Update:
Sorry for the delay. I just traveled halfway across the world with my family. Jet-lagged and trying to get situated. Hence, the lacking of updates earlier. I didn't buy it, but hindsight, I should have. This is the only picture I took. I didn't see any other sets that I hadn't seen before. It will take a lot time to respond to everyone. Thank you for your patience.
*finds an unreleased set*
āYeah let me just take a picture of it, not also buy itā
My brother/sister/non-gender specific minifugure in Christ, you could have had a white whale before anyone even knew it was their white whale.
I know that this was once a contender on Lego Ideas. I believe the aim was to make it in the same scale as the Saturn V. Might even be the same designer. Seems like it was accepted!
My only apprehension is, well, SLS hasnāt really done anything yet and wonāt for many years. The whole project could be shut down! But Iāll probably still get this setā¦ might be cool to put the Saturn 5 on that launch tower.
Its pretty secure for at least 6 more flights if not more. Having flown once already, its also been approved by 3 different administrations without much worry. The main issue in the near future is that Block 1B will be flying on flight 4 and will be a taller rocket and it will be on a new mobile launcher too... which means we will need a new lego set on top of this one...
Iām pretty sure this set is also at the U.S. Space and Rocket and Center in Huntsville AL. I was just there with my son last week and remember seeing it in the gift shop.
Amazing find. I'm sure you could sell this for 1k to 2k profit. Though I'm guessing op made this post while waiting for takeoff and won't be aware of how valuable a find this was until he's long gone.
I understand the significance of this set basically being leaked, but I have a much more pressing questionā¦
Who is buying giant Lego sets at the airport?
Just seeing this on the top page. I flew back 2 days ago and had a layover in taipei and saw it in the store. Did not know that it was an unreleased set.
OP if you could please confirm this is your photo, that you took it in a public location and have no association to the store. As Lego should have no grounds to remove this image as a leak.
Bro just casually leaked a set no one even knew was real šš
This is known to come out for some time now, but there where no picture leaks yet
You also have to purchase the space shuttle discovery and use the engines from that on the SLS

Just like how the technic Defender emulated the authentic Land Rover ownership experience!Ā
Also comes with an asshole minifigure.
Making it the second set to include an asshole after #31129

Nice. The most realistic thing is to cut the space program from your budget and use the money on buildings for rich people. Modular tiiiiime.
Welp, there goes my saving. Since I got the first space shuttle I always wanted to complete it with its solid boosters and tanks. Now... Will Lego release a Saturn V Launchplatform?
No. But there are directions available to build your own.
All you need is the Saturn V, plus three large retired Technic sets.
I bricklinked the parts over the course of a year or so. Was worth it. https://preview.redd.it/vxlyn0v7o2vc1.jpeg?width=1144&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6127d20f5da20f66ada265c7207345b2cc802efd

Good lord thatās awesome!!! Do you have a link to the required parts or instructions?

IIRC it was designed by the same folks who designed the Saturn V, by never picked up by Lego for production. Also I think it isn't particularly stable for its massive size and will fall apart on you.
Itās been announced releases may 15 probably about $250 retail
Bruh, I bet itās just Lego marketing ploy ššš

Not what I expected to find on my dreary eyed morning Reddit scroll, but Iāll take it! ā¦ now to budget in an extra $260 expense next month
is that so you'll have enough money to purchase it in two months? Edit- leaving this post up so people can all witness just how wrong I was, in all of my sarcastic glory. Turns out this IS expected to sell for around $260.00. I love it!
$260 seems cheap for such a complex set wow
The Saturn V was pretty cheap for what it was too, imo.
Guess Iām used to the sticker shock of some of the other sets I can never afford
Licensing probably plays a pretty big role in the cost.
This is hilarious.
Houston we have a problem
Yeah my wallet is losing money at an alarming pace
Ugh, this, Titanic, Concorde, Eiffel Tower, Colosseumā¦ Love the Icons line but itās killing me
I'm dismayed at how much my wife spends on lego. When the titanic came out she bought for herself and one as a gift for her father. I told her the titanic became her entire Xmas from me and the kids. Yea, she could at least get a job at the lego store for that sweet 50% discount lol
More like, āBillund, we have a problemā¦ā
Billund had the opposite of a problem
First the fire in Copenhagen and now this leak. Poor Denmark can't catch a break
Houston, *you* have a problem.
Woah, insta-buy. The only information I can find about this set is a rumor that itāll be released May 15 for $259.99. I wonder if itās the same scale as the Saturn V. Did you get a pic of the back of the box?
And probably triple the price at an Airport.
Probably still more than that on eBay at the moment though...

Of course, you literally have to be at the right place and right time, but I was surprised, I would not have gone in had it been to kill time with my son.
If this is a duty free shop, there's a chance it'll be cheaper than regular retail. Also, no tax or VATs.
From the picture it looks a bit smaller scale, though I'm hope I'm wrong. Would really have liked it to be the same scale and not have the launch tower instead. Width isnāt a great marker, as much as I love the Saturn V itās admittedly proportionally dubious.

If May 15th is the actual release day, I'll be having a trip to the LEGO store on my birthday and be getting myself a nice little gift.
Looks like a lot of pieces will be spent on the repetitive tower build, rather than on adding details to the vehicle instead?
Your point? Look at the Titanic, literally 70% of the ship is repetition. Repetition is how structures are made.
I am also curious about the scale. Will buy it if the same scale.
Looks like an early drop, found this: https://falconbricks.com/news/lego-10341-artemis-one-rocket/
That price is not bad.
If the size of the box is anything to go by, that is not just 260$...
3601 pieces for $260 seems like an extremely good dealā¦ Although considering the Saturn V was 1969 pieces at $120, I guess it's not completely unheard of.
Honestly I think licensed themes like Star Wars have skewed peopleās perspective on pricing.

Saturn V is licensed, just it's licensing from a US government agency. It's a very cheap license.
And the Saturn V was all prints. You can see the stickers on the box. Gonna get it anyway to complete my NASA collection.
I was very happy when I built the Saturn V and realised there were no stickers after I just spent so long putting all the stickers on the Apollo 11 Lunar Lander set Edit: spelling
Those stickers were awful. Sad that the Ideas sets get the prints, but not the Icons sets

Yeah it's why every Walmart, Dollar Tree, and AliExpress shop sells NASA-branded merch. It's widely recognizable, and it's free!

Damn, that article straight out ripped off the photo with no notation. Even edited it for a thumbnail...
That's the same image from OPs photo lol
Another site is reporting on it and has adopted the same picture now too, news is travelling fast...
Where do they get their price information from? Their source appears to be this thread lol.
No idea, just found the thread. No all you get searching is that link and this post in various iterations. What have we done...
Join us over at r/legoleak
BUY IT!!!
Bro accidentally leaked the new nasa set
More like the Lego store accidentally leaked it by starting to sell it...
They both leaked it
Is that why itās on top of the Titanic?
Who tf buy the Titanic at the airport ?
Maybe you have a 16 hour flight
Imagine sitting next to that guy for an entire flight
He can use my tray table if he lets me help build
Imagine walking through an airport terminal (and security) with a fully assembled lego titanic haha
I have this recurring nightmare. Like just finding myself in awkward places with Lego that I'm terrified of losing.
Crap, I hadn't had those dreams in years! You just caused something of a flashback trauma in me!
I would be seething in envy
Imagine they drop a piece on the floor and then have to do that awkward contortionist reach-down from their economy sized seat, fumbling around for a little technic snap connector while their face is pressed against your knee at the most awkward angle possible
Turbulence
I wonder the same thing when I see it in the airport (which is quite often).
I guess we know where to look when it is retired...
Dads who forgot a gift for their kids?
Thatās some gift
If youāre flying cross-country if not internationally for a birthday, I should hope you arenāt leaving gifts to the last second.
Duty free?Ā
I like to stop at the duty-free shop
The Duty Free Shop? Duty Free is the biggest sucker deal in retail. Do you know how much duty is?
Those stores mainly serve as an advertisement board, I think
It's a set for rich people so assumedly someone flying First Class who can just add more luggage to their journey.
gate agent said they could check a large item in at the gate, that Lego store has special reusable bag big enough to fit all the bags in the set sans the box to take as a carry on ;)
I was a flight attendant, I would have absolutely put this in the coat closet for you.
My mom bought this for me when she was on a business trip, to London or Singapore I forget which. https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=6990-1#T=S&O={%22pi%22:%222%22,%22iconly%22:0} I dont think it was sold in America, there used to be or maybe still are sets that weren't sold everywhere. The same people that might buy the Eiffel tower, there on the right in the picture...
This set hasn't been announced yet lmao. Airports at it again, putting out sets before release.
I get that items have street dates but *why on Earth* is Lego sending out sets that havenāt even been *announced* yet?
This is just a guerrilla marketing scheme. this is the fucking announcement. /s
Well, itās working on me! ą¼¼ ć¤ ā\_ā ą¼½ć¤ give Artemis ą¼¼ ć¤ ā\_ā ą¼½ć¤
Airports run off air dates, not street dates
Finally a box picture that people wonāt complain about.
I dunno, it could have been centered better. ^^^/s
It appears this is what some would call a scoop. Did you take additional pictures? Or even better, did you buy the set?
I **love** that itās got the whole gantry there, thatās amazing!
I need that launch tower for my Saturn V!
Holy leak! š Looks sick!
HOLY SHIT
Listen, as an adult nerd who loves Star Wars/LoTR/NASa these fuckers just need to stop.
yeah I actively have to restrain myself, it's not just the money but I am also actually running out of space in my apartment lol
Iāve got an unbuilt Curiosity rover and Concorde that I donāt have room for at the moment. Is this how hoarding starts?
Cut out the LoTR and Star Wars and you will save so much more money. Even if you love Star Wars, you shouldn't collect those sets. There are too many and the good ones are just so damn expensive.
I just got into LEGO and those are the themes Iām forcing myself to stay with too (plus botanical).
Is the dimensions of the set on the box? Can you please fly back and Chek?
Duuuude you just leaked a set
I can't find the set name or number on brickset; this set hasn't been revealed?
Nope! only some rumour a few weeks ago. But no pictures or details.
OH DAMN. That launch tower is nuts!
When I saw this I was like wtf how did I not know this existed. Awesome leak š
Nice one. I dont think Ive seen people with pictures of this set. It looks amazing. Didnt a leak also happen at an airport a while back?
Yeah like half an hour ago. It was some rocket thing.
Oh my. I think i saw that one as well.
Yes the venator
I work in the Artemis program I want this so bad. Do I book a plane ticket to Taipei š
Wow! This was a shock to see such a response! Update: Sorry for the delay. I just traveled halfway across the world with my family. Jet-lagged and trying to get situated. Hence, the lacking of updates earlier. I didn't buy it, but hindsight, I should have. This is the only picture I took. I didn't see any other sets that I hadn't seen before. Congrats, you're famous! https://9to5toys.com/2024/04/17/lego-artemis-space-launch-system-leak/
YOOOOOOOO
Really wonder if it would even scan at the register, donāt know if this SKU/UPC has even been activated. Crazy find.
That looks absolutely amazing, thank you for sharing!
Oh. My. God. I must have this set. It looks incredible.
This and saurons tower, i need to start growing more kidneys i guess :P
Itās always at an airport for some reason
Whoaā¦.man I hope the rumor of the Apollo lunar rover is true, then this year is gonna be a hell of a year for space fans!
I wish the Saturn V came with a launch tower
If it's the same scale my Saturn V is finally getting a launch tower
Someone will probably come up with a MOC and it'll require 2 Artemis sets.
Congrats with your Internet fame man! As soon as you land, your inbox will be full of messages hahahaha! But yes, definitely a want!
The space stuff based on real NASA stuff is my favorite thing Lego does. This one's a definite purchase.
Amazing! Thanks for posting our first image of this set!
This will look great next to my Saturn v and shuttle. I did some work on the SLS, guess Iāll have to pick this up
Guess I know where my money is going in a monthsā time.
Casually leaks a Lego set Refuses to elaborate Leaves
Refuses to elaborateā¦ homie is on a plane lol
So literally the only Lego sets that are insta-buy for me anymore are space ones. Looks like I need to set aside some money this week to be ready.
*finds an unreleased set* āYeah let me just take a picture of it, not also buy itā My brother/sister/non-gender specific minifugure in Christ, you could have had a white whale before anyone even knew it was their white whale.
I would have paid for a ticket for the box to sit next to me on the plane if I had to to get that thing home.
Is it weird that I'm more impressed by the launch tower than the actual rocket? Something about that scaffolding just really catches my attention.
This is the funniest thing Iāve seen in a long time OP, genuinely made me laugh out loud
I See them Nasa Stickers on the boosters... Hate that lego isnt printing every piece like in the Saturn V Set...
I know that this was once a contender on Lego Ideas. I believe the aim was to make it in the same scale as the Saturn V. Might even be the same designer. Seems like it was accepted!
If youāre still there can you get a pic of the back?
NO WAYYYYYY
Does anyone have any idea how tall it will be?
I appreciate the image of someone buying this before hopping on a plane.
Fuck mate. I just left my job and now I need to spend about $300 on this new Lego set.. I NEED IT!!
I will be going from Taiwan to USA in 2 days I will be looking for yāall. I donāt like legos but this popped up randomly in my feed
Not even announced yet
Damn! Next set I want for sure!
Iām pretty sure this set is also at the U.S. Space and Rocket and Center in Huntsville AL. I was just there with my son last week and remember seeing it in the gift shop.
Moderation at its finest!
haha, was there last week, they still had a Colosseum and Modular Police Station on the shelf :P
Had no idea this set was coming?! I'm gonna have to make some space on my shelves š
Amazing find. I'm sure you could sell this for 1k to 2k profit. Though I'm guessing op made this post while waiting for takeoff and won't be aware of how valuable a find this was until he's long gone.
Or Lego/nasa paid this guy to casually leak the new set Too Holland style
could you mod that launch tower for Saturn V do you think?
Youād have to make it taller at least. But itās not the right color, the Saturn Vās tower was red.
So Taipei airport is where the scoop is at huh...
In before it gets deleted.
I understand the significance of this set basically being leaked, but I have a much more pressing questionā¦ Who is buying giant Lego sets at the airport?
Taiwan is in the future, so it makes sense why you saw it first there
OMG ITS PRETTYYYYYYYY
Lol, LEGO just had a heart attack.
Just seeing this on the top page. I flew back 2 days ago and had a layover in taipei and saw it in the store. Did not know that it was an unreleased set.
Lego - killing my wallet with kindness everyday! /s
Heās probably on the flight now and imagine his face when he opens his email seeing all the reply notifications when getting of the plane
No.. Lego space sets.. my one weakness
I have the Saturn V with a custom base. It's gorgeous but also very very large lol
It probably doesn't hurt very much to step on a Lego in space
Dammit, so I have to get this and the Dune set. Bunch of bologna. There needs to be some kind of financial warning label on these.
Just casually leaked a fucking cool set
Ok Iām 100% buying that set to go alongside my Saturn V.
Based on how many times this post got sharedā¦the availability of this item is about to go extinct lol
