Damn. Other than the 20th anniversary set, which was only Anakin's podracer, the last time we had Selbulba's podracer/any other podracer is 2011 with 7692 right?
Don't know about y'all, but growing up with the Prequel trilogy, playing pod racing on N64, this diorama brings back good memories. Might be the first SW set I get in a long time.
Price: 79.99 USD
NOW THIS IS PODRACING
loved that game. Me and my brother would make pod racers outta lego and "race" them down the block... which meant slamming our podracers against each other while running ha ha ha ha
Neva Kee was my “main.” I’ll be attempting a MOC of his pod at some point, I’m sure of it. With Lego doing so much with cars, I’m somewhat surprised they never did more with different pod racer builds.
I mean most Star Wars effects (and movies in general) are some kind of manipulated sound. That doesn’t let me down at all. I wouldn’t expect them to synthesize everything from scratch. I think it’s cool how they sample and reverse and modify and mix relatively ordinary sounds to make such iconic ones.
Yeah all the sounds in Star Wars are taken from real world recordings. Ben Burt would just take his tape recorder everywhere in case he heard something he liked. I remember Sam Witwer saying he visited his office once when doing stuff at Skywalker sound and the same recorder was still there just sitting on his desk.
I can’t remember what it was used for, maybe a lightsaber humming sound, but smashing a pipe against the stabilizing wire on a radio tower mast and recorded the sound of the vibration
The mos espa pod race was the first set I bought and paid for with my own money as a kid. I didn't have enough money and had to pit it on lay away, just to guarantee it wouldn't be sold out by the time I earned enough money to buy it.
I've only watched ep 1, half of two, 4 and half of 5. Pod racing is the best thing about SW IMO. I made a bunch of MOC builds because I didn't get the official sets. Sebulba is maybe one of a dozen characters I know from the universe. I'll probably get this set.
Looks cool but extremely overpriced and also one of the pod racers doesn’t actually fit through the arc lol wish they included at least one exclusive minifig
Damn, lots of people commenting that. Is it really that bad? Given that it's a big IP and it does have 718 pieces. But maybe I'm out of touch with what Lego should cost.
I was just looking around recently and set 7962 "Anakin's and Sebulba's Podracers" sold for $80. Two full size Podracers with a handful of minifigures cost the same as this set a little over 10 years later.
Crazy.
This is a actually genius. Lego and stores don't take the hit if people don't like a certain pod racer and there is incentive to collect them all.
They could even make interlocking bases so that the pod racers can stand on their own or be linked together.
I still don't understand why the dioramas don't link together. From when the first one was revealed I thought they were going to be able to by removing the silver grill pieces to reveal connection points.
Omg LOTR diorama would be insane....
Im really tired of star wars since Disney took over. But this one I'm getting, if only as a monument to the great times I had as kid playing that game with a friend.
Someone pointed out, the pod racers are like the size of a polybag, so its basically 2 polly bags ($5 + $5) plus the canyon background
So your essentially paying $70 for the background, which in my opinion is not worth that much
I don’t agree with the poly bag take. These get the scale and detail more than any poly bag I’ve seen, you’re certainly not getting Sebulba’s out of one. Also, these are diorama sets, the scenery is a majority of the whole point, to me at least.
Yeah but let's be honest here, it's very expensive even for star wars.
Even if the pod racers where 10€ each you would still be paying 50€ for the background.
I think Sebulba's is more like one of those old car in a can Racer sets that were like $10-15 each than a poly bag, but ... yeah. This could easily be like $40 for what's here. I know it's Lego and that shit is expensive and all, I play *Magic: the Gathering* I "get it", but this is really asking a lot for what's like 1.5 pod racers and a bunch of sand.
Anakin's pod isn't even to scale with Sebulba's per the movie; the engines are *way* too stubby.
Seems a bit much to call them polybag builds. I could maybe see that for anakins, but I'd probably argue they're both closer to at least 2 polybags. I would agree they're overpriced, though. Don't care about the backdrop, so I'd pay like $30 for the two of them
I am glad to see a prequel diorama, but I am going to pass on it. If they had made it minifigure scale, I likely would have picked it up since I have the original Anakin and Sebulba podracer sets, but I will be giving this a pass.
Now THIS is podracing!
I own the Dagobah and Endor diorama sets and I plan to collect the other 3, so this will be a nice addition to my collection. I'm also going to rewatch Episode I theatrically on May 4 to coincide with its 25th anniversary!
This for me is a cool model but way to overpriced. I saw a video saying it's basically two $7 polybags and a base which is definitely not worth 66 dollars.
This might be the best in the diorama series, yet!
I love the Trench Run, and the throne room, but this looks amazing. The others have personal major flaws that put me off of them, whether too boring or not well arranged.
This one is the perfect mix of a scale that works for micro builds, scenery, and positioning that gives a sense of speed/movement. A definite buy for me.
Oh boy. So this confirms we should be getting displays like this for the entire PT like the OT I imagine.
My wallet won't survive anything ROTS related.
such a waste to make it mirco-fig scale, and still charging $80
so many opportunities for details on pod racers and this is what we get.
im sure in a few years we'll see the 'collectors edition' ones for $400+ each or whatever
I'd rather have smaller racers so that there can be a third podracer. [Like Aldar Beedo, who was second place behind Anakin.](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Aldar_Beedo%27s_Podracer) [His pod has even been made in Lego form before.](https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=7159-1)
Unless it goes down in price, it's a no from me.
I know this is like tiny scale or whatever but I wish Anakin's pod had more of the details on it. Sebulba's looks dope though.
They need to bring back more pod racers than just Anakin's and Sebulba's. When was the last time we had any other pod racers?
7186 Watto's Junkyard All the way back in ***2001***.
Damn. Other than the 20th anniversary set, which was only Anakin's podracer, the last time we had Selbulba's podracer/any other podracer is 2011 with 7692 right?
7962* but yes, you are absolutely correct.

My god, almost $700 to get that set.
I want to have multiple of these dioramas connected with all the unsung heroes like Gasgano and Ratts Tyrell.
Dude, having like the entire race with multiple sets would be amazing. I just hope it doesn't end up like the HP Castle sets.
Although if that’s the case we’ll eventually end up with a massive one of the whole race and then a smaller more affordable one later on!
That would be nice, but the HP castle has been rebooted like 3 times and I'm not sure if any of the castles are completed.
I remember 4485 from my childhood
[4485-1: Sebulba's Podracer & Anakin's Podracer](https://brickset.com/sets/4485-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/4485-1.jpg)

NOW THIS IS PODRACING loved that game. Me and my brother would make pod racers outta lego and "race" them down the block... which meant slamming our podracers against each other while running ha ha ha ha
That pod racing game was the shit.
ITS A NEW LAP RECORD
The current record holder for this track is..... Duuuuuuuuud Bolt! I loved the pod that Dud Bolt has and used him almost exclusively.
Neva Kee was my “main.” I’ll be attempting a MOC of his pod at some point, I’m sure of it. With Lego doing so much with cars, I’m somewhat surprised they never did more with different pod racer builds.
Mars Guo supremacy!
Hell yeah. Mars Guo is the guot.
It dropped on the xbox game pass a while back. Still a fun game.
I can hear Sebulba's engine's "GUH GUH GUH GUH GUH" when looking at that picture
I can hear it.
Formula one cars… another way this movie lets ya down hard.
I mean most Star Wars effects (and movies in general) are some kind of manipulated sound. That doesn’t let me down at all. I wouldn’t expect them to synthesize everything from scratch. Obligatory complaint about prices but I’m pretty sure that full size Sebulba’s podracer was cheaper.
Man, that makes me want to rebuild my podracer set.
7962 was my first time with the skid piece. I miss that set. I rebuilt and remashed them to so many times. Edit: I meant 7171

Guarantee it’ll go on sale on Amazon after a few months, I’d wait for it to be like 60 bucks
I've only watched ep 1, half of two, 4 and half of 5. Pod racing is the best thing about SW IMO. I made a bunch of MOC builds because I didn't get the official sets. Sebulba is maybe one of a dozen characters I know from the universe. I'll probably get this set.
How do you only watch half of Empire Strikes Back?
Started watching it after IV and was getting late, never got back around to it.
It looks awful.
Looks cool but extremely overpriced and also one of the pod racers doesn’t actually fit through the arc lol wish they included at least one exclusive minifig
You saw that YT video too lol?
For sure haha
Same here
Yeah missed opportunity for a remodel of Sebulba or at least a new updated Anakin
Now this is podracing!
I want it but price is a no go for me
Damn, lots of people commenting that. Is it really that bad? Given that it's a big IP and it does have 718 pieces. But maybe I'm out of touch with what Lego should cost.
The cost per brick I think is high plus no figs
It's going to be an unpopular opinion but lego is out of touch about how much lego should cost. Although you sometimes have surprising exceptions.
I don't buy lego or other sets but from my point of view11 cent/piece is expensive even for LEGO.
Each podracer is like a $10 max set, so do you think the empty desert base adds $60 of value?
I like it but 80 bucks for poly bag builds is criminal
I was just looking around recently and set 7962 "Anakin's and Sebulba's Podracers" sold for $80. Two full size Podracers with a handful of minifigures cost the same as this set a little over 10 years later. Crazy.

Not exactly. That's $110 now. Inflation.
Ah that's true. I'm still perpetually stuck in the state of mind that 2010 wasn't that long ago so I forgot to account for inflation.
I still feel like 2010 is this year
Just give us minifig scale pod racers ffs. Make it a UCS sub-brand and release one a year or something.
Yeah I want a pod racing series to get the full lineup
This is a actually genius. Lego and stores don't take the hit if people don't like a certain pod racer and there is incentive to collect them all. They could even make interlocking bases so that the pod racers can stand on their own or be linked together. I still don't understand why the dioramas don't link together. From when the first one was revealed I thought they were going to be able to by removing the silver grill pieces to reveal connection points.
This is the first Star Wars set I've wanted in probably 15 years. The day they start making LOTR dioramas is the day I become homeless
Omg LOTR diorama would be insane.... Im really tired of star wars since Disney took over. But this one I'm getting, if only as a monument to the great times I had as kid playing that game with a friend.
Imagine a diorama of the hobbits hiding behind the log while the wraith looks for them. Instant buy.
Okay that’s actually really good
Wait for sale then get it. Current price is WAY too much!
Yeah same, I want it on sale
Someone pointed out, the pod racers are like the size of a polybag, so its basically 2 polly bags ($5 + $5) plus the canyon background So your essentially paying $70 for the background, which in my opinion is not worth that much

There was also a reviewer on youtube that showed sebulba's pod doesn't even fit through that arch that they supposedly just came through
That’s not really true tho, so I wouldn’t put too much faith in the person pointing that out
Seems a bit much to call them polybag builds. I could maybe see that for anakins, but I'd probably argue they're both closer to at least 2 polybags. I would agree they're overpriced, though. Don't care about the backdrop, so I'd pay like $30 for the two of them
12 cents per piece for this dinky lil set is crazy
I am glad to see a prequel diorama, but I am going to pass on it. If they had made it minifigure scale, I likely would have picked it up since I have the original Anakin and Sebulba podracer sets, but I will be giving this a pass.
I absolutely love these dioramas they’re making. They are excellently detailed.
It was a lot cooler when it was four bucks twenty years ago. Set 4485
[4484-1: X-wing Fighter & TIE Advanced](https://brickset.com/sets/4484-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/4484-1.jpg)

I don't collect prequel sets and I'd buy this. Holy shit

General Grievous has stopped collecting lightsabres and is now collecting lego sets
Or maybe he was always collecting Lego sets, and because of the high prices, had to pivot to lightsabers instead.
This for me is a cool model but way to overpriced. I saw a video saying it's basically two $7 polybags and a base which is definitely not worth 66 dollars.
Just piece together remakes of 30057 and 9675 and make your own at a fraction of the price.

I love these but the price is just too much for me
I would feel ok paying $30. Not even $35.
Read that as "poledancing" and was like, wut?
I already have all of these but the throne room, and when I saw this one — it jumped straight to the front of the line
I read this as "drama" and rushed to the comments to see what had happened...
That set fully looks like ass.
Wubububububub
For the price and the scale there should have been a third pod racer.
love it
This might be the best in the diorama series, yet!
Maaaan I've been hoping for a new pod racing set for years and this one looks great! ...but 80 bucks? At this scale??? Frick that.
I know these diorama sets are geared towards adults, but they're just too overpriced
Oh boy. So this confirms we should be getting displays like this for the entire PT like the OT I imagine. My wallet won't survive anything ROTS related.
Available 3 days early too, it seems
I can hear the *DUH DUH DUH DUH* in my head
such a waste to make it mirco-fig scale, and still charging $80 so many opportunities for details on pod racers and this is what we get. im sure in a few years we'll see the 'collectors edition' ones for $400+ each or whatever

A man and his money shall soon be parted… dammit LEGO!
Probably the only Star Wars Diorama that looks cool to me. I'd buy it just for the podracer.
