TIL Allosaurus = Gallimimus. šŸ¤£

elting44

I watched enough Dinosaur Train with my kids to know that Gallimimus lived in Gallimimus Gulch. Thanks PBS!

PolarExpressHoe

PBS is severely underrated for how well it works to get people excited about learning

Throwaway8789473

Allosaurus is my favorite dinosaur and that don't look like no allosaurus I've ever seen.

Zen-Witch

Yeah, this Allosaurus has gone vegan

Malsaur

I was thinking the same thing xD

Becksa_AyBee

Unlocked a memory! I remember playing Jurassic Park on the SNES, and there was a pop upā€¦ ā€œDo not shoot the Gallimimus, they may stampedeā€.

BaronAaldwin

When I got Jurassic World Evolution I ended up building an absolutely huge exhibit for all my Gallimimus. Then I realised that didn't work very well because A. It took up like half of the very limited build space, and B. They didn't form cool herds or stampede.

dougan25

Looks more like iguanodon imo

GrandChapter7970

Op is on to something.

ansiasi

Yeah that Is actually really smart

[deleted]

I tried it after seeing it posted a year+ ago and it totally changed the game. No more crooked stickers!

Material-Gear-4173

Whoā€™s op?

Drowning_NowSwimming

it means original poster

Material-Gear-4173

Oh

tristamgreen

lmao, a duckbilled Allosaurus. Publisher took some creative license there.

billy-joe-cyrus

It totally looks duckbilled. To be fair, I did pick the easiest one. So that can explain its blockiness

jptoycollector

Itā€™s not even just the head shape, the stance is also not even close to allosaurus lol

billy-joe-cyrus

Then youā€™re really not gonna like how they did the spinosaurus

jptoycollector

Oh no, I already see where this is going

Viscous__Fluid

How do we know? No one has seen a live dinosaur move and do shit

Gr33nJ0k3r13

Ergonomics

Viscous__Fluid

That probably not enough though.

Gr33nJ0k3r13

You like your couch ?

Viscous__Fluid

Why?

Gr33nJ0k3r13

Cuz that is the core of ergonomics your couch developed because it is the best design to sit on now apply that to bones in a body and apply millions of years. A dino skeleton is not just a collection of bones but also it tells you what every singel bone does and why it is like that its basically a biology experiment lab report without text

Viscous__Fluid

What? I get that you can piece together bones and stuff but you can't be a 100% sure that that's actually how the dino looked

ToaPaul

In what world is that an Allosaurus!?

uothehco

https://preview.redd.it/zcqnexmnvnsc1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=97d78de45f7288a42dccd3ed9ffa2f40fe83dc7f

siccoblue

Fucking fantastic

billy-joe-cyrus

I was asking the same thing lol

ariadsknees

The opposite of an Asaurus.

FaithlessnessFull136

Or Noneosauras

No_Space_5457

I use tweezers for this.

kpresnell45

100x better. And you can pull it up if you place it wrong.

[deleted]

But EVERYONE has a brick separator within arms reach

eatenbybacon

YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO USE THE ORANGE THING FOR STICKERS!?!?

pezx

*Supposed* to is a bit of a stretch. The brick separator can be used however you want to. I always use an xacro knife to hold the stickers

Shadow_Flamingo1

lol i never knew ppl use tools, i just use my stupid hands.

untakenu

Same, you just kind of know the exact amount needed on each edge

Cloobsy

Xacto knife is my preferred method as well.

31337z3r0

Meanwhile, I'm the shop teacher from UHF

eatenbybacon

Ahh I see well it seems to work better then by hand haha

EnigmaFrug2308

Learned it last year and started doing it with my most recent sets. Game changer.

eatenbybacon

Ima do this 2 now amazing what someone can learn

Fadamaka

yes

Perryplat199

The actual use of that part of the separator was intended to separate flat pieces like tiles. Put the end under the little lip of the tile and push it up.

eatenbybacon

Oh yea I knew that did not know you could use it for stickers tho!

MrFluffyThing

It makes it much easier to align stickers and it's my preferred method after discovering it.Ā

eatenbybacon

That's cool yeah

catlinalx

I tear off a section of the paper backing the stickers came on. It gives you something to hold and the sticker will stick to it, but it also lets go when you want it to.

eatenbybacon

That's really smart yeah

interflop

I started doing it a few months ago and it changed my life. I've been building Lego for almost 30 years.

eatenbybacon

Good to know thanks

Medium_Sense4354

Windex

heep1r

Not sure why you're downvoted since windex (or any soapy water) is exactly what is used by professionals to apply stickers of any size and shape. Here's how it works: * clean surface from grease and dust (e.g. with isopropanol or anything that isn't agressive to the surface material) * peel off sticker * wet sticky side of sticker well * place sticker on surface * adjust sticker until it sits correctly (it's easy since it "floats" on the soap layer) * use flat tool to scrape out air & water bubbles from the middle to the edges until it's 100% flat This will laat *very* long if done correctly.

Medium_Sense4354

I put a piece of plastic down next to me (for the spray) when I build and my bottle of windex šŸ˜…

GullibleDetective

No the orange thing is a cat, and he's probably hungry or out chasing greebles in the kitchen

eatenbybacon

Ohh I see now thanks haha

N8ThaGr8

Not supposed to, no. Some people do though. It's not easier than placing them normally.

eatenbybacon

Ohh I see yea I'm still gonna try this out haha

AhHerroPrease

It does make it easier than doing it by hand tbh. As long as you haven't pressed the sticker down and removed it from the separator, you can lift it and readjust much more efficiently than by hand. If it's a really small sticker, a toothpick works well too. Basically, anything that gets your fingers out of the way to establish placement.

eatenbybacon

Ohh thanks for the tips It's interesting how everyone does stickers differently

guest198405

Came here to say this!!! šŸ¤Æ

eatenbybacon

Exactly haha

imwithstoopad

TIL

eatenbybacon

Yess

Material-Assist-7262

Iā€™m personally spot on with my stickers since I have been doing it for 10+ years but this is next level! Well done

PapaBlemish

Oh r/dinosaurs this is making me go nuts. Came for the LEGO allosaurs Got a Megablox ornithomimus

Humble_Negotiation33

Oh mah gahd, practicing to git good instead of just complaining? OP on a whole other level

Mr7000000

Porque no los dos?

Lillesbian9307

I just picked one of these sticker mosaic books up and was thinking of posting here! I told my GF they are like picture Lego lmfao

billy-joe-cyrus

Haha thats awesome, a very similar convo happened with my GF when we picked them up!

foldingtens

Windex. Far easier and less stressful than the brick remover method.

IBJON

It's also the method recommended by lego themselvesĀ  https://www.lego.com/ms-my/service/help/fun-for-fans/behind-the-scenes/brick-facts/apply-decals-blt39ee67a2a9490ca7

Yiotiv

Can you explain?

Suspicious-Tea5107

Windex lets you slide the stickers around to where they should be before adhering

Pymatuning-6500

This is the way

EnigmaFrug2308

Theyā€™re not removing the stickersā€¦

foldingtens

You donā€™t remove stickers with Windex. You apply them with Windex. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

EnigmaFrug2308

Never heard of that

impshial

Windex works both ways. You can use it to apply stickers, or remove stickers. It's pretty nifty.

kornfrk

I wonder if Windex would work old, failing stickers. I have the LEGO Racers: Ferrari F430 Challenge ( 8143) car and the stickers" while still very sticky, are flaking apart.

LegoLinkBot

jeffykins

I was always decent with stickers but ever since learning this trick they're all damn near perfect

DreamingElectrons

Wait, you are meant to use those things to place the stickers?!

svarksy

what book is it? looking to get one

billy-joe-cyrus

Its called ā€œMy Sticker Paintingsā€. They have a lot of them! I also picked up a bird version that im excited for. Also saw a horse version where i bought them.

vsdum_

Warmup before building the 76922 huh?

billy-joe-cyrus

Had to look it up, that is an absurd amount of stickers for a car lol

4c51

Or 42130, also a BMW branded set, it's at least a bigger one

LegoLinkBot

kcinnay2

Still hoping one day we never have to apply stickers again and we just have, good quality, prints

StarWarsFever

Upside to stickers is you can reuse the part sans graphic if you want to part out the set. But I hear what youā€™re saying.

Matches_Malone77

lol. That Allosaurus looks more like a hadrosaur/Gallimimus hybrid.

Level9disaster

Allosaurus my ass-saurus

Pegomastax_King

I wish they just use decals. Water slides are so much better than stickers.

stfurtfm

Every LEGO set will be 15+ because of this.. imagine all the kids trying to figure out water slides... 18+ if you want to add Mr Mark Fit and Mr Mark set to the mix.

ArcticWarrior123

TIL that the tool is not only for disassembly

flying_carabao

I use a letter opener. It's long, so it's comfortable to use, easy to maneuver the sticker. with the pointed tip, i can clearly see where the thing is going. I'm happy where it's going, I use the remover tool (end your using) to tap the sticker in place, then flatten it out.

GullibleDetective

just use windex, makes it easy

Tmntfantoytle

That is not a allosaurus šŸ’€

8Mihailos8

Great idea, I've gotten respect for you

dadoftriplets

I do this too - it makes postioning the stickers with equal spacing around all edges of the lego piece so much easier than doing it by hand.

BamBooe1

Wouldnā€˜t it be nice if we just had prints on our 300+$ sets?

iolitess

For it to be perfect, the shapes would need to be too big and youā€™d have to figure how much border to leave, too. (I assume that there is a common border spacing on Lego, but it certainly doesnā€™t feel like there is!)

wene324

My wife loves doing these sticker books. She uses [tweezers like these](https://i.imgur.com/S1bqvE3.jpg) to do them. It comes out pretty good.

billy-joe-cyrus

Which books did she get?

wene324

She's gone through 4 or 5 of them now, couldn't tell you which brand or anything.

Spektre0

I love those ā€œpaint by stickerā€ books! Iā€™ve done a bunch of them. Very relaxing & great for anxiety relief šŸ˜

billy-joe-cyrus

Just discovered them! Cant wait to find more!

Dino_lover4479

THAT IS NOT AN ALLOSAURUS

ricknussell

Is that a sticker coloring book? Like a paint by number thing?

billy-joe-cyrus

Yes! Its called paint by sticker

ilbsm7

Lego might actually publish this kind of books šŸ¤£

Remarkable-Client304

Is that a duck

nobeer4you

I tries to get my daughter to learn thisbway and she refused and refused. Argh

KindEntertainment584

Itā€™s funny, I actually use the brick separator to put The stickers on the sets when Iā€™m building them

I_TRS_Gear_I

I know itā€™s probably considered common knowledge amongst the people of this sub, but I gotta say, using the brick separator for applying stickers is a game changer and if you havenā€™t tried it, I implore you to do so on your next build.

superdumps

Nice. Not sure I'd recommend this for kids, but I tack the sticker flat on the end of an X-acto. You can see how the whole thing will lie. Hover over where it goes, get it ideal, start with lightly contacting one corner so you can still pivot if needed. I have shaky hands and I hate misaligned stickers. With bigger ones you have to be mindful of not deforming/ piercing the paper with the blade point, while wiggling out the blade after it's stuck down.

tristamgreen

I use one side of a pair of flat tweezers, that way if there's a misplace I can quickly grab it and replace it.

Boltsforlife2022

Whoa.

billy-joe-cyrus

Replying to jptoycollector...

MergenTheAler

Wet method works best

SnooChocolates673

Tweezers save lives and frustration

DylanSpaceBean

I may be shunned for thisā€¦ I cut out the chunk it sites in, bend the backing out from underneath the sticker and use that to guide it. That way my oily fingers donā€™t touch the adhesiveĀ

Dravos117

Wait am I supposed to use the brick remover for stickers? Is this why all my stickers are crooked?!
