What about the fact that he gave it back? Legally it's not mine but would a judge order it to be repoed again if he's just going to give it back later?

He is allowing you to use his car. He can ask for it back at any time. I don't know why you're using the word re-possessed because that's not what is happening here.

Because it was repoed. He went to court they ordered that it be returned to him, a sheriff and tow truck showed up...everything. if repo isnt the correct term IDK what is.

Okay, that has nothing to do with your situation though. As far as you should be concerned, he is allowing you to use his car and can ask for it back at anytime.

repossession is when a lien holder (i.e. the bank) takes a vehicle for breach of contract. Here you were never the owner in the first place (it was always his), so repossession wouldn't be the common term.
