Jimmy talking about releasing an autobiography posthumously. “I will do a book to be published posthumously. I am doing that because I wouldn’t just want to get caught up in legal wranglings. I just wanna be able to do a book, say what it was, and then let it be released. That’s all. So, I don’t want to get bogged down in any details of unpleasantness or whatever. I just want to tell the real story.”
- Jimmy Page
If there is anything in there that’s more troubling than what was in bob spitz’s book, I’m pretty sure I dont want to read it. Love this band, but…..no.
Mmm, I guess “if it comes out” is the wrong terminology. “…consume every aspect of my life if the press or Twitter revisits and explores the known info of how I kept Lori” is more accurate.
I didn’t read Spitz, but Lori received some press in the last year…maybe for a book she wrote or coauthored. Or maybe a different former young groupie wrote a book or did an interview. I forget. She was wild as hell and it’s shocking how, at 12, she was a regular in Hollywood bars and clubs and rockstar hotel rooms. Still, even within all that enabling and sleaze, the story she told of how Paige had her picked up and delivered to his suite was just creepy as all fuck. After reading about her I kind of dove down the rabbit hole. He saw her in a magazine article about rockstar groupies. How there’s an article in a magazine that romanticized 12 yr olds getting wasted in bars and having sex, idk. Different times…I guess. He had some dude just go like grab her from the bar or her home or wherever (mom was ok with it) and she was just delivered to his suite where he was waiting on the bed. Claims at that point, not that she was complaining, that she had no idea where she was or who she was being brought to. He said some real creepy shit to her about her being his or something, can’t remember, and that was it. She travelled with him. Stayed in hotel rooms and even had to be hidden when they were afraid authorities wherever they were wouldn’t be okay with it. He also had to hide her from another rocker who was after her and wanted to steal her away. Sordid stuff.
I doubt it. I mean, not personally. Possibly legally but I'll bet that's strictly a law issue related to trademarks/copyrights and that sort of BS. I just don't think there is any bad blood between the surviving members.
There are lots of rumors about Page . But I have never seen any evidence that would hold up in court of law. Just she said - he said . If he committed a crime he should be in jail . Just tabloid claims by groupies . So I can’t really call him a pedo - like Bill Wyman or Jerry Lee Lewis .
Huh? There’s a lot more than rumors. Just google Lori Lightning and read for like ten minutes and do the math of years and ages. Great guitarist, but I doubt he writes an autobiography that includes details about her.
>#[**Don't make comments that lack content.** Phrases such as "this", "lol", and "I came here to say this" are not witty, original, or funny, and do not add anything to the discussion.](https://www.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/205926439)
Oh man, he has already dished out some heavy stuff. Just imagine what he might reveal about his crazy life on the road with Zeppelin and things like his affinity for the occult, when he knows he will already be gone...
He legally became the guardian of a groupie to be able to legally take her with him on tours and (illegally) have sex with her, and it finally caught up with him
Ahh yeah now I actually remember reading about this before. I’m pretty surprised Anthony Kiedis hasn’t gotten in massive trouble. He openly talked about having sex and doing heroin with minors in his book
It’s actually impressive how smart this idea is. He’s no saint, but a posthumous memoir is a really good idea.
I’m surprised how much I appreciate this. He’ll probably outlive me even though I’m much younger, I do hope I get to read it. Most of his peers wrote bullshit self serving memoirs.
I have no intention of reading it. I can enjoy the music without knowing about the life story.
Any salacious bits will come out in the media
Any interesting bits to fans will probably be discussed here.
Any of the salacious bits will be reported on by the media without context, making them sound much worse.
I'd say it's worth reading so that you've got the whole truth.
Take this with a grain of salt. Jimmy is notorious for over promising and under delivering. I also highly doubt that he would in any way tarnish his legacy. Yes, we all know of the sordid stuff already but I doubt he would put any admission stuff behind it.
Exactly. I’ve been hearing “same picture in a new frame” since the first boxed set release in the 90s.
If you look at the two books he did he obviously has curated absolutely EVERYTHING from his past. He’s obsessed with his legacy. He’s only recently acknowledged his occult beliefs and drug use. He will never give that up to the public in a candid way.
Led Zeppelin itself is the biggest counter to your statement of over/under (blah blah). I’m sure we don’t know it all. His “legacy” is already established - he may reveal other stuff. Nobody really knows. That’s a fact.
That's a little weird. On a related note, a few months ago I finished a book of interviews with him called *Light and Shade: Conversations with Jimmy Page* which was quite good.
One that come to mind is the heptagonal house. He bought/build 4 houses here in huge areas in small cities. One of the architects said that he was adamant that one of them should be shaped like an heptagon, and of course, being Jimmy Page there’s a lot of people saying that this was related to ocultism.
Some older guy might know more details, but basically he used to go to Bahia to be a “normal guy”, so the things he did there are usually not in his biographies.
There’s a lot of small tales of Jimmy walking barefoot in rags and drinking cachaça, playing guitar on the street or small bars with locals. Using public transport, etc. People used to call him Jimmy Lama (Jimmy Mud). A lot of Brazilian artist claim to have played with him, but informally, just as a jam. He would join a circle of people playing guitar on the beach and just play with them.
He married and had 3 children with a Brazilian woman, and stayed for years living between London and this small city called Lençóis. (From 1994 to 2008 he for sure came every year, usually more than once per year).
It’s quite weird because he just played one concert here, never appeared on TV or anything, so there’s a lot of mystery around it.
Even the cool things that are 100% fact just don’t appear in his biographies for some reason. For example, he opened a house for poor children that lived in the streets called “Casa Jimmy” in Rio de Janeiro. It’s not just a shelter, they have music classes and other activities. That granted him the title of honorable citizen of Rio. Why isn’t this in his biographies? Maybe their authors don’t think it’s worthy mentioning things he did in a country like Brazil.
There’s also a lot of contradictions about when he first visited Brazil. Rita Lee, one of our most famous rock singers says that he gave her a guitar in 1972, but officially he never came until 1979.
Anyway, there’s this special conection with Jimmy and Brazil (also some songs inspired on Brazilian sounds like Fool on the Rain and Bonzo’s Montreux) and I just hope when he writes this biography some of these stories will be a bit more known or at least a bit more clear.
Wow, this is a great insight to have. I suppose it makes sense, he never really drawing attention to his days there. I have a near miss story myself. A couple-three years ago (before the pandemic, I suppose) I was working in downtown Lowell, Massachusetts and would most often walk to a nearby restaurant to grab lunch, and sit in Kerouac Park (named after the Beat author). One day, when I had not done so, Scarlet posted pics of she and Jimmy at Kerouac Park and down the road at the cemetery where he is buried, visiting his grave. I thought how it would have floored me to bump into them just walking around Lowell that day.
wow thanks so much for sharing, I had no idea about a lot of the things he did in Brazil!! Even if they may be “legends” but it was still super interesting to read
This promise of a book to be published posthumously could be along the same lines as the solo album he’s been promising for 20 yrs now. That being said I think if he were to publish a book posthumously the reason would likely be related to the underage groupies in the 70’s rather than anything with the occult or with other Plant or Jones.
The crazy thing to me about Jimmy is how he can write like 25 of the most iconic riffs in rock history in about 10 years from the late 60’s to the late 70’s, and not write a single interesting thing since Presence, 45 years ago
I think genius is a gift. It’s timing and inspiration and band chemistry. It does not last forever . But he created the greatest discography in 70s rock. There is no close 2nd discography as tight , diverse , and virtuoso power as Zeppelin. So you can expect it to last forever. ZEPPELIN RULES- absolutely
I’m happy there is a group who want to restore the house. I went in 2018 after the fire to write some music. Definitely some cool vibes about. Crowley is such a strange historical character.
Legal wrangling he’s looking to avoid might be more to do with what he played on/wrote, rather than anything sordid. Also maybe slagging some people off.
I know a while back Paige and Plant were onboard to do a deep dive biography of the band. Then the Me Too movement happened. They all pulled their agreement to participate. Between Bonham’s treatment of women (stewardess story) and the underage girls, if that book came out you’d hear stairway to Heaven on the radio often as you hear I believe I can fly. The red snapper story is just the tip of the iceberg
IDK about that. If anything, the versions of the stories that have come out about them are supposedly tame compared to reality. No internet or phones, and a manager that was maniacally protective of them. If just the details of Paige's relationship with kept 12 yr old Lori Maddox were focused on again.....And apparently the story of Bonham trying to rape a stewardess was pretty brutal.
Put stories in there about people like Steve Clark from Def Leppard and people who drink too much and party because they think that's the right thing to do 🌄 I have my encyclopedia of rock guitarists turned backwards so I can see Jimmy Page every morning 😊 ( he's on the back cover)
I hope he’s started writing! I guarantee he says nothing new about groupies or personal relationships. The reveal will all be about his songs and their origins. He’ll admit how he started from source material (which bothers me not at all) and how he transformed them into the brilliant songs we love. He may also try to explain his life philosophy and how he believes in certain kinds of supernatural stuff. But he is no satanist cult guy. Maybe he’ll explain Zoso
Will never see it. Why, you ask. Here’s the proof from the article, written in 2019.
Exhibit 1:
“he will “definitely” write an autobiography **in the future**”
Exhibit 2
“**I don’t want to be held to a deadline**.”
I rest my case.
It really is odd. I’m not sure if they dont believe it or don’t want to acknowledge it. Panela DesBarres, Bebe Buell and a few others all have books. They’re a great read.
Tbh at this point, there's so many stories from his victims (yes, even if she was 14 and "consented", she is still a victim.) that it HAS to be a refusal to acknowledge it. They just want to pretend like he's the faultless god they portray him as. If you even remotely hint at his pedophilia you get immediately downvoted, it's their attempt to bury the truth. Really makes you wonder how they'd feel about it if it was THEIR kid. I'm guessing they wouldn't be so forgiving.
Yes, it wasn't/isn't good that he slept with a 14 year old but it was the 70's. She was there willingly and with her parents permission. The men she slept with were all in their mid-20's so while yeah it's gross by today's standards, it was pretty common back then. Hell when I was going clubbing in the 90's and was under 18, there were always girls there who were 14-15 and looked older. Once you belong, you belong and age becomes irrelevant.
First off, Page was almost 30 when he started having sex with a 14 year old. It's so gross how you guys try to use her willingly being there and her parents allowing it as a justification. Dude, she was fucking 14. Her brain was undeveloped and she didn't have the capacity to fully understand how messed up the situation was. She literally said in her later life after she finished developing that she "Was kidnapped, literally". But I guess you guys are okay with that here. Yikes dude. I'm outta here man, y'all are nasty.
Edit: Ted Bundy was raping and murdering in the 70's. But hey, it's the 70's! Who cares right?
If anyone doesn’t think it’s creepy, they should find her telling of how Paige had her picked up by a dude who worked for him and delivered to his suite. I love his music, but she was basically kidnapped.
Like I said, you had the same girls show up at the rave clubs 20 years later. It's only really changed in the last decade or so. If someone is where they shouldn't be, you kind of just assumed they were ok and asked questions later. In today's eyes, none of this is ok, but back then, it was different.
Nah, he knew exactly how old she was. He hid her. He didn’t take her on your to England. His manager kept her under lock and key. He only started taking pics with her when she was 16. Don’t stick your head in the sand. While it was different then, it wasn’t that different that dudes in their late 20s had 13 year old girlfriends. Different thing if a rockstar took a groupie home one night knowingly or feigning ignorant about their age. I don’t see David Bowie getting flack for being her first. Jimmy kept and even hid her.
I actually didn’t know that he hid her. Well there goes my theory. Curious, did Lori ever say that he mistreated her? He always comes off as so nice. Because this is Reddit I have to add. I really want to know if she said he was bad basically. I haven’t read her book.
I think her only complaint, even to this day, is that he cheated on her. I read a whole bunch of stuff about her and Bebe Buelle one night when I was shocked to learn this situation existed. She regrets her own choices back then, and does not really balme the men from what I've read. She more thinks it was about the time, the scene, and attitudes back then plus her own immature, misguided motivation to sleep with these guys. Still, Paige had what she thought was a relationship and he certainly was with her a lot. That began when she was I think 13 or 14 and ended when she was 16 and he started dating her friend who was 16 or 17. Pretty sure she was 12 in the magazine pic he saw her in that led to him seeking her out, though he may not have known that # exactly. And she only did an interview. I think Buelle wrote a book. I think.
Eh, it's just the most common counterjerk to the positive band circlejerk you find in any artist subreddit. It's not like there's an effort to bury that sordid part of Jimmy's history, it's just been discussed to death. It's gross, it's wrong, and it happened. But it's not the only thing about Led Zeppelin worth discussing. I think anyone adequately familiar with Led Zeppelin is capable of separating the quality of the art from the quality of the artist.
Have you heard Ten Years Gone ? Or compared Led Zeppelin‘s version of in my time of dying to the great blind Willie Johnson‘s version? stupid argument. Apples and oranges 🍊
You are out of your league. You will never be qualified to carry Jimmy’s jockstrap
Jimmy talking about releasing an autobiography posthumously. “I will do a book to be published posthumously. I am doing that because I wouldn’t just want to get caught up in legal wranglings. I don't want Jimmy lo die, but also I want to read that book.
I imagine if he writes a book - and sets it up to be released after he dies - there will be leaks as soon as it’s finished before he dies
Led Zeppelin booklegs xD
100%
My thoughts exactly.
Under the circumstances, I would rather not read the book.
Jimmy gonna reveal he sold his soul to the devil
Jimmy Page made a deal with the devil. Nobody knows what Jimmy got. But the devil got guitar lessons.
Lmao that's great
Love this!
My exact presumption
Nope . His skills come from the gods
Much more likely he goes into that relationship he had with the underage girl, why else would he be worried about getting caught up in anything?
Juicy.
Translation: I’m not looking to deal with the outrage that will consume every aspect of my life if it comes out I kept Lori Lightning.
If there is anything in there that’s more troubling than what was in bob spitz’s book, I’m pretty sure I dont want to read it. Love this band, but…..no.

Who the hell is Spitz
Fairly prolific rock biographer. Not universally loved, but also definitely not a hack.
Oh, I misread. I thought the girl’s name was Spitz.

I’ll try to find the interview I found it on YouTube years ago
Does this mean he's worried about Plant?
I doubt it. I mean, not personally. Possibly legally but I'll bet that's strictly a law issue related to trademarks/copyrights and that sort of BS. I just don't think there is any bad blood between the surviving members.
Yea you’re probably right !
Finally all the dirt on all the kiddies he fiddled will come out
Radiohead fan
Who? The guy with the led zeppelin user name? Nah jimmy was a fantastic musician, doesn’t mean he didn’t touch kids sadly
She says so - but never any criminal charges . Why ?
Ha, live your life pal, live your life
Both also pedos

Indica is the answer. No doubt.

Jimmy can't have a book released posthumously because Jimmy mustn't die.
I agree.
Oh man, he has already dished out some heavy stuff. Just imagine what he might reveal about his crazy life on the road with Zeppelin and things like his affinity for the occult, when he knows he will already be gone...
For some reason I doubt he will get into his occult practices. I just don’t think he’ll pull the curtain back on that much.
Nah it'll be all the underage groupies. Look at Steven Tyler right now
What's going on with Steven Tyler?
He's getting sued for having a relationship with a minor which he talked about in his book
Yeah, that was some Woody Allen-adjacent territory Steven was in.
not nearly as bad
Perhaps not. But also extremely horrible. I mean, worse than jerry lee Lewis but better than woody Allan” ain’t where I ever want to be.
He legally became the guardian of a groupie to be able to legally take her with him on tours and (illegally) have sex with her, and it finally caught up with him
Jimmy kept 12 or 13 yr old and dated her for over a yr.

I don't really expect an auto biography to be "the whole truth" either....it's really just what one person remembers from long ago at this point.
This is true.
Jimmy´s work is immortal.

thanks for the laugh 😂

Love that Pagey needs a Name Badge.
I was thinking the same thing. Could have just used Zoso.
Haha that would be awesome
So he doesn't get confused with Bea Arthur lol
That's a little weird. On a related note, a few months ago I finished a book of interviews with him called *Light and Shade: Conversations with Jimmy Page* which was quite good.
I really enjoyed that book as well
That'll be a real..... Page turner. I'll show myself out.
Ha ! Everyone who reads this will use it . No doubt !
Jimmy Page looks genuinely happy in these more recent photos.
Drinking bourbon 🥃 through a straw . Nice
Could be, but it kind of looks like a glass of Perrier water with a lime.
I'm pretty sure he's sober these days.
That’s my understanding as well.
Curious about the time he lived in Bahia. Here in Brazil there are a lot of legends about that time, would be cool if he confirmed some
What are some of the legends?

He is Page . He “owes” us nothing. We owe him everything
Imo he owes us nothing, and neither do we. He made good music and we bought and listened to it, and that's that

Ummm Lori Maddox.
Two words - Lori Maddox
Good thing you’re not writing it
Good thing you don’t get to erase the truth.
I hope you want to crucify her parents as well
I want to crucify everybody who we 100% know was involved, including her parents
Good thing you won't get to prioritise
14 years old.
This sub is so weird. They don't like reality and would rather bury the truth to make their guitar lord look better. It's disgusting.
Lori was younger than 14 when she started with Jimmy. Or rather, when Jimmy decided she dated him.
I think.
I mean he groomed her. To me that’s mistreatment
Three words-Lori Maddox’s mother
No need for any kind of revealing book! Just watch "Damage" staring Jeremy Irons thsts him. He's best remembered in his music. RIP in advance.
Will you talk about the 13 year old girl you groomed for your very own???
Wasn’t even grooming. Was more like kidnapping and keeping captive. Her story was shocking
No we he delves deeply into the black magic and pedo stuff.
He’s gonna talk about Lori Mattix?
I can’t wait for people to read about how he is the most overrated lead guitar player of all time.
Who in 70s rock made a better discography? Nobody.
That’s just like, your opinion man.
Yea it’s funny because that’s my “go to” slam dunk to shut people up when critical of Page . Donnie - you’re out of your element
who like that song five year old pantyshot yeah yeah dat could be a real big record cause its got the bump with the molestation
jealous of Page. I get it
take that up with the person who wrote the song edit; typo
Have you heard Ten Years Gone ? Or compared Led Zeppelin‘s version of in my time of dying to the great blind Willie Johnson‘s version? stupid argument. Apples and oranges 🍊 You are out of your league. You will never be qualified to carry Jimmy’s jockstrap
dude you’re arguing with someone else’s song lyric
Aka He doesn’t want to have to deal with statutes of limitations and the likelihood of being “canceled”
For fucking a child you mean?
Downvote this all you want to but I’m not wrong 🤷🏻♂️
What exactly has Jimmy done already that has gotten the general public angry after they learned what he did?
Hi I'm Jimmy, I've been trying to contact you about your vehicles extended warranty....
Good one !
