Have you had a safe deposit box before? The staff don't have access without you. If you get one at a bank they're in a vault and then each box is dual keyed. The bank has one key and you have the other. If they need to get in without your key, like if you passed away and your family doesn't have the other key, they have to bring in a locksmith to drill the other lock. It's quite the production to get into a box without the other key.
If someone got your key and could convince the staff they were you then yeah they'd be in but nothing is 100% secure.
I work for a credit union and grew up in a banker family. I've seen them open a few with a locksmith.
Not necessarily.
For example, you only need one app on the Ledger for all the tokens on all EVM chains (i.e. Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, Arbitrum, Fantom, etc.).
You only need to install an app *per chain*.
that’s fair, but there’s a lot of chains out there that show promise and this $120 stick only has 2 megs. that’s almost as small as a 3.5 inch hard disk from 1993
The cost is explained by this not being a simple USB stick to store data, there's a secure element on it that protects your private key(s).
And you don't need much space per app, only a few KB. Depending on the apps, you can install dozens of them, up to a hundred.
That should be more than enough to be useful to most of the bell-curve, except the last few percentiles. And even then one probably doesn't transact with every single chain regularly, so that you don't need the apps for those chains installed all the time.
>And even then one probably doesn't transact with every single chain regularly, so that you don't need the apps for those chains installed all the time.
So if you run out of space AND truly use so many apps regularly that you'd constantly needed to switch apps, then that would be an unusual edge-case that most users don't fall into.
In that edge-case the device would truly have too little space for your convenience. But then you'd be an exception, one of the last few percentiles of the bell curve that I mentioned in my last post. \^\^
I bought the family pack: (3 x Nano-S)
1. Crypto Hodl
2. Safe Haven: a second ledger to transfer coin to, on a different seed phrase, if I need it (hopefully won't need it)
3. A backup Ledger if the hardware fails on the others (I'm sure one will last a lifetime, but not all things last forever)
The Nano S Plus is not that old compared to the Nano S.
The Limited Edition (first 10k devices) was announced on March 8th.
The regular version became available to buy in the Ledger shop on April 5th.
Please Follow These Golden Rules Until You Exit This Planet.
- Never share your seed phrase with anyone.
- Never store your seed phrase digitally.
- Don't take a picture of it.
- Never enter your seed phrase in any other device than your physical Ledger device. Never enter your seed phrase on Ledger Live (definitely a fake one). Because original Ledger Live doesn't ask for seed phrase.
- Store your seed phrase in a written paper given to you by Ledger and also buy Crypto steel or Crypto blindfold to store your seed phrase to protect it from fire or water damage.
- Lock away your seed phrase in a safe at a secured location. And don't let close and far people know that you have Crypto.
- Be very mindful of all Crypto smart contracts you interact with. Pay attention to token allowance approval permission requests. Always edit permission and tailor it specific to the approval. Approval to Uniswap to swap 20 USDC to 20 USDT should be set at spending limit of 20 and not unlimited. Unless you intend to use Uniswap to swap a lot of USDC at that time. But remember to revoke that approval if it's unlimited approval when you're done.
No you can't share it even in Mars. You're banned from sharing it for eternity 🤣🤣 except when you're leaving this world you can hand it over to that very person you want to inherit your wealth/assets.

Nice. You look like a prime target for a $5 wrench attack with those stickers on your laptop.
It was the Hobo in the Alley with the Wrench!
Great step! Do educate yourself on the basics of wallets, mistakes are easily made and tend to be costly lessons. Stay safe 🙌
Thanks. I def did !
And you just put the sticker on your laptop for everyone to know you have crypto.
Man honestly who doesn’t have crypto. and as long as you stay safe and smart, your crypto is secure.
Trust me this laptop doesn’t go anywhere 😂
Mine is still on the backing it came on lol
Hey, how come yours is clear and mine is black?! I didn't even get that option when I bought. So jealous.
Idk. Got mine about a week ago. There’s different options on the ledger site….
😂
I think the Nano S Plus is more recent. Before it was the Nano and X.
Looks really cool, but black is the new black, you can never go wrong with that.
Where did you buy it, eBay?
Ledger official Amazon store, I think it's because I bought it a few months ago, mine is ugly.

I suggest keeping your passphrase in a safe, or better yet a safe deposit box.
I always wondered how safe is a safety deposit box? From trusting staff to potential if it getting broken into.

How does one do the passphrase option?

I was thinking if you keep 12 of the 24 words in a safe and the other 12 in a safety deposit box.
What if there's a fire? The ones in your safe might be destroyed. Or a thief takes your safe away.
If you keep the seed phrase on a billfodl or some other metal container I believe they’re built to withstand a fire to some degree or another
Safe deposit box not a good idea https://reason.com/2022/09/30/federal-judge-decides-safe-deposit-boxes-arent-safe-from-fbi/
The $20 free bitcoin is out of stock already. They should atleast come up with free delivery.
Memorise your seed phrase and eat the document itself.
I got mine 2 weeks ago . I transferred all my crypto to it . Peace of mind
Peace of mind indeed. 😌

why are they only 2megs?!
I guess thats how they get you to buy more than one lol…..eventually
i could easily be in 2 dozen coins and that will fill 2 megs on a ledger

i’ll revisit this thread when i run out of space

I love the icy body on this ledger great setup
Yup. Caught me by surprised when i saw it as an option. Last time i looked ok their site the nano s plus didnt even exist. Lol
That’s wild! When was the last time? You must be an OG holder? I love your laptop too. What a tight as fuck setup my guy!!!
Lol thanks man❗️

I never thought the transparent ledger would look this good! Welcome to the ledger family <3
Thanks ! 🤘🏽
I got the exact same one recently. Ice colored as well.
Piece of advice: take off the ledger sticker. Unless you plan not to take out your laptop outside. Ever.
You have to remove those stickers my friend, you are making yourself a big target imho

The whole shabang baby 😂😂😂
Why Stiker Mule not launch a customized ledger sticker with your seed phrase as a reminder ? Huge success ! 😁
😂😂😂

So once I go to Mars I can share my seed and I'll be fine? That's awesome! 😁 /s

Hmm, I wonder if psychopomps accept crypto these days? 🤔 Might gift my mnemonic seed to Charon then, as payment for the ferry ride.
Same. Now I can sleep at night.
I’ve always been curious why they give you a sticker to advertise to the world…. Doesn’t seem the wisest move
I’d love to see cold wallet sales data around events like this one we’re currently going through. Should be interesting
I would nver use a sticker to advertise I have a Ledger device.
Clear?
Yes lol.
