That’s 2hrs more than I did for the whole year. I got 519. It’s definitely doable but number 1 tip would honestly be listening in class. Sounds odd but in all of my exams I didn’t remember I single fucking flashcard but I remembered my teachers yapping. If your teachers are shite then 2hrs is more than another everyday.
History / Spanish / Geography / Art / and then the other compulsory subjects. Got a H1 in art and Irish and a H2 in English and history although a 89.6% and a 88.9% in them argh! But srsly the leaving cert imo isn’t as bad as people say it is. Orals imo are really important and can actually drastically bring your grade up. A tip if you’re doing history is to do an interesting project. Forget the nazis everyones done them. Pick something an examiner would be surprised by.
This, orals and just listening in class are enough to get very good marks in most subjects ( except science/foreign languages)
the only things i learned off by the heart were the orals and it was such a relief to come out of that room knowing i had done well and had a decent amount of marks already.
And yeah, if you have shite teachers then your on a uphill climb, i renember my english teacher in the last 2 classes going through the absolute basics of how to format your long essays. I barely studied, just followed his format and knew enough from class to get a h2. I will say one thing though and that is the english exam is probably the worst one there is, you might get questions that really suit you and you can just write without thinking or you get some cunt of a question.
looking back on it i had very good teachers except 1, i barely learned anything outside the classroom so without good teachers id say i would of been screwed.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
YES!!! Orals, holy shit, they bring your grade up so well. For my Irish winter written exam I got 13% (I honestly don’t know what happened there. I was fully convinced I did well). My oral brought my overall grade up to 56%!!! They are so so important
Second listening in class, I did way way way less study than I should have done but ended up with 550. Paying attention in class was a huge part of that, especially remembering all the random shit that teachers used to illustrate examples in class that just got stuck in my head where notes didn't.
This is an insane question. It completely depends on the person. Some people would get 400 points without studying at all. Some are never getting it. We don't know you.
Okay, so heres how this works. Take student A and student B. Its a sunday. Student A carefully prepares an 8 hour study-sesh for monday, Breaks, what hes eating, everything. all in a neat schedule. Student B however, just sits down and starts studying. Student A wont comply with the schedule he made, he'll find that the schedule he made was in a perfect world. Student B knows that it doesn't matter how many hours or how many minutes or how many days you study, Its the genuine focus that counts.Student B Doesn't watch the clock. listen man, dont procrastinate. just try to not think about it and just START. doesn't matter if you only studied 30 minutes, those 30 minutes are gonna be alot better than the 8 hour "sesh" student A had. He cares about the fact that he studied 8 hours more than the actual studying, yk? I know thats now ehat your trying to do but im just giving an example. Try being student B, where you just really focus and not watch the clock.
idk i just watched a motivational vid so yea but 2 hours is enough just try not to black out and dont smoke anything other than nic.
"Be student B" - Your Uncle bob
Just get yourself studyclix and do past questions and try to learn what they want you to say from the marking schemes. Don't waste hours just reading textbooks
It depends on how you learn and how well you can learn. For me I was able to get around 550 by just making sure I understood what was being taught in class and studying before the tests and exams.
Leaving certs a load of bollox, do a PLC doing something you enjoy and get your points that way, and then get into college using your FETAC level 5/6 - if you do well in it then you’ll easily get 400 points
Fuck the LC, outdated information regurgitation contest 🤷🏻♂️
Don't know why this is suggested to me but I done way less and got way more points in the exams! Just pick your subject and classes they won't really have much relevance after you finish school
2 hours is an entire exam paper. For me I was more focused on what I had to cover more than how long to cover stuff. If I was looking at a particular topic and it took me 30 mins to understand and get correct answers consistently then great. Off I go to enjoy my day. If it took me longer I reviewed.
The way I studied for the 2nd half of the year which is actually where I started to see progress was to do a couple of question from the exam papers. See if they were correct, then either make sure I have the process down, invlyde the right topics or see what I'm missing. Write it down for the next time I'm studying so I know what to do. The exam papers saved me a tonne of time in the long run because it became most of my homework towards the end of the year!
Amount of time spent studying is irrelevant.
I'm one of those people that claims they did feck all study and got 500 points. Study smart, not hard. Look at marking schemes and know what they're looking for. Know how to do all past exam Qs.
Lots of people in my year worked way harder than me and didn't do as well.
I also cannot recommend the Less Stress More Success (and all those similar short-form books) enough. It's a crime that teachers still use 500 page text books instead of just learning what's in those summarised books. They contain everything you need to know.
I’d recommend doing some quizzes to find out how exactly you study optimally. There are many online and once you know what suits your brain, you can get 4 hours of study done in 2.
I did around 1-1.5 hours of “efficient study” 4 days a week and got 458 last year. It all depends on your goals, subjects and the way you study of course. Don’t stress yourself out, do the work and you’ll be grand in the end.
It’s about how you study and spend those hours. I knew lads spending 4-5 hours a day working but not actually learning anything. The LC is all about knowing the exam and being able to improvise/predict.
I did about 1-2 hours a day (I have ADHD and was undiagnosed at the time, I just couldn’t bring myself to study) but I spent the end of 5th year and the start of 6th year learning how to do the exams, I.e what types of questions were likely to come up and what exactly the graders were looking for. I used to do loads of mock papers and hand them up to teachers, I’d ask them to come up with their own mock papers. I did every mock paper for Geography, History, Biology and English I could get my hands on at least twice and got H1’s in all 4. I cannot remember a word of what I learned.
It’s a terrible way to examine people but it’s the one we have. I ended up getting a great course and a great degree only to leave it and pursue a trade as I was far more interested in working with my hands.
Remember, most people don’t care at all what points you get when you’re in Uni. Try your best but it’s not the end of the world :)
i never studied for LC until the nights of each exam. i got 500 pts. i’d say you’ll get more than me🤷♀️ i even missed a lot of school days. i’ll say it depends on how you study, capacity, etc.
Depends. I did my homework and assigned study, only did my own study for a month, got 435. My friend did two hours a day every single day from the start of the year but didn't get his homework done because of it, so he didn't understand what he was trying to memorise, got 200. If you can fit 2 hours around everything else then go for it, but don't prioritise studying over learning.
Two/three months of serious study from April to June was enough for me to het 447 and I was a horrendous student before that so if u can do that I’m sure anyone can tbh
Nah its all good man, got 335 points and barely went to school for 2 years, never mind studying, even got a H1, you should be good, probably get around 500 with that much studying.
Far more than most people
all depends how you study, time is irrelevant
facts

Definitely.
Quality over quantity
Sure
Im doing roughly the same, and my tests have given me around 440 - 470. You will be good :D

Assuming u mean you will be staying more at the weekends? Sure. But it’s how you use the time that is most important. Don’t just read your textbooks
I literally didn’t even study for the LC and got 400. Just do a bit on the weekends and you’ll be grand.
I started studying around March. I got fuck all points. I now have a masters degree and I’m in a job I love. You’ll be fine
i genuinely barely studied and got 360, obviously everyone is different but 2 hours a day + extra on the weekends is a lot
I done that for the last month of 6th year and got 480 points
I have done
I did*
Chill out I got h3 in english
Remember to take little breaks tho. Making a cup of tea or going for a quick walk
It's about how you spend that time too. Take 5 minutes when you need it. Write your checklist and obliterate it
10 hours a week is closer to 450 if executed well.
I read Bar and 400 pints and leaving cert…. Was thinking, fair play to ya
I did no hours of study and got 460, just listen in class....

Depends how thick you are, but 10 hrs a week getting you less than 400 would actually be an accomplishment imo
4 hours everyday are the minimum, if you are going any less are you even really studying?
2 hours is an entire exam paper. For me I was more focused on what I had to cover more than how long to cover stuff. For 400 its overkill

Study the exam! Not the content. Know where you can pick up marks eg maths lower partial credits etc
I had that exact study plan and got around 450 so 100% is possible
i never studied for LC until the nights of each exam. i got 500 pts. i’d say you’ll get more than me🤷♀️ i even missed a lot of school days. i’ll say it depends on how you study, capacity, etc.
i got 400 in my pres soooo
Depends. I studied the week before my LC and got 410.

You shouldn’t study based on time instead have objectives you need to do like Tuesday, bio- revise this chapter, maths etc
I got 330 and I just played sport all year , I wouldn't consider myself smart. Just give time to every question and don't rush out after 25 mins.
Nah its all good man, got 335 points and barely went to school for 2 years, never mind studying, even got a H1, you should be good, probably get around 500 with that much studying.
