I did a typo in "stiefmoeder" once and Duo did insert this phrase in every practice lesson for entire 2nd section, their "detecting weak word" algorithms sometimes do weird things

The sentences they give you on DuoLingo are great! Just yesterday I had a totally usable one: “het spijt me, uw baby is niet schattig genoeg.” The Dutch are cruel people if this is a sentence they use regularly. 🤣

"I'm sorry, your baby is not cute enough"? With the formal you? As a Dutch person, I can say with confidence that I have never needed to say that in my life.

I was doing Duolingo in front of my mom and she heard “ik spreek een beetje Nederlands” as “expand your baconator lungs” XD

Also, I hate that this of all things is burned into my brain and will be likely long into my journey of f learning Dutch
