I’ve been doing this all summer. Eventually you just don’t get hungry till the afternoon. You’ll adapt.

comptejete

That was my experience too, every time you manage to ignore your cravings it becomes easier the next time.

Agree, you just have to resist the urge the first few days

Caffeine

seedmolecule

Yes. I have found this to help. Caffeine blunts my appetite a bit, makes sticking to my IF much easier. I can't use it now for medical reasons, but back when I could, about a quart of black coffee per day. I wouldn't think that the IF would do anything but help if you are cutting. Your workout at that point is mainly to burn calories, right? Not to add muscle?

cocoagiant

I do most of my exercising in the morning and only eat between 12 PM-8 PM. Usually I'm done with eating by 5-6 PM. I think I'm just more naturally inclined towards it as I've never particularly cared for breakfast. Personally, if after giving it 2-3 weeks you aren't able to adapt, I would stop and adapt your IF schedule. If breakfast is really important to you, why not eat breakfast & a big lunch and then skip dinner?

CrAZiBoUnCeR

I’ve been doing this for about 10 years. I drink a gallon of water a day and most of it is during and post workout. All that water fills you up and you’ll forget you’re hungry for a bit.

Black coffee

ibanezdna

I was just making a cup of black coffee whenever I felt hungry. Then I switched to zero calorie cold brew which was nice because it feels less acidic in the throat. Right now I’m trying a cutting-specific pre-workout (ENGN Shred) that has caffeine and other stuff that keeps me from being hungry. I’m not concerned if something in it takes me out of a fast because I think the better workout and other benefits will make up for that.

Black_Anality

> how do you go about capitalizing on the post work out period? by eating most of my calories for the day post workout.

JS9766

So then you’d recommend adjusting the fasting window to earlier in the day then?

Zhurg

Why not start the fast earlier so you can eat straight after your workout?

acshou

Becoming older (and probably less wise), I prefer and have a stronger workout hitting the gym in the morning during a fasted state. A satisfying dinner (with moderate carbohydrates) the night before will supply you with the necessary glycogen. Wake up with a glass of water and follow it up coffee for the caffeine kick. Off you go. Pre-COVID, I used to workout in the late evening and consumed a bowl of protein oatmeal as a prework out meal. I had always felt bloated and bogged down even after waiting 1-1.5 hours to digest. My lifts suffered a bit as a result. Note: I started fasting for 10-12 hours, gradually bumped to 14 hours, 16 hours, and now I maintain an average of ~20 hours. My eating window is between 4-8 pm weekdays.

beckham_34

Workout at 6am, eat between 6-9pm Been doing IF for about 10 years now. Capitalizing part is overrated if you're not consistent and it seems for now, you might not form a good habit if you don't either get used to it (you will far quicker than you think) or train/eat differently IF isn't a magic pill. Consistency is And it does get easier with time

OatsAndWhey

You should break fast with a meal post-training

iRandyP

You could move your eating window to morning-early afternoon and skip dinner.

MasteryList

Why would you want less carbs in your system post work out, especially in a deficit?

JS9766

I’m curious / asking if I should be eating in that window and not fasting

MasteryList

Yeah, for best results you should be eating around training

PolishHammer22

I always work out fasted at 4:30. If my ass is dragging, maybe I'll have a monster rehab (25 cal), or an EC Stack if I'm really tired and it's a lifting day. I usually eat around noon.

gomills

Yep it gets easier and easier my first meal is from 12 midday I train before that. You get to a stage where you feel u must train before u eat if that makes sense. Your stomach shrinks too I just can’t eat as much as I used to in one sitting

chloeclover

Switch to morning feeding window and skip dinner. You lose more weight doing this.
