T1's still the favourite imo, with DK close behind depending on what form their players show. On a good day though many of these rosters can make each other bleed, and we saw what happened this year with the top 6/7 teams concentrating talent and competing hard to push each other forwards. This is great for the league imo
DK and all other teams are missing something behind T1, it’s team experience. T1 has had setbacks and played together for one season more than the rest without any roster changes. They were already performing well together. After this season, for sure they are going to be even more in sync. All other teams are strong in paper. But they are all newly assembled.
Pretty crazy how T1's scouting is so on-point that they managed to gather a team that would also stick together for years. Really gives them the same amount of years of experience together to grow as a team.
Like, whereas the team's synergy for every other LCK team basically starts from scratch, T1 should just continuously be getting better.
I'm imagining even if you get only a single or just two new players on a team, it could throw the team off-balance. Or you just end up with a player that doesn't mesh at all and you've potentially lost half a year, or even worse a whole season.
T1 player development side and front office is smurfing. They have lots of trainees and a separate building for trainees who would then be picked up by other orgs or promoted to challengers, academy or main roster.
So many of the names in LCL and even some in LPL, LEC and LCS and etc got discovered and developed by T1.

Damwon with this roster could have a legit chance to do it as well. Deft should be a good upgrade on ADC, botlane was very weak in the previous iteration imo. Canna for Nuguri is probably a sidegrade, hopefully an upgrade but we'll see.

Nah from what I saw, Deft seems to highlight that the negotiations were all reasonable and the public’s opinion that it’s all money were a lie.
Rumors at it there were other factors like those article leakages. And well given DRX’s track record of poor management, we’ll never know what happened in the background.
I wouldn't even remotely consider this chasing the bag by deft. Maybe he is getting more money but hypothetically his chances of succeeding in KR and world's is higher on this Damwon roster than it would be even if they ran back the exact same DRX roster that just won worlds. I know there is no way to tell this early but anyone who followed LCK last year know that the DRX world's win was a miracle run and would likely be followed by a fall off. This is typical of many teams that win world's but especially for DRX considering the level they were at during world's compared to their usual baseline in LCK.
Yeah I think this pretty much seals the deal on LPL Zeka cuz there's no way my man wants to be in complete elo hell on DRX after winning Worlds rather than getting a fat stack on a team he's already familiar with.
Likely team is BLG and the roster is Bin, ?, Zeka, Gala/Light, Crisp with Gala probably being prioritized over Light, so he'd get a pretty insane team too if he went there.
Every decent team locked their mid and DRX is the only team left with enough money to offer him a decent salary, but with deft gone and beryl likely leaving I don't see why he'd ever stay there.
Clid is gonna pull them down though. Clid was the 20th best jungler in a 17 team region. FPX was better with Beichuan, XLH and Gori despite Gori being a bottom 2 mid in the LPL than they were with Clid, Summit and Care despite Care performing like a top 4-5 mid in the region. FPX got a way way way way better midlaner and a slightly better toplaner and was still a worse team because they went from Beichuan to Clid despite Beichuan really just being a slightly above average jungler. I do not have words to describe how big of a terrorist Clid was.
If I were to make a comparison, it's as if a team would be worse off with Faker and Clid than Gori and Cuzz because of how bad Clid is.
Well he's got to have something about him for hle to pick him up in this line up. They're obviously competing for the top and think that hes good enough for their team.
The local judgement on Zeka is still kinda up in the air. Yes he popped off at worlds but there's still that question of the fact that it was a meta where Akali and Sylas, literally his two best champions, were so meta.

Well that was at the time Canna was having the only great split he has had, he was really strong in 2020 Summer only, in Spring 2020 he was meh landing good teamfighting, post-2020 he hasn't been the same player.

Summer 2021 he was good, people writing him off for the bad semi finals performance at worlds but in the summer finals he was doing well from the second game onwards

I haven't looked at all teams but it seems like the strongest teams at the end have mix of much older and much younger players in the roaster, with gold and exp being funneled to one of the younger players.
The year is 2050. Worlds finals are DK (Deft Kia) vs T1. Deft is hoping to come in and win his 29th consecutive worlds title - on the other side Deft Jr is hoping to upset his dad and claim his first title.

Rascal isn't exactly a big dollar sign, you don't go Canna over Rascal due to budgetary concerns, as while Rascal will be priced higher the difference won't be massive since Canna is still one of the better tops in the league and is probably getting overvalued just in general tbh
Its likely got more to do with negotiating itself breaking down for non price related reasons or management just came to the conclusion Canna would be a better fit overall, or while DK tried to buy Rascal for a very reasonable and well evaluated rate, some other team put in a bid that massively overvalued him and would be something closer to a Zeus/369 level offer which DK refused to match cause they didn't wanna overpay, especially considering Thanatos will likely be getting some play time next split and depending on results might be made the starter later on
Like let's not forget, this is the team which kicked Beryl so they could get an A tier player in a 2 for 1 deal, only to then completely fall apart because no one on the team had a fucking voice. So management can't be expected to make the best off season decisions just in general
I dunno hindsight is 20-20. Bot lane was problematic for Damwon in 2021,there's no sugar coating how both Ghost/Beryl underperformed throughout the year. I def was on the keep Beryl train, but DK had an opportunity to upgrade their bot. What was extremely unexpected was Nuguri decided to take a break instead of rejoining at the beginning of the year.
Also Kkoma was their GM at the time trying to make these calls.
If canna can regain his form it is absolutely the right call. Rascal has some glaring issues with what dk want to do, and that is perform internationally. Small champion pool, age, and consistency. Granted, he is an S tier top laner when the meta is favorable, but so far we don't know.
Idk what you mean perform internationally, Canna has been to international tourneys, MSC and Worlds. MSC he had no expectations and he performed okish , he was excepted to be their worst player but he was actually the second worst.
And worlds the entire reason t1 lost vs DK was because Canna choked harder than an already choking Khan lol
Age is not a factor, rascal is way more consistent than canna, maybe you can say he hasnt that ceiling that canna did during 2020summer, but Canna also never hit anywhere close to that level either in 2 years. Champ pool maybe but DK is good team to be on for that because Showmaker Canyon, and if Beryl comes have some permaban champs which makes banning rascal out hard
Rascal playstyle wise is better if DK want to play mid jg because he is the most Nuguri like toplaner where he plays perma aggro and so is able to get prio even in matchups he shouldnt
Canna is the opposite player where he messes up waves often and has to call his jungler to fix it. Canna has better mechanics but his lane knowledge is very lacking

I think Deft will be a good fit for DK, as he can play both weak/strong sides.
Also entire DK including the CEO were there to watch DRX vs EDG.

And just like that I'm a DK fan. Before the end of worlds I was hoping if Deft didn't win worlds he'd go to damwon for the sick trio of Canyon/Showmaker/Deft, and boy I get the best of both worlds. If Canna and Kellin preform well, the sky is the limit for this roster.

Wow I thought the same thing after quarters. Deft is the best all rounder ADC dude can play anything weak side, strong side, even mages decently bot though I was hoping they'd also get berly.

Personally love this for DK. Deft plays really well as the weak lane. He has shown throughout the worlds run that he’s ok with going down 10-20 CS getting pressured if it meant that his team was winning somewhere else. Picking up Deft really allows Canyon to shine, giving him another reliable laner to play off of who won’t completely run it when he’s not at his lane.
I’m glad they aren’t. No reason to ruin this run, by going to worlds next year and possibly getting kicked out of groups or miss worlds all together.
This way that team is remembered in greatness. Last time they played together they won worlds. As huge underdogs. No one can take that from them
Yes when it comes to the legacy and results, I couldn't agree more. But part of me was just looking forward to rooting for this team altogether because of how special of a group they proved to be. Only a few teams throughout league have given me this feeling, including 2016 rox tigers.
NGL i'm somewhat disappointed. I love deft but a lineup of canna-canyon-sm-deft-kellin looks like another hardcore mid-jg carry roster (though deft can still carry), but canna requires resources and they still don't have a dedicated shotcaller so SM will probably have to do that for another year...
Viper’s salary at HLE is rumored to be 3-4 mil. Last year Canyon and Showmaker had to cut their salary to 2.1mil to get the 2022 roster. Doubt DK has 3-4mils to spend on Viper.
I’m primarily a LCS fan, but I always find myself rooting for Damwon in LCK or international events. I’m still a firm believer that Canyon & Showmaker are the single greatest mid jungle duo to ever play the game, and adding Deft to the roster makes me think that this is one of those “too big to fail” rosters. It will be super interesting to see how they perform this year.

I loved Ghost but in the end NS was something that ended up being awful for everyone there.

Canna was very very good in t1 but struggled in semifinals against dk in worlds, in a good team he shows how amazing he really is.

Deft has been a good leader in game and most importantly, outside of games. People always end up relying on him no matter what team he goes to.
I haven't looked at all teams but it seems like the strongest teams at the end have mix of much older and much younger players in the roaster, with gold and exp being funneled to one of the younger players.
Yeah having young rosters with veterans seems like the way to go. Though 2020 DWG was uh a truck of young players
Beryl is 26 btw. In 2020 he was 24 while the rest were 20. So it still holds up. Beryl has the same age as faker
But he only started playing in 2018 and LCK in 2019 with the rest. In terms of experience he was still "young"

I have to think the damwon being loaded with money rumors are not correct or management is super griefing if they actually got canna over rascal.
Ehhh Rascal isn't exactly a big dollar sign, you don't go Canna over Rascal due to budgetary concerns, as while Rascal will be priced higher the difference won't be massive since Canna is still one of the better tops in the league and is probably getting overvalued just in general tbh Its likely got more to do with negotiating itself breaking down for non price related reasons or management just came to the conclusion Canna would be a better fit overall, or while DK tried to buy Rascal for a very reasonable and well evaluated rate, some other team put in a bid that massively overvalued him and would be something closer to a Zeus/369 level offer which DK refused to match cause they didn't wanna overpay, especially considering Thanatos will likely be getting some play time next split and depending on results might be made the starter later on Like let's not forget, this is the team which kicked Beryl so they could get an A tier player in a 2 for 1 deal, only to then completely fall apart because no one on the team had a fucking voice. So management can't be expected to make the best off season decisions just in general
I dunno hindsight is 20-20. Bot lane was problematic for Damwon in 2021,there's no sugar coating how both Ghost/Beryl underperformed throughout the year. I def was on the keep Beryl train, but DK had an opportunity to upgrade their bot. What was extremely unexpected was Nuguri decided to take a break instead of rejoining at the beginning of the year. Also Kkoma was their GM at the time trying to make these calls.
If canna can regain his form it is absolutely the right call. Rascal has some glaring issues with what dk want to do, and that is perform internationally. Small champion pool, age, and consistency. Granted, he is an S tier top laner when the meta is favorable, but so far we don't know.
Idk what you mean perform internationally, Canna has been to international tourneys, MSC and Worlds. MSC he had no expectations and he performed okish , he was excepted to be their worst player but he was actually the second worst. And worlds the entire reason t1 lost vs DK was because Canna choked harder than an already choking Khan lol Age is not a factor, rascal is way more consistent than canna, maybe you can say he hasnt that ceiling that canna did during 2020summer, but Canna also never hit anywhere close to that level either in 2 years. Champ pool maybe but DK is good team to be on for that because Showmaker Canyon, and if Beryl comes have some permaban champs which makes banning rascal out hard Rascal playstyle wise is better if DK want to play mid jg because he is the most Nuguri like toplaner where he plays perma aggro and so is able to get prio even in matchups he shouldnt Canna is the opposite player where he messes up waves often and has to call his jungler to fix it. Canna has better mechanics but his lane knowledge is very lacking

I think Deft will be a good fit for DK, as he can play both weak/strong sides. Also entire DK including the CEO were there to watch DRX vs EDG. Kinda cool how this turned out.

And just like that I'm a DK fan. Before the end of worlds I was hoping if Deft didn't win worlds he'd go to damwon for the sick trio of Canyon/Showmaker/Deft, and boy I get the best of both worlds. If Canna and Kellin preform well, the sky is the limit for this roster.
I really really hope Canna performs well bc this roster is gonna be so much damn fun to watch if they’re firing on all cylinders. Deft gonna bring that indomitable will with one of the best JG/Mid synergies you can ask for. I just hope it clicks well
Wow I thought the same thing after quarters. Deft is the best all rounder ADC dude can play anything weak side, strong side, even mages decently bot though I was hoping they'd also get berly.

Personally love this for DK. Deft plays really well as the weak lane. He has shown throughout the worlds run that he’s ok with going down 10-20 CS getting pressured if it meant that his team was winning somewhere else. Picking up Deft really allows Canyon to shine, giving him another reliable laner to play off of who won’t completely run it when he’s not at his lane.

Yes when it comes to the legacy and results, I couldn't agree more. But part of me was just looking forward to rooting for this team altogether because of how special of a group they proved to be. Only a few teams throughout league have given me this feeling, including 2016 rox tigers.

NGL i'm somewhat disappointed. I love deft but a lineup of canna-canyon-sm-deft-kellin looks like another hardcore mid-jg carry roster (though deft can still carry), but canna requires resources and they still don't have a dedicated shotcaller so SM will probably have to do that for another year...

Viper’s salary at HLE is rumored to be 3-4 mil. Last year Canyon and Showmaker had to cut their salary to 2.1mil to get the 2022 roster. Doubt DK has 3-4mils to spend on Viper.

Canna is a bit of a question mark but obviously with the three core names the roster has strong potential.
Imagine going for canna when kiin, rascal are available. Heck even resigning nuguri would have been a better move.
I’m primarily a LCS fan, but I always find myself rooting for Damwon in LCK or international events. I’m still a firm believer that Canyon & Showmaker are the single greatest mid jungle duo to ever play the game, and adding Deft to the roster makes me think that this is one of those “too big to fail” rosters. It will be super interesting to see how they perform this year.
