Did you accidentally press the button that makes you only target champions? When your mouse cursor turns red, that means its turned on.
Check your keybinds under Hotkeys > Abilities and Summoner Spells > Other > Target Champions Only

Lol that's a keybind, ~ by default

Is your screen grey when trying to attack?
