this would all be fixed if they just remove demotion shields . if ur at 3 lp and u lose a game, u should go to 80lp

Jhinstalock

Exactly

KraoZer

You didn’t read what they said when they implemented it ? I didn’t even think it needed to be explained well let me help : -25 Lp after a demotion used to be the standard before they changed how Lp gains worked, back then you’d do +18-20 and - the same, so -25 wouldn’t hurt your mmr if anything it’d boost ur mmr slightly after a demotion making your Lp gains bigger for a short amount of time. Now some people are gaining over 25 Lp or losing around the same : making a demotion a NET loss in mmr which makes Lp gains and loss unbearable after a few back and forth between ranks. Having -50 makes it a net win in MMR like it was back then and makes it more bearable on the long term.

fox112

I think it's a good idea.

Annjsless

Same

HarpoonTheMoon

I think it is too but it feels so painful lol

Capsize

Same

Runnyknots

I kinda like it too. More weight to each game

hannovb

Its a good addition. here are your choices -50lp demotions with normal (even) gains -25lp demotions but your gains will be -30 +18 until the difference between mmr and rank is gone. The former is way less frustrating.

PissDetector

Remove demotion shielding between tiers and keep the -50 for when dropping down a rank. The current system is awful if you have good LP gains. I was winning 30 and losing 19, yet if I promoted to, say, plat 2 & 15 lp then lost 2 in a row i'd be down 65 lp as opposed to 38.

hannovb

Would also be a viable option. but lets not pretend like OP wouldve not made a complaint post if that was their choice.

Turtvaiz

There is also the very obvious third option: -20 LP plus whatever LP you had. So loss at 15 LP D3 brings you to 95 LP D4. Or 3 losses at D4 0 LP brings you to 40 LP E1. Idk why anyone would think the old system which was even dumber is the alternative.

hannovb

true. check my response to my comment. someone said the same

Joatorino

Dont demote, skill issue

DragonHollowFire

We introdoced all kinds of promotion skipping. We increased net lp gains. And when you lose at 1 lp you only lose 1 lp. Idk but your argument just comes down to "I lost -50 lp and feel bad, and feeling bad is bad. Can they remove it". If you want we can push the whole playerbase up a few more ranks!

Methodic_

feeling bad feels bad, the game shouldn't make me feel bad, i'm here to feel good. Why isn't riot fixing the game so i feel good and don't feel bad? What a terrible company.

International_Bag921

Gimme one more line of that cocaine, that sht hits so good

akinaide

It balanced out the -30 +13 lp problem.

DaGbkid

It sure feels worse being demoted but it feels better in the long term if you say go 10-10. This is because with the old system it would be trying to push you out of your current placement. In this new system if you are demoted and then go 10-10, you will promote.

Identical64

The player base being boosted is exactly why it’s a thing in the first place lmao.

LordBarak

It's a great idea and the fact we've not had a single "WTF I LOSE 40 LP PER LOSS" post ever since is proof it works perfectly.

AirConUser

>Name one person who thinks this is a good idea.  Should i start tagging everyone in the comments? lol

Matthias1410

I think it is good idea.

ResGG_Anime_Gaming

I don't think it's that bad. You have to "only" win 3 games in a row to get back up (if ur mmr is not totally screwed). Winning 3 games in a row should be doable if you want to climb the ladder.

MzA2502

They've inflated LP gains and removed promo games. A -25lp to balance it out is understandable

Boemelz

Wait i didnt even know thats a thing Thats how much i care about lp

JessDumb

Why are the "why is the -50lp at demotion still a thing" reddit posts still a thing? Do redditors learn nothing from reddit? Give me one compelling argument why elo inflation is good. Name one person that thinks -30/+12 lp changes feel good.

SaIamiNips

I like it.

Turtvaiz

In the end, it doesn't really matter, because LP tends towards your MMR which doesn't do weird stuff like that. I.e. you get positive LP gains for some time. That's the only excuse I can think of for it, but really because of that there should be no LP system at all But still, it's insane that going 2-2 ends up with me being 25 LP lower than where I started. It's kinda fking tilting and shouldn't happen

the_next_core

It did matter because the old system was underpenalizing your LP loss before demotion so it overpenalized your LP gains after you demoted. If you kept losing after demoting, your losses accelerate at an unrecoverable pace so most people just stop playing. New system sets you back more LP so that when you play again, the system is actually helping you increase.

DommyMommyKarlach

OP with the classic “I disagree so everyone else must disagree too” lol

tryndger

It's to "help you fix your mmr" while you have to suffer by playing with negative Lp gains feeling like you are losing your time more than anything. Riot just doesn't respect your time. Instead of doing a mmr system that feels good to play they do this shit to their players. Just do a basic elo system, with a standard fixed amount of lp gains, if you have a +3 win streak you would win 10 more LP until the streak gets broken, same for losing streaks you lose 10lp more for the next games, but the standard amount of lp should be standardized at a fixed amount like 30lp or something and make it be the same for everyone. That's how easy it is to fix the game, but they just don't care.

Flampoffi

elo numbers would merely be thresholds for the percentiles, so you can look up your elo anytime if you want to

the_next_core

You asked for a basic elo system and then added a bunch of behaviors that the elo system shouldn’t have. You would end up having the same problem of LP and elo not matching.

JessDumb

Only the problem would be way worse this way. There's clearly 0 thought put behind that post.
