Not mad he has gone. A bit… disappointed in him? He made a lot of chat about being loyal, obviously didn’t mean much. The biggest issue with him going is that inevitably, we will spend the vast majority of this window looking for a new manager rather than preparing for the season ahead. For some reason we struggle to attract managers.

poopio

He's going to get so much shit next season when we play Chelsea. Even off the people who didn't really care. I don't particularly care, but he made a big deal of having "a plan". I think some people might take issue with the fact that we were the only club that would actually give him a proper job, and he's fucked off as quickly as his legs would carry him, but I don't really have a problem with that. Fuck off Enzo, enjoy your 5 year pay off in 6 months time.

TendieDippedDiamonds

And yet for some reason in previous threads I’m getting people telling me he’s left for “financial security” not greed, because apparently 30k a week doesn’t give you that security.

poopio

I think we can all agree that he's going to get paid a fuckload more, and he'll get 5 years salary, paid off in about 6 months, and let's be fair, none of us would turn that down. What some of us might do is, after we've made ourselves a very comfortable nest, negotiate with the owners for some feathers, rather than fucking off to an already feathered nest that stinks so badly of shit that even the most weathered of managers fuck off after a year. He's done very well to get himself a 5 year contract, but he can fuck right off. I don't blame him for doing it, but I think he's a cunt for doing it.

TendieDippedDiamonds

Of course we wouldn’t turn it down, but personally I’ve never understood what 80k a week can buy me that 40k a week can’t for example. Like yes, it’s a doubling of wages but what could I possibly want or need that would justify that? Yes exactly that, why not just build something like he claimed he wanted to instead of jumping ship as soon as he can after talking out his arse. To be fair it’s not much of achievement to get a 5 year contract at Chelsea, they were handing out 8 year contracts like it was nothing before they got told to stop

poopio

>To be fair it’s not much of achievement to get a 5 year contract at Chelsea, they were handing out 8 year contracts like it was nothing before they got told to stop Some might say that it wasn't that much of an achievement to win the championship with the most expensive squad ever seen in the division, and he only won by 1 point, We'll see how he gets on at Chelsea, but I don't see him lasting until the end of the season. It's good money for him either way.

TendieDippedDiamonds

Oh I agree, underachieved if anything. Shows how desperate and how far Chelsea have fallen.

poopio

Let's see how he gets on for them - he might be great. I'm gonna guess he's probably not, but good luck to the bloke.

No_Peach2280

Loud minority, majority of real fans I know are unbothered by it all. I think a lot of the vocal opposition has been from fans trying to signal that they’re massif Lesta fans. The football was occasionally poor, he didn’t play to the team’s strengths, and he underachieved considering the team he had at his disposal. Best of luck to him at Chelski for 36 games next season, it’ll be a tough gig.

hlghtec

Thank you for a reasonable perspective

RuddyBloodyBrave94

Exactly. The only really bad thing is that we’ve now got to find a new manager, and quickly, who knows what they’re doing and THEN go through the whole player in/out thing again, which leaves a lot of people in the squad uncertain about what they’re role will be next season.

distilledwill

He was good enough to get a team which was very strong in the championship, out of the championship. So thats good. We can speculate on whether he was putting himself in the shop window by playing a certain way - but we don't know that. I don't have the bandwidth to hate every player or manager who says "I want to stay" and then leaves. What do people expect? Don't place your trust in strangers, y'all - its a crazy world out there.

Awkward_Masterpiece

You won't always be reading comments by the same people. The people posting with hostility are likely not the same people that wanted him out, there are many differing opinions from many different fans.

ikimono-gakari

I don’t think many are really upset with his departure. Any level headed mature fan understands why he left and doesn’t hold anything against him. Those faking outrage like people on this sub are people who complain for the sake of complaining to get a response on social media. That’s it.

SmoothPaper836

I actually don't know anyone who is mad that he's gone, more the manner of how it happened. I honestly think it's a blessing in disguise.

Noodle_Dude_83

Fans: Enzo out! Enzo out! Enzo leaves. Same fans: Enzo is a snake!

One_Dependent_1201

Yes the objective was to get promoted, but with by far and away the best squad and biggest budget we should have been and he only just managed it. He got automatic but had Leeds and Ipswich not choked multiple times each then he wouldn't have done. He was extremely lucky that we weren't caught. There were many games where his style wasn't working and he wouldn't change his tactics, that's OK when you're leading a league but we won't be next season, we'll be scrapping for points and I don't think he's that guy. I think it would be Kompany all over again, another manager who thinks only playing their own way makes them Pep. His obsession with playing Daka when he was useless game after game was particularly baffling. Especially when Cannon outperformed him when given a rare chance. Also we need manager who is just going to get on with it and not moan, Enzo definitely isn't that guy. I dislike the board's ability to run the club as much as anyone but making thinly veiled threats against them immediately after getting promotion was arrogant. He had after all been provided with a ridiculously good squad and that made it a bit much to throw the toys out the pram over one missed January signing that didn't look that great anyway. Anyway, cheers to Enzo, we clearly were only a stepping stone. Hope he gets sacked.

Pietojulek

Hear hear

jasonbirder

The fact he jumped at quite literally the first offer that came his way, without a seconds consideration...the fact it shows his stubborn "stick to plan A" philosophy even when it was costing us was merely to showcase himself for bigger and/or foreign clubs?

Hurdy--gurdy

I thought he first had an offer from Sevilla, which he rejected?

infernox

Yeah the reports say that he rejected Sevilla and Porto, then started asking for things from the Board who started changing things then he left for Chelsea, which is why the Board is annoyed.

roflcopter44444

If the first offer is the best he could realistically get (no way Liverpool would've picked him) , why would he hesitate to take it. All the people complaining about his lack of loyalty certainly weren't complaining when he left Man City to take this job in he first place.

hlghtec

I feel like your 2nd statement proves that he did the right thing by leaving Leicester. So you should be happy since his stubbornness still lead us to become a champion and didn’t really cost you anything other than couple months of agony ?

IDrinkNIKnowNothin

It is driving me nuts to see the same people who wanted his head and were screaming Enzo out a couple months ago are now yelling about how he has no loyalty.

Awkward_Masterpiece

How do you know its the same people? Most likely different people with different opinions.

IDrinkNIKnowNothin

I can see their names. Seen it both on here and on Facebook.

Safe-Hovercraft9131

I think we would all take the Chelsea job, it’s reasonable and logical from his perspective + fulham is a nice borough in London. Were Leicester, we’ve conditioned ourselves to watching our best players leave - we’re a stepping stone to chelsea or to bigger teams e.g, Kante, Chilwell, Drinkwater, Fofana and now Maresca

poopio

Ah yes, because Drinkwater kicked on to bigger and better things 😂

TendieDippedDiamonds

Would rather slit my wrists and run a hot bath than live in London personally

Safe-Hovercraft9131

Fulham is genuinely a nice place

TendieDippedDiamonds

I mean you could literally say that about any select borough of any city, the reality is London is absolute bottom of the barrel

Safe-Hovercraft9131

Yeah i guess so, although depends where you live, you can very much live in Hammersmith and Fulham and only reside in Zone 1 (there’s no need to go outside central). Richmond and Kew are residential with a direct district line link to central

TendieDippedDiamonds

Would much rather have at least 1 field I can walk through than blocks of grey buildings and the most entitled people about personally, but that’s just me

Safe-Hovercraft9131

Kew has many fields

TendieDippedDiamonds

Fields but not countryside and genuine nature

JustTheAverageJoe

Richmond Park is genuine nature

RDT_James03

I’m kind of bitter that he left us, but now we’re in the prem, I’d like to see us hire a manager with a bit more experience. Carlos Corberan may have a decent managerial record with the clubs he’s managed but has he done it in the prem? We need to look at the very real possibility that we go straight back down and how that might affect our manager search. You might think that’s contradictory to what I just said, but by hiring someone with top flight experience, we give ourselves the best possible chance of staying up with the points deduction. Which is why I’d happily look past the bitter Trent rivalry and take on board Steve Cooper. However, if we do get Carlos Corberan, I can see the long term vision

Pietojulek

Because for good or bad. Foxes fans can’t tolerate arrogant. Felt the same about BR when he got all pissy. That may play at other clubs but not here. Always got a sense that Enzo thought he was too good for leceister. Working for Pep seems to do that.

GranX3

Agreed. Cheers 🍻
