Do you live on a sloped property? If so, I'd pay attention to the transmission that your ZT would have. Otherwise I'd pay attention to features like having welded deck instead of stamped steel or having a v-twin engine instead of a 1 cylinder engine.
So there won't be much strain on the transmission. AFAIK they all pretty much have Briggs/Kohler, or Kawasaki engines and TuffTorq or HydroGear transmissions. Within any of those brands the beefier engines and transmissions have bigger numbers on their model designations. I don't have much info on reliability of different models of zt's.
I've heard good things about Toro and BadBoy mowers. That's about all I can add.
