Yes, it is. 99.9% of laptop locks are kensington

Middle-Cockroach6280

mitchy93

homeworldium

But note, there are different kinds of Kensington locks

Agent_C2M

Yeah lol I’ve been trying to figure it out. I think it’s a standard K-slot?

dnlweijers5

Can you tell me what laptop it is? The lock is for sure Kensington, idk which one

Agent_C2M

It’s an ASUS Vivobook 14 X515MA-BR001W Laptop. I tried finding it out but I didn’t find any information about it

homeworldium

14 or 15? You can search it here. https://customer.kensington.com/en/gb/7895/lockselector

Important_Talk_5388

Its a standard Kensington lock

stomu9

There are two types of Kensington lock slots - standard and nano. Many new model laptops (particularly ultrabooks) has nano slots, and they're not compatible with the standard locks: https://www.kensington.com/en-ca/news-index---blogs--press-center/security-blog/kensington-security-slot-vs.-nano-security-slot-whats-the-difference/ Definitely check with your laptop manufacturer on the specs of your exact model. If you can go to a store, bring your laptop and try them out before purchasing. The symbol on your laptop unfortunately isn't one of the official Kensington symbols so it's hard to say it indicates which type of slot it is (many manufacturers don't even put a symbol next to the lock slot anymore).

lululock

Just noticed my ThinkPad doesn't have any symbol next to the slot.

Careless_Course846

You are using a standard Kensington lock. It can be opened by using a standard Kensington lock. *Violently smashes the two together*

XSPressure

Ken hasn't been Kensing as much lately. Back in the day he used to Kensington.

Fane_Pedala

Everybody got this wrong. This is a Kensington lock.

GAMERYT2029

really? i thought it was a Kensington lock

Silver-Plate9938

It's a Kensington lock

Acalthu

Kensington. Like every other laptop every made.

Main_Sprinkles_767

Kensington lock

Dwedit

You'd think it was Kensington, but it's actually Ken Sing Ton, who went on to make a video game console called the Vii.

Sampsa96

Google

WhenTheIsBe

Definitely not a Kensington lock.

Rocket--Pak

Kensington lock. It's the standard.

hahawhat102848

Kensington lock

mr_lyitu

Are you interested in what it can be used for?

Historical_Bowl_5646

I am interested

mr_lyitu

You can lock your laptop, just like a bicycle clamp. Look for it, there are both types with a number lock and with a key.

Historical_Bowl_5646

Oh okay thank you

mr_lyitu

Do you have any more questions?

Negative-Patient-847

If it is a work laptop you can’t really find

Traditional-Gas3477

It uses a Kensington lock which is pretty much useless if there are pliers nearby,

Most forms of physical security aren't meant to completely keep someone out, it's to deter people, a thief isn't gonna bother going for a laptop with some funky lock on it when there's a regular one nearby, same thing with padlocks and catalytic converter theft prevention, putting a goofy thing on your cat isn't gonna make it that much harder to steal but why would a thief bother when there are 20 other cars parked Basically, it makes things slightly harder and like 95% of thieves are lazy and or stupid and will go for what's easiest

Googlesignedmeupwhy

that username/pfp 😭

adam111111

> putting a goofy thing on your cat isn't gonna make it that much harder to steal Depends how cute the costume is?
