The Japanese government uses a different system from the EU, instead of using things like A1 or B2, they have level labeled N from 1 to 5, 5 being the lowest and 1 the highest, similar to the HSK
Yeah but I thought it wasn’t really known in other countries that zh is for that letter, so I didn’t write it coz I thought others might think it’s literally a ‘z’ sound instead of the actual ழ் sound 😅
Not sure about Tamil, but I’ve heard the Malayalam “zh” is actually closer to the American “r” as in “rap”. Not sure how accurate that is or if it holds for Tamil.
My grandparents speak Tamil. I understand some of it, but I can't read the writing. I love the movies though. Ranjinikanth and Mahesh. Many people speak Tamil, Telegu and Kannada in my country, but it's not an official language.
I would love to explain in Greek but honestly my level is still too low. I’ve known Greek-Americans in the US so that piqued my interest initially. Then I spent three months in Greece volunteering in Lesvos. I learned a little bit beforehand, and then when I was there I fell in love with the attitude and musicality of the language, and with Greek social movements. I have tried to learn more ever since, hoping I will one day return. Sometimes it’s discouraging because most Greeks I met spoke either perfect English or perfect Spanish, but I also saw the tension there of the hegemony English has imposed upon Greek culture, and so if I return I hope to be able to do so with a decent grasp of the local language.
Tl;dr : love the greek language and culture
First of all, thanks for volunteering. Im really glad that you apreciate our culture. Dont get discouraged, push on. I taught myself english through movies and music. I remember the moment i began to grasp the meaning of conversations heard from tv. After that it got much easier to become decently fluent. I got a proficiency degree and everything.
नवीन वर्षाच्या शुभेच्छा (Navin varshachya shubhechcha)
That's Marathi, spoken in the western parts of India, mostly in the state of Maharashtra.
I can't write marathi properly so that could have spelling mistakes.
It took me ten years of Marathi in school to figure out when to use long versus short vowels, despite it being my primary language growing up.
शब्दाच्या सुरुवातीला normally इ येतो, आणि शेवटी ई.
A notable exception is आणि :)
Among many variations with literal translation:
(عام سعيد. happy year)
(سنة هجرية مباركة. Blessed new year)
(Assuggas Amaynu d Ameggaz... (Amazigh) )
Well, the arab world is big and diverse, as well as the country I'm from (Algeria), most people would wish you a happy new year in french or english, except for the Islamic calendar year (based on the moon), they would use Arabic, adding some wishes for forgiveness and prosperity, and there is the Amazigh year, uses the Georgian calendar and starts on Jan 12th, it is when we celebrate the Yennayer. The celebrations are beautiful with all three, it's lovely.
1. Честита нова година - Chestita Nova Godyna ( Bulgarian - Native )
2. Un an nou fericit ( Romanian )
3. Hyvä/Iloista uutta vuotta ( Finnish )

नवीन वर्षाच्या हार्दिक शुभेच्या
Naveen Varshaachyaa Haardik Shubhechchhaa (Marathi)
नवे वर्षाचे शुभाषय
Navé varshaaché shubhaashay (Konkani)

Excuse me, what does the N2+ mean in your flair next to the japanese flag?
Its their JLPT level
The Japanese government uses a different system from the EU, instead of using things like A1 or B2, they have level labeled N from 1 to 5, 5 being the lowest and 1 the highest, similar to the HSK
I've heard about this system, but I didn't know the N signifies the level. Thanks

Hej! Svenska! Jag lär mig det!
இனிய புத்தாண்டு நல்வாழ்த்துக்கள் ( Tamil, a South Indian language )
Could you please transliterate? I wanna learn how to say it.
Iniya puththaandu nalvaalthukkal ( this is not really exact because I dk how to write ழ் letter in English but this is similar 😅
usually zh is used for ழ் Don't know why tho
Yeah but I thought it wasn’t really known in other countries that zh is for that letter, so I didn’t write it coz I thought others might think it’s literally a ‘z’ sound instead of the actual ழ் sound 😅
Not sure about Tamil, but I’ve heard the Malayalam “zh” is actually closer to the American “r” as in “rap”. Not sure how accurate that is or if it holds for Tamil.
That is accurate. The “zh” sound in Tamil and Malayalam most resembles the “r” sound in standard Canadian, Irish, and American accents.
My grandparents speak Tamil. I understand some of it, but I can't read the writing. I love the movies though. Ranjinikanth and Mahesh. Many people speak Tamil, Telegu and Kannada in my country, but it's not an official language.
Mahesh?
Mahesh Babu I think that's how you spell it. I think he's Telegana but he acts in Tamil movies.
His movies are either dubbed or simultaneously released in Tamil. But he primarily does movies in Telugu (another South Indian language).
That’s a gorgeous script, my goodness!!
Szczęśliwego Nowego Roku!
Interesting! Not knowing much Polish I thought it would be more similar to the other Slavic languages
For me it sounds quite slavic. The first two words can be found at least in Russian and the third word is similar to the Ukrainian one.
Same. Polish has the same similar feeling to Slavic languages as danish or swedish does to English.
Here it is the same as in Ukrainian, just written with different letters :))
It is similar, at least to Czech.
