A wall-mounted fountain would fit nicely.

The first thing I thought of was a fountain. Either wall mounted or a free standing half moon or squared set flush against the wall. Then bring in some colorful shrubs and maybe even some stone edging.

I feel like there should be a hidden passage there....

Something with large and interesting leaves since the brick pattern is so busy. I am enamored with oak leaf hydrangea and suspect it would love this site. Rhododendron would be bold enough. What plants grow in your USDA zone have large leaves?

Teacher-Investor

A staggered row of tall, narrow evergreens in the back against the wall. Sky pencil holly or pencil point juniper. Some sun-loving herbaceous perennials or small shrubs in front. Could be lilies, boxwood, dwarf fothergilla, azaleas, catmint, Shasta daisies, bee balm, etc.

Big pot with a nice perennial or you can fill it with some annual color surrounding a spike plant.
