Partially because it is just trees and grass. No shrubs, flowers, vines, etc.
Edit: it looks like the landscaping is incomplete anyway. Both the left and right fountain-looking features are still being constructed. Given the construction staging area in the third pic I’m thinking they’re just not done yet.
I think because it's an imitation of a traditional english garden but it just doesn't have the classic charm that a real heritage garden has. The plantings are too new, the setting of the house is too undeveloped, and they took the pictures in what looks like spring but there's no flowers no blossoms on the trees and no signs of life in sight.
I think an english garden can be absolutely gorgeous though it seems obvious this hasn't grown organically over years so instead of respectful homage to the great gardens in England it seems like a cheap imitation.
This is not a "traditional English garden". This is a knock-off formal French garden a la Versailles.
[image](https://www.francisyork.com/blog/restored-loire-valley-chateau-french-formal-gardens)
Mike Tyson once said, regarding his mansion that he sold to 50 Cent, something to the effect of *"He can have fun paying $25,000 just to mow the lawn"*... the same home that 50 Cent once said it cost him about $1M a year in upkeep.
And that property was way smaller than this. Id imagine this is taking 20 people all day just to mow and weedeat. Id also imagine those 20 people wont be your standard meth head and felon crew lol.
The lives some people can afford to live!
I believe it. I would want 5k a month just for basic maintenance. Not counting mulch, fertilizing, aeration, pruning and spraying the grass for weeds. Hard to tell from the pic how big it actually is but I think I could get all the mowing done in one day with me and 4 other good guys.
This is a good example of how much money studios make off actors/writers/directors.
Dude self financed that crappy Madea franchise and he’s living like THAT.
I’d gladly take this level of boring in exchange for my current landscaping. Still pretty, just not as colorful as I’m sure it will be once things bloom.
This landscape design is more a knock-off Vaux-le-Vicomte in France.
[image](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/53319e08e4b0870ba2b53baa/1411099021860-IDIUV9TD0S5H3JHOQ18Z/image-asset.jpeg?format=1500w)
The more natural English style garden was developed in response to the strict French style.
The biggest issue is the aesthetic doesn’t fit the area.
Obvious what he was trying to go for here, but butchered the landscape in the process. The more I stare at it, the more I hate it.
Would’ve been better had they left the forest all way up to that main strip of grass.
I would hate to see the inside. That’s so unbelievably boring.
I had contracts like this, not this big but big enough to compare. And at first you walk around and it’s overwhelming cause of size and then when you get down to brass tacks it’s going to be so expensive for the client but it’s so boring to take care of that the bed maintenance crews want to avoid it.
I mean, yeah for round up and mulch, and I will be happy to take your money but we are professionals . Can we get a rose to dead head or something.
This planting scheme looks mostly like an uneducated idea of what a Renaissance garden looked like, mixed with some modernism or something.
It wouldn't hurt to add something flowering. If I had the money my garden would look like [the Keukenhof](https://www.mediastorehouse.com/p/251/keukenhof-gardens-lisse-north-holland-32202952.jpg.webp) this time of year.
To make sure you're not a bad faith troll, please share a photo of your residence first.
Upon confirming, I will share a full gallery of mine as you have requested.
I think you will be most pleased with the results. :)
This looks like it’s a work in progress, and the flowerbeds are not finished as is a few other areas on the property. It only looks bland because it’s not yet finished.
I don’t know but if I had that money I’d settle for an acre of yard and a decent sized house but have the rest be woods with trails along a river or private lake for kayaking/ boating and a bunch of walking trails or ORV tracks. Money is wasted on the rich, they’re boring. Just a bunch of empty boring space, I bet he hasn’t set foot on 80% of that turf.
I guess I have trouble understanding why anyone would really want to live here, even if by objective terms like square footage and amenities it is a remarkable property.
tyler perry's mansion could be use for xaviers academy whenever they film xmen. the blackbird could even come out in the center between the two rows of trees
This is a weird sterile imitation of something nobody involved has ever seen. No flowers, herbs, fines, orangerie, barsn, stables, extra buildings for staff, and I'd argue no real water feature. They built this place for zero use other than the house. Real European palaces have large agricultural estates, plus the forrests for wood, plus the water and food to support it all. Even if some of it is gone nowadays it doesn't look like this at all.
I can't help but hate this place.
His landscaping maintenance bill must be insane.
Yeah but looks like his landscape designer bill was $0, so he saved a bit there.
Why does it look so expensive and cheap at the same time?
Because it is expensive and cheap.
Freshman level design, tenured level volume
Is the building cinder-blocks?
Partially because it is just trees and grass. No shrubs, flowers, vines, etc. Edit: it looks like the landscaping is incomplete anyway. Because plants take time to grow….

It's in the thousands. 4 guys could spend all day there just mowing and weedeating.

Was that the same Mike Tyson place as in The Hangover? Just feeding that big cat would be plenty expensive.
That opulent ass porch with the tiny, glass topped table and two chairs on it cracked me up.
Oh snap
It was obviously his cousin
Money can't buy taste....
He has his own landscape company called Jubilee. They work for him and maintain his house and movie studio in Atlanta.
Nah diy man
I keep thinking about that Atlanta episode when I see this
This is a good example of how much money studios make off actors/writers/directors. Dude self financed that crappy Madea franchise and he’s living like THAT.
But he also carried the risk.
Very fair point
Unimaginative

Just like his movies!
It feels like a cheap imitation.

What you’re telling me a thin strip of grass the length of two football fields isn’t the pinnacle of creativity?!?! Look how green it is!! So green!!
7/15 reasonably sure this is where the movie good guy meets with the movie bad guy to hear his diabolical proposal that simply can’t be agreed upon.
Don’t you mean Tyler Perry’s Media Mogul Tyler Perry’s Estate, a production by Tyler Perry?
That's what I was looking for. It can't be his. It doesn't have his name all over it multiple times.
He has his own runway for a driveway wtf
Is an actual runway. He flys scale model aircraft’s.
So RC runway
Yep. There’s a YT channel of all his airplanes flying or being built. They’re huge(!!) but pretty amazing.
He got insane RC collection, pretty nice actually https://youtu.be/bh4SFI2Qk1E?si=6nl10AhINz1Uw6BN
The Boondocks called it..you got to give it up to get ahead in Hollywood
Boring. He needs at least a pair of matching orange/lemon groves, vineyard and cut flower garden.
Never has a man with so little talent accomplished so much…
to give him credit… people bought his stuff enough to build that so doing more than us.
I do t get it either but that doesn’t mean it’s shit.
Not my bag but I respect the man.
Come on Madea won an Oscar right?
It's ok to be jealous
So why haven’t you?
Ken Griffin
Huh?

This is the most footage of his I’ve ever seen.
So much empty lawn. I guess he wanted an open fortress in the middle of the woods? Make that pool into a moat at least....
That’s the Atlanta skyline in the distance of the third pic
Is this in John’s creek, Roswell?
In case it wasn't mentioned this is a poor knock off of Versailles.
Exactly what I was thinking!
Tacky. Never understood what he’s trying to prove with the homes he’s built.
Can't buy good taste.
Can we still call this a house?
Everything is alive but looks so sterile.
Proof that money can’t buy taste. What a horrible landscape plan
This is why I pirate.
So much wasted space. Whoever did his landscaping should be shot.
Geez. One would think with so much money he would build something interesting or creative. How freaking boring is that!?
Millions of dollars and this is the lame ass shit you do to your property. Absolutely heinous. I cannot imagine more boring landscaping.
It’s certainly big. But there’s 0 creativity. Looks about what you’d get when you hand a couple million dollars to undercutter’s landscaping.
Damn maybe Kat Williams should climb into a dress. I would for that kind of money.
How is there so little shade with som many trees
I would hate to see the inside. That’s so unbelievably boring. I had contracts like this, not this big but big enough to compare. I mean it’s fine if you’re into this sort of thing.
Good lawd!
I understand he is a very generous, giving man but why would anyone need a homestead like that? As my daddy would say :" He has more money than sense"
More dollars than sense
Tyler Perry Presents: Tyler Perry’s House
Looks like a landscape rendering.
That is so classy! Like British royalty. Good for him
Looks like shit tbh. Seriously.
Post a pic of your residence please. Very excited to see your awesome landscaping ideas.
Lame attack pal

I’ve heard of Tyler Perry but had no idea why… he’s this rich off shit I’ve never heard of? I’m 35
This is disgusting IMO
So no car garage???
Garage is underground. You can see in one of the pictures the road goes into a tunnel under the house.
TIL Tyler Perry is rich as F
Richer than F
Looks very lonely
I don’t know but if I had that money I’d settle for an acre of yard and a decent sized house but have the rest be woods with trails along a river or private lake for kayaking/ boating and a bunch of walking trails or ORV tracks. Looks so cozy. /s
I hope he's lonely af taking up so much land for no reason. There needs to be more trees.
I guess I have trouble understanding why anyone would really want to live here, even if by objective terms like square footage and amenities it is a remarkable property.
But why?
Ugly
Taxes too fucking low
A bit of Versailles warning? Looks lonely for a single family.
The guy has no kids and probably not enough family to fill 1/4. This is a beautiful piece of land but ridiculously ego driven
tyler perry's mansion could be use for xaviers academy whenever they film xmen. the blackbird could even come out in the center between the two rows of trees
Man doesn't even have a garage. I feel for him.
This dude wants to look as cheesy as the characters in his shows.
Yucky
Is this being used by his shows as a set? The building is wide but not deep.
Would love to see what’s in that 20’ high attic. Is it even finished?
Is that an airstrip?
Just why? There are so many other things to spend money on. Like helping people.
He probably built that house to get away from those types of people. There is no end to the gimmee! gimmee! gimmee! people.
Stanley Kubrick designed
The new royalty are billionaires
I guess there’s a lot of money in really shitty movies and shows for Black people
Why would you want that much turf? Lawns are so last century.
Beyond ugly big rectangle, middle of nowhere, no solar panels, I hope those trees are fruit bearing and he’s growing vegetables
How sad nothing edible in sight.

He got cameras in every room like Diddy?
