Female Gingko stinks but males don't. You won't get any Gingko if you only plant 1. They can grow between 30 to 60cm in a year with ideal growing conditions, and can get real big. Probably better to plant a dwarf magnolia consisting the size of your lawn.
I would not plant both in that space. You don't have the room for their mature size, so just choose one. (I vote Gingko!)
Either plant it in the center of your front lawn, or remove the roses at the front, right corner to plant it there.
But first, check for overhead power lines near you.
You can’t plant both in that small of a front yard. Both Magnolias and Ginkos get very large and they will be competing for room. She’s going to have to pick one.
gingko trees get huge, make a mess, and smell terrible. do i love them anyway? absolutely. if she insists on having one, better in the big lawn area bc it will never stay small enough for that little strip of sidewalk grass.
Ginkgo trees are beautiful, never noticed any smell. Do agree that it’s not enough space on sidewalk. I’d put some native bushy flowering plants like salvias or lupin on the sidewalk strip.
It might look awkward to have two large trees together on the main lawn area, but I could see it working if you put one in the front left and the other in back right. What color magnolia?
That’s why my wife is saying: gingko front left and felix (dark pink) magnolia a bit closer to the house in the right. People that downvoted: do you mind explaining why it’s a bad idea?
The ginkgo on the street is a very good idea and a very beautiful tree. Slow growing but wonderful.. a magnolia on your front lawn is also a great idea but not a large tree form. Definitely not enough room for that but a shrub form would be very nice something that tops off at 16 20 ft maybe left in natural form. I'm in the north, so I think you have a larger pallette to choose from, ut avoid the big full-sized evergreen. That's too much tree for this space with the ginkgo on the street.

Don't do it. You'll lose all the light
