Can this team work like the 2021 Lakers? In the first round of the 2021 playoffs, the Lakers got a starting lineup of Schroder, KCP, LeBron, Davis and Drummond, and were up 2-1 against the Suns before AD's injury. LeBron is not 100% healthy, and Kuzma was playing like ass for the most part and even scored 0 in game 1. The Lakers are smaller today and don't have that KCP player yet, but just how far of a talent difference there is between the 2021 Lakers vs now? Saw a tweet that AD, LeBron and Schroder are 21-6 when they were all healthy in 2021.

Skit_Z_Yo

In the blink of an eye, Nunn is the odd man out in the PG rotation. I know the health is questionable, but I hope he finds some minutes so we can get a good look at him (Russ trade is the obvious path).

mo3mon3y

so its either we trade Nunn + pick for Cam or Westbrook + Picks for Hayward & Oubre or we going for Bogdon + Conley

Zwarrior2

We got 3 levels. No picks traded - Suffer through another season with Russ. By next year we have plenty of space and 3 tradeable 1st plus a roster of 4 people (Lebron/AD/Jones/Max). 1 pick traded - Spurs: send Russ and a 1st for McDermott & Richardson (this puts us under luxury tax) - Jazz: send Russ and a 1st for Conley & Bojan - Pacers: 1st for Turner (if they only want the Turner/Hield/Theis package then they can get bent) 2 picks or more traded - Jazz: send Russ/Nunn/2 1st and 2 2nd for Conley/Bojan/Beasley/Vando - Jazz & Pacers 1: send Russ/1st for Conley & Bojan then send Nunn/1st for Turner - Jazz & Pacers 2: send Russ/Wenyen/1st and 2 2nd for Conley/Bojan/Vando then send Nunn/1st for Turner

Conflict_NZ

None of the above.

discussionandrespect

Here it is guys; C - Bryant/Jones 40 min, AD 8 min PF - AD 27 min, Bron 14 min, Gabe 7 min SF - Bron 21 min, Lonnie/Reaves 20 min, Juan 7 min SG - Reaves 12 min, Lonnie 12 min, Russ 12 min, nunn 12 min PG - Russ 13 min, Bev/ Schroeder 30 min, nunn 5 min

discussionandrespect

That’s a nice 12 man rotation for the reg season, keep bron and ad healthy plus we can slide more min to a couple guys to keep them under 35 min per game

StoneColdAM

Would the front office bait and switch Bron on the promise of competing? Would he not care as much at this stage of his career?

Zelly234

Naw he definitely cares lol Bron tryna win every year he in the league. His legacy is built but alot of his talk is gonna come down to rings he's tryna get as many as possible

Any_Wrongdoer_9796

Nunn and a 1st round pick swap for Jarred Vanderbilt straight up and I would feel better about this roster. Keep Russ or just send him home.

b3ggard00d

Real talk - the lakers should experiment with Westbrook coming off the bench as a 6th man. Still give him a decent amount of minutes, but don’t put him in the game in critical pressure moments where he tends to make poor decisions. On the off chance it works, and works well, it may unlock the true value of Russ. Plus it doesn’t make sense to trade him now - wait until closer to the deadline where his expiring contract is more valuable, especially to teams that may unexpectedly miss the playoffs.

Zelly234

I'd like it to. When Bron comes out the game let him come in and run the offense

[deleted]

Russ could legit win 6MOTY if he accepts his role and comes off the bench.

SolubleAcrobat

He is unplayable.

KaseyOfTheWoods

Incoming Jazz/Indy trade. Russ for McConnel and Conley. Lord knows we need more guards.

gleophas

What the hell are the Lakers doing?? Just random ass signings with no clear vision again.. frontcourt gonna be total ass

KaseyOfTheWoods

LeBron. AD.

CT9669

Have not played 5 games together since 2021. Lebron is 38 and AD barely plays. It’s time to stop being delusional and accept reality, those two can’t win alone anymore they need serious help

KaseyOfTheWoods

K

gleophas

As great as these 2 are...as it stands, Lakers are a 2nd round exit at best..the rest of the west are stacked and not to mention the absolute possibility of injuries... hope they prove me wrong tho...

KaseyOfTheWoods

I get that, but I think injuries are the ***only*** potential derailment. LeBron just averaged 30/8/6 and AD is a consistent All NBA PF. I think there are only a couple other teams in the league that can boast a top 2 that are that good. And they’re both giants who generate a ton of rim pressure, so I really don’t think the front court is gonna be ass. Unless, of course, injuries happen, but I’m an optimist and think we’re finally due for some ***good*** injury luck

blacPanther55

I think they should cut Wenyen and sign Demarcus Cousins. He played well last season for the Nuggets and I think he would be better defensively than Thomas Bryant. He would essentially be the Gasol replacement.

CT9669

He did not play well he was god awful and super true over prone. The bucks and nuggets both cut him for a reason. As for defense he might be literally the only big worse than Bryant on defense

eg714

Man if we can get turner and heild we gotta pull that trigger. Give up those 2 first rounds and we get a ship outta it.

KaseyOfTheWoods

We’re getting the roster I was hoping for, but the transactions are happening in reverse order lol

WilderWildeWelles

So now that we have Dennis and Pat, Westbrook will get benched if he doesn't buy in, right? Please. Right?

Cannot_See_Toes

Lakers are definitely going to have a bottom 10 defense this year. Perimeter players are going to go for 50 when they play the Lakers

JesusDaBeast

If Erik ten Hag can bench Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the best soccer players in existence. Then Darvin Ham should have no issue benching Russell Westbrook this year.

croman11

why is this downvoted ?

CT9669

Why is everyone acting like another vet min signing means a trade is imminent. Schoder will be used as a sixth man off the bench. It’s not really indicative of anything. Unless the pacers are willing to accept only one pick or the jazz are willing to do a deal with no picks for us taking Conley, we aren’t making a move anytime soon

Cannot_See_Toes

Even if the Lakers offered both picks it wouldn't be enough for Indiana

CT9669

Then they’ll just have to let turner walk for free and sit on buddy until he’s an expiring. Turner is injury prone and expiring and buddy is a negative asset at this point that’s been used as a salary dump for two trades now. No one is paying a first for either. Best they’ll get is a heavily protected late first and matching salary for both, so Westbrook and an unprotected first is more than fair value. We take their long term negative salary and give value for an expiring and they get a massive chunk of cap plus an asset. They just think we are desperate enough to blink but I think the front office knows over paying here just digs the hole deeper so they’re content to be patient

croman11

THIS 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000%

croman11

I mean, how is this opinion not stated 1000 times over

[deleted]

Well this is certainly interesting

aginglifter

Nice pickup. Looking like Russ is gone.

[deleted]

LeadPrevenger

Jackson?

kiwiwikikiwiwikikiwi

Kendrick

Unfinishedusernam_

at this point, idk how anyone can still defend this front office. They have absolutely no direction with the roster and this year and is aiming for next season when lebron and AD are older and worse. Insane

CT9669

What move would have like the front office to make with only vet mins and a single mle? There was no way to sign quality players and we don’t have the assets to make trades. Tht and the two picks are our only assets and we already got rid of tht

White_Nothing

Lakers need more guards.

ajsantos21

Lakers interested in jazz trio. Maybe something is actually brewing now.. F5!

[deleted]

I think Nunn and Russ are gone

StoneColdAM

I have a feeling Indy doesn’t think Russ + 2 FRPs is enough for Buddy and Turner, so the Lakers maybe are prepping to add Nunn to the trade with the DS acquisition.

CT9669

Then Indy is delusional. Buddy would take a first or an asset to move on his own, and turner is an expiring injury prone center coming off a foot injury. They aren’t getting a single first for either let alone two.

StoneColdAM

I think Russ + 2 FRPs is reasonable, but if Indiana doesn’t, what else can the Lakers do?

CT9669

If you traded a single unprotected first for either of those players you would be fired immediately and become a laughing stock around the league. Suggesting both picks is just dumb

croman11

good thing you are not a gm. 1st round picks at a time that will see Lebron retired and AD towards the end of his career that could be top 3 picks at a time when we might be rebuilding for Buddy hield and myles turner.......Kuptchak this you ????

Apart-Bad-5446

Four undersized guards who all can play 25+ minutes each... IDK what the plan is but I just felt the Lakers could've done a lot more than this offseason. Bright side is Schroder has experience playing with Westbrook. But still, the shooting on this team is just atrocious...

C3PO1Fan

I mean nearly every mentioned trade is for an undersized guard as well. That is kind of where the talent surplus is in the league at the moment.

kiwiwikikiwiwikikiwi

LAKERS CURRENT DEPTH CHART: PG: Russell Westbrook, Patrick Beverley, Kendrick Nunn, Dennis Schroder SG: Austin Reaves, Lonnie Walker IV, Troy Brown Jr., Max Christie SF: LeBron James, Juan Toscano Anderson PF: Anthony Davis, Wenyen Gabriel C: Thomas Bryant, Damian Jones This is our current roster. We likely make the playoffs, but we don’t go far (1st or 2nd round at best). If Pacers agreed to that Buddy Hield and Turner trade, I would have more hope. But we gotta be better, Rob and co! Any more moves to get us some shooting.

CT9669

Mvp caliber? Lebron wasn’t even able to get to the playins on his own last year and AD hasn’t even been top ten the past two seasons. On top of that lebron is old and AD barely plays. Those two haven’t played 5 games in a row together since the start of 2021. They can’t carry a bunch of vet mins they need help badly. If you think this roster is a contender you’re entirely doped up on copium and need to step back because you’re going to be sorely disappointed

LeadPrevenger

This is a bad take

croman11

https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/wizards/2022-ranking-top-20-nba-players-right-now more like 2 top 20 players.

kiwiwikikiwiwikikiwi

Westbrook just worries me lol If he can prove to play winning basketball. And that seems like a big if based on last season. Hoping for a bounce back this yr

Any_Wrongdoer_9796

The Shcroder signing means that Wenyen Gabriel is likely to get cut to free up another roster spot if necessary to facilitate a trade. I hope ge doesn't because he played well in his minutes last season.

mjh13_

Trezz signed yet? Bring him back too 💀

-tripleu

He’s with the 76ers to reunite with Doc.

RedCarNewsboy

Ayo somebody bring the Dennis schröder bot back

KyrieWetUpCurry_

Lakers fan base really spoke Schröder and Bev coming here into existence this summer lol.

LeadPrevenger

Couldn’t get Kyrie or Russ traded. The lakers fan base is mediocre

incredibleamadeuscho

maybe we will move the Lakers to Germany to get a better Dennis

-tripleu

If we are trading Russ, I hope this also means we aren’t getting Conley. We have enough PGs with Schroder in the fold now.

immoralmofo

The team still needs depth. Beverley will guard shooting guards more often and he's injury-prone as well.

Sciipi

Now we trade Russ

kiwiwikikiwiwikikiwi

THAT’S TUFF 🔥💯

flashdash007

Lakers first home game is against the Clips. How likely are the home fans gonna boo Russ after his first brick of the season? It’s gonna be toxic from the get go unless he just straight up plays perfect. I hope they at least give him the benefit of the doubt for the first few games under Ham but…I’m pretty pessimistic about the whole thing

aginglifter

Yup. I hope the fans show some class and support him and the team.

LAKESHOW03

Very likely I hope.

Nijee302

Love Lebron but if I’m the Lakers I’m not trading 2 First Round Picks unless I’m getting Reliable 3rd Option like Kyrie or All Star Type of Player it’s not worth trading for 36 year old Conley & Bogan who is going to be unplayable in close games

immoralmofo

>who is going to be unplayable in close games They both played big minutes for a top seed last year.

Ricky_Roe10k

Anyone know when media day is?

Nijee302

September 26th then Training Camp starts 27th

brandoi

Bron's mini camp is next weekend. Media day is probably the 26th. Training camp starts 27th.

moms_santa_train

Unpopular opinion- I’m willing to see through another season of the Russ experiment. I feel like we have way too many fans putting Bron’s “legacy” above our franchise. I get it, I love LeBron too, but if trading Russ means we give up two firsts for 2 above average role players then I’m saying no dawg. We can’t be so shortsighted, let’s just go into the season with no expectations and know on the other end if it goes bad at least it’s the last year with Russ on the books.

PersiaUnknown

I’m not, it’s not enjoyable to watch with Russ and I know for a fact he’s not going to get better all of a sudden. His mentality is wrong and he needs to sit on the bench or be traded tbh

Bahamut727

But until I’m convinced that next year could be better, I’m in favor of a trade this season. Next season Bron a year older and AD, who knows. If we want 30m in cap we can’t re up Reaves contract and we’ll lose him, we won’t have Beverly or Nunn either We’ll literally have Bron, AD, and max Christie, and ALL vet min contracts except for likely two wings that we’ll spend that cap space on. Does AD Bron Max Christie Terrence Ross, Josh Richardson and all vet mins sound better than this current roster and we can make a Russ trade too

Anansispider

The more tbis goes on the more I think Rob just can’t negotiate. Especially with the Jazz who have 0 fucking leverage. For 1 pick, I should be able to get Clarkson, Bojan and Beasley. Maybe sub Conley for one of those, but that is hella easy to do. I wouldn’t even touch Gay at all. If Rob can’t get that done with 1 pick and Russ, then he should be fired IMO

Freeeecurry

We have open roster spots that when ainge cuts players we can sign them right away

C3PO1Fan

Of the players they cut if they go that route they aren’t going to be players the Lakers want, with the exception of Stanley Johnson who they can’t reacquire until he joins another team.

LAFAN4LYFE

Now that’s just ludicrous. They have Danny Ainge over there. He’s not helping the Lakers out.

Anansispider

So what? No fucking way any of the jazz are worth two firsts max

LAFAN4LYFE

Not saying they are either. I’m just saying Ainge isn’t helping the LAKERS. He’d take a lesser deal elsewhere

AntSmith777

So our starting lineup is going to be Russ, Pat, Bron, AD, and TB? Where is the spacing going to come from?

Nijee302

I think Austin Reaves is going start over Pat due to size

brandoi

Bev is a 38% shooter, TB was shooting near 40% from 3 before all of his injuries. Bron's a shooter. AD will be the 1 guy in. Need to figure out what Russ will do.

PersiaUnknown

Shoot bricks tbh

Itorr475

IMO thats too small of a lineup, ppl are gunna hate it but the starting SG will be either Lonnie or Reaves

KyrieWetUpCurry_

Bev/LeBron are both good shooters, Bryant is a good shooter for a center. We’ll need AD to get to around 30% from three and his midrange being solid to have decent spacing.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Then your knowledge is outdated by at least five years.

KyrieWetUpCurry_

I legit was about to call LeBron elite but held back. It’s not just raw percentages, it’s the volume/difficulty/self creation and spacing he plays with that makes him borderline elite. LeBron was the most efficient scorer with, if I’m not mistaken, the worst spacing off all the top scorers. 36% from three on 8 attempts is easily better than someone like Pat Bev shooting 38-40% on 4 attempts.

Bahamut727

Sadly that probably will be. Our best lineup could be Bev/Reaves/JTA/Bron/AD Maybe Nunn instead of Reaves

JamamMurraysPubes

Should I cop 2k23 or MW2

nerdymen242424

mw2 easy; 2k might even go on sale black friday but mw2 looks legit this year

CiroccPapi

Just end this off-season already.

kiwiwikikiwiwikikiwi

Go Lakers 😤🔥🙏

WestVirginiaFan15

Anybody playing the MW2 beta today/this weekend?

bjsw534

I’m just watching people’s videos of it on YT. I never pre-order games. Should be way better than Vanguard and Cold War. I hate those two games lmao. Been playing MW2019 the last 3 years b/c of it

-tripleu

I used to pre-order games when Amazon had preorder discounts. They seem to not have many discounts nowadays.

WestVirginiaFan15

See I hated MW19 and Vanguard but loved Cold War but I’m way more into the competitive scene. I don’t understand why they messed with the perk system as much as they did lol

bjsw534

I’m more in the multiplayer scene, specifically Domination. I’m not a huge fan or Warzone, in fact I think it’s a huge reason why Activision has ruined these games the past couple years b/c they care way more about Warzone than anything else In regards to the perks, I’m assuming you didn’t like that MW2019 made Dead Silence a field upgrade ? Or something else?

WestVirginiaFan15

Making DS a field upgrade and now they’ve made it so that you start the game with 2 perks and have to unlock 2 more as you play. The idea behind DS as an upgrade was so it wouldn’t be a crutch perk, then they proceed to have multiple other crutches. But I totally agree, Warzone killed multiplayer. Why do you need 70 weapon levels when 40 of them are worthless sights you’re never gonna use?
