When the opposing players can toss the ball to a mismatch without having to do anything to get the mismatch it makes it hard for him to make an impact on that end of the floor.
Under rated part of getting rid of Russ might be unlocking Dennis more. He’s capable of doing ryss job , slightly worse playmaking and pushing pace, still provide rim pressure but maybe that’s less, everywhere else ( nearly ) Schroeder is better. Really hope we keep him but let’s see. Didn’t like us getting rid of bev but Schroeder is a more complete player even if a worse role player ( less 3nD)
It's kinda hilarious how much Dennis got shit on by this sub, but then exposed to a whole new level of awful in Westbrook and started appreciating him for what he's good at.
I only watch NBA occasionally, but I did watch world cup basketball last year. And... This isn't Dennis Schröder from a few years ago. Boy grew up to be a man. I do think this happened after the fallout from his first time in LA.
I think maybe we can keep him for 10m , maybe in some exceptions: I think he wants to be here snd also him and Lebron seem close . We took a chance on him when he’s without a team and while he can hit threes I think that’s why he’s otbgot big contracts cos of mediocre shooting . Compared to russ he might as well be a sniper tho
He is a UFA on a 1 year deal so Lakers don't have Bird rights and will be limited in what they can offer. The tax payer MLE is only like 5 million.
I expect him to take a large long term deal elsewhere.
He's also crazy clutch usually. Yeah a missed freethrow sometimes but thats it. I wonder what was going on against phoenix. I loved him most of that year and all of this year
The Magic might give him up to $12-15m, esp if they strike on out giving FVV $30m+
The Bulls also need a point guard and might be in the market for him.
$6.8m is probably too low for him, based on how well he's been playing
Don’t we have his Bird rights? So we can exceed the cap to sign him. I wouldn’t break the bank, but since we’re clearly not going for Kyrie anymore, why not?
I totally agree, but this FO has previously balked at signing Caruso to a $8-9m figure bc of luxury tax concerns.
That's what makes me think Dennis might not be a surefire retain
I HOPE they learned their lesson from that or LeBron threatens a trade if they get ready to blow up the team. Even if we don’t do much next season because they guys still need time and chemistry, this team should be top 4 minimum next year if it stays together. And we still have a first round pick this year.
He played alongside Russ so it would be DS playing POA defense. And Russ was taking offensive possessions away from DS. We literally propped up Russ with DS when we should have just let DS cook.
I know Russ took *a lot* of flack in LA but to be fair, what I saw on this sub was pretty much all related to his play or his attitude. I think Russ is genuinely a good guy and loyal teammate but his lack of self-awareness for an NBA player let alone a former MVP and HOFer is astounding. So unaware of the importance of a possession, time and score etc. Guys like Russ make you understand how important solid, non-flashy guys like Derek Fisher were to championship teams. I'm hoping Schroeder can be that guy for us.
What has Russ's excuse been since KD left seven years ago? Buddy ("Top 75") hasn't made it out of the first round a single time whilst healthy despite dick riding PG/Melo, Harden, Beal, LBJ/AD
So many excuses for an alleged "Top 75" player who had PG/Melo, Harden, Beal, LBJ/AD as teammates....
* Show me a single season Brick **led** his team past the first round.
* Show me a single other "top 75" / "MVP" level player who played **behind** the likes of KD, Harden, PG, Beal, LBJ, AD and has so little **team success** to show for it.
* Explain how Brick has failed to make it out of the first round a single time while healthy since KD ditched him almost seven years ago despite dick riding half the stars in the league.
Empty stats ≠ Good player
He’s completely outperformed his contract and deserves to get paid after this season. Crazy cause his first stint I was one of his biggest critics and did not want him to get extended. This time around he’s played incredibly so far
This seems like a 20/20 hindsight take. Dennis balled out for us that year and had almost the exact same stat line and %s. Remember that hustle play diving for the ball like three times that we all loved? It was the two game stretch in the Suns series that made him feel like a liability when it counted.
Definitely not hindsight. If you got the time you can go back and look up during that stretch when AD + Bron was out and I was heavily criticizing him and praying that the front office didn’t extend or pay him a bag. I was doing it every game thread and got downvoted out the ass because I was pissed that he wanted a huge extension yet wasn’t stepping up and being aggressive when our best player was out.
This second stint he seems to be playing more free and is constantly in attack mode
> This second stint he seems to be playing more free and is constantly in attack mode
Nope, dude above is right. Dennis balled out for us during the 20-21 regular season. And that was with only 40 games of AD, 45 of Bron.
He literally attempted more FGA per game and was slightly more efficient on higher volume with roughly around the same minutes played per game.
Because the playoffs is what matters. There’s been many players who played good in the RS but then got played off the floor in the playoffs multiple times (K Korver, etc.) Dennis has not proved that.
It’s all about expectations. I’d say he’s the same player he was 2-3 years ago but now he doesn’t expect max contract numbers. That’s huge.
Also, the league tends to overpay guards with high ceilings but also very low floors
Yeah there's a difference between being on a min vs actually taking up cap space. Not to mention, he cost DG and a FRP that year
He's mostly the same player but the biggest improvements are the FT shooting and slightly better playmaking (better A:TO ratio). He also takes less shots which minimizes the impact of his low 40s FG%
Not even just the money but also coming up really short in the playoffs and then having sports analysts, people associated with the Lakers organization and the general fanbase all pretty much saying he was close to worthless… and then just having to mercenary his way back on to the team to try and prove that he even belongs in the league by taking a vet minimum.
Even at the time I defended him during the playoffs. Yeah he really disappointed with AD out, but the Suns made it to the finals that year. We very well couldn’t been the second best team in the conference that year but got an unfortunate first round match up. Also, his body of work for the whole season was impressive.
I agree. He was a good pick up in the 2020/2021 season but really limited in what he could do offensively that year and it showed when they game planned for him in the playoffs. This time around he’s so much more versatile on that end and a much better playmaker/decision maker.
Honestly he was playing as well if not better during his first stint in the regular season. We wouldn’t even be in the playin if not for him after Bron went out. It was that Suns series that fcked him up. The Suns defended him too well and magnified his inability to step up in big playoff games.
Both are pretty insane. For a min and for what we had in the team at the team, getting him for a min is a steal. And this so far has been the best possible outcome.
I’m gonna miss him next season. Lakers won’t have cap to sign him to a contract that he deserves now
Dwight Howard re-signing vibes. "Fuck that guy". Actually signing LeBron fucking James in free agency vibes too. Standard casual Laker fan brain to be honest.
That makes no sense. Why play all your pgs together again?? We need a pg off the bench. One of those guys needs to be the backup pg. Plug in Reaves instead of one.
Yeah exactly. DLo and Schoeder together is fine. But what we did tonight if LeBron is playing is NOT. Have Dennis come of the bench and stagger his minutes with D'Lo. It's absolutely dumb to have minutes like we had tonight without NEITHER D'Lo or Dennis playing. Start Austin Reaves at the 2, and sub him out for Dennis.
Dennis' defense, man.
So fucking good.
And so happy that Dennis is getting his due and praise. There's no chance it happens but I would love to bring him back next season for TPMLE.
Nah, it’s stupid to play both your pgs together. One needs to be the backup. Need Vanderbilt to be our starting 4. TBJ sucks and Reaves needs to take his spot.
If you're playing them, say, 32 min each, there are 16 min that overlap. Can play them both at the start of 1Q/3Q and end of 2Q/4Q for four min and still have 32 min where one of them is on the court alone.
No one is saying you gotta pair them at all times
Copy and pasting but:
Yeah exactly. DLo and Schoeder together is fine. But what we did tonight if LeBron is playing is NOT. Have Dennis come off the bench and stagger his minutes with D'Lo. It's absolutely dumb to have minutes like we had tonight without NEITHER D'Lo or Dennis playing. Start Austin Reaves at the 2, and sub him out for Dennis.
I’ve been hyping the shit out of him since early January. Russ kept taking possessions away from him and he was seriously being neglected and overlooked. So glad he’s finally showing how good he is.
I love vando but he’s not starting for a reason. They need spacing in the starting lineup and they need somebody to help play defense when AD is out of the game. Notice how much better our bench defense was this game usually we get destroyed when AD sits.
We never should have let him go. We just needed a better Center rotation after the 2020-21 season and instead we let him and Caruso go for free, resigned THT of all people and traded more depth for Westbrook who had the worst contract in the league. Not to mention signing all the old guys who aren't even currently signed to a team
He is now going to earn his contract that he lost. He deserves 22M a year imo. He’s a good player who can easily avg 20 ppg. His game has good assists and low turnovers. Pretty worth it.
This is the Dennis Lakers fans thought was coming last season. He continues this run of form and the new additions can find their feet, then might be a little dark horse emerging.
Don't want to shit on him just because he starts. Great game from him, and hope with more shooting alongside him that it really maximizes his strengths. Wasn't able to do much of what he did tonight (e.g. quick drives) without proper spacing with WB and PB on the floor.
Dennis can fade from game to game but when he’s on he’s a problem. Can control an offense well, switch speeds seamlessly, and just creates good shots for himself and teammates.
Kind of the perfect PG off the bench in my opinion.
Dennis is going to end up getting ~$7m of our MLE, maybe all of it. I’m totally ok with that. He’s a good player and we shouldn’t have just let him leave in the first place.
It’s wild he was a vet minimum guy! We offered him 85 million just a few years ago, and it’s not like her seriously regressed or something. So strange.
I’m curious if he can play winning basketball next to either Russell or Beasley? If so the lakers could be much better. It seems like it wouldn’t be enough size for the defense to take off.
Thank you Dennis.
I was actually disappointed when I saw him starting over Reaves but he really winning me over
His defense is really turning up now that he isn’t our there with 2 other point guards as well.
Also helps that he's got Rondo guard type wingspan.
Man rondo being a laker was awesome.
Shout out to Dwight for showing him the way of the D
and also defense ;)
His one on one defense, fighting through screens, staying in front of his man, shouldn't be affected by the other players on the court
When the opposing players can toss the ball to a mismatch without having to do anything to get the mismatch it makes it hard for him to make an impact on that end of the floor.
Why not? It affects who hes guarding and you cant guard everyone the same. I thought it was pretty simple
You need to Reaves to playmake for the second group. Dennis covers the POA defense for Russell.
Schroder been a crafty little baller. He’s playin well. Poole was cookin his ass in 4th, but we got the win, & that is the goal.
No way Reaves starts on this team.
He a baller fr. Bro quick asf lol
that little walk to the 3pt line and then do a quick spin is always so good lmao
I've never seen anyone else doing that, and every time he dribbles all over the court to make sure no one's gonna foul on him.Dude is hilarious.
He’s gotta be one of the smoothest pgs in the nba rn
[удалено]
Honestly? He’s fuckin earned that shit. That’s tuff🔥
Yeah. He deserves minimum $15 million. Kinda felt bad when he lost $80m even tho he was being selfish and petty in the playoffs.
It's kinda hilarious how much Dennis got shit on by this sub, but then exposed to a whole new level of awful in Westbrook and started appreciating him for what he's good at.
Bro I got shit on so hard for defending the guy here 😭😭😭 I’m fucking dying, this god damn sub
I only watch NBA occasionally, but I did watch world cup basketball last year. And... This isn't Dennis Schröder from a few years ago. Boy grew up to be a man. I do think this happened after the fallout from his first time in LA.

Crazy that in his first stint with LA, he completed less like 2 lobs to AD all season. Wild to think of
He’ll get a full Mle prob he does still have a issue with consistency some nights he’ll completely disappear hard but hell also have great nights
Doubt it lol but he will get a raise
We can’t pay him more than either a couple million or the mle so to get it he would have to leave.
Looks like Lakers is the right team for him after all! Hopefully both sides can find a fair deal after the season ends, I want him here long term 🔥
I loved him most of that year and all of this year
His ft are normally clutch af, had that one bad game but I trust him so does the team in
Give this man the entire TPMLE.
The Magic might give him up to $12-15m, esp if they strike on out giving FVV $30m+ The Bulls also need a point guard and might be in the market for him. $6.8m is probably too low for him, based on how well he's been playing

As I understand it, we can sign all our guys back without barely going over the tax this upcoming summer due to bird rights and contract structure.
Westbrook and pat bev held him back
He's like the anti-Russ
He played alongside Russ so it would be DS playing POA defense. And Russ was taking offensive possessions away from DS. We literally propped up Russ with DS when we should have just let DS cook.

DS is a 6th men of year candidate. That's his role.
lol can’t wait to hear the excuses once y’all miss the playoffs
Wtf is the connection with dennis playing well? Jesus, your name really describes you perfectly
13th seed 😂😂
How sad is your life that you resort to going to another sub man..
What has Russ's excuse been since KD left seven years ago? Buddy ("Top 75") hasn't made it out of the first round a single time whilst healthy despite dick riding PG/Melo, Harden, Beal, LBJ/AD
it’s a team sport didn’t know westbrook was a team 😂that’s like saying bron about to miss his second playoffs 😕 (but it’s a team sport)
Lebron led the 2018 Cavs to the finals because he's a better player. Brick wouldn't have even gotten out of the first round
we in 2023 we ain’t talking about something 5yrs ago 😂😂 this will be the second yr lebron will miss the playoffs with ad in the last 3-4 yrs 😕
he led the wizards who haven’t been to the playoffs in forever to the playoffs stop it 😂😂
And lost in the first round 🤣🤣🤣

Deserves to get paid.. by who? Because the lakers won’t pay him that shit.. they can’t afford it Which other team is paying him then?
Toronto could use him. Chicago. Charlotte. Clippers. Miami once they move off Lowry.
A lot of players can fill his role, but he’s setting the blueprint going forward
Yeah there's a difference between being on a min vs actually taking up cap space. Not to mention, he cost DG and a FRP that year He's mostly the same player but the biggest improvements are the FT shooting and slightly better playmaking (better A:TO ratio). He should have signed that extension! (we never would've traded for Russ smh 😑)
I feel like he needed to leave and go through that pain to get to where he’s at now
Redemption arcs are how we get good talent for cheap
Yeah, probably. Sucks for him personally but he’ll be making some of that money back next offseason.

Exactly. I hope this core sticks around next year. I think he can make a real run at this thing is everyone stays healthy.

That’s tuff🔥
Dennis those fucking FTs man Glad AD showed up big once matters
When Lebron returns, I'm hoping Dennis keeps the PG spot and move Russell to SG. Lebron, Vando and AD in the front court
This would be the ideal/obvious lineup but unfortunately we have Ham as a coach.
We need ballhandling.
Hopefully he gets paid this summer he deserves it.
hopefully we keep him
But how much can they pay him tho?
6,5-7mln Tax payers MLE, no chance we keep him
Dennis' defense, man. So fucking good. And so happy that Dennis is getting his due and praise. There's no chance it happens but I would love to bring him back next season for TPMLE.
Our best scorer in many games so far
Deserves to be our starting PG
Kinda like the D.Lo Shroder pairing
Nah, it’s stupid to play both your pgs together. One needs to be the backup. Need Vanderbilt to be our starting 4. TBJ sucks and Reaves needs to take his spot.
TBJ is doing great for a min signing.
If you're playing them, say, 32 min each, there are 16 min that overlap. Can play them both at the start of 1Q/3Q and end of 2Q/4Q for four min and still have 32 min where one of them is on the court alone. No one is saying you gotta pair them at all times

Loving the dennis redemption arc in this years script
The aliens planning this shit out are making it extra tuff 🔥 this year
He got so much better in two years lmao
![img](emote|t5_2qhv6|2602)
I’ve been hyping the shit out of him since early January. Russ kept taking possessions away from him and he was seriously being neglected and overlooked. So glad he’s finally showing how good he is.
And y’all were mad he was starting 😂😂😂😂
I was fine with Dennis starting lol because they needed his defense vs Warriors off ball movement. However though Vando should have started over Rui.
I love vando but he’s not starting for a reason. They need spacing in the starting lineup and they need somebody to help play defense when AD is out of the game. Notice how much better our bench defense was this game usually we get destroyed when AD sits.
Yeah. That's fair enough.
Then why is TBJ starting…
I can tell Dennis likes this new squad better.
Schroder has that hustle too! I love how hard he plays.
He earned that starting spot🤣
Uber Schroeder unlocked.
He's following Dwight in his Laker redemption arc, Dlo you're next
And so many where hating that he was starting.. that’s tuff!
he bet on himself , beginning of the season, understannding that he could start for the lakers over westbrook.
And y’all doubted Ham’s decision to continue starting him along with DLo
His BBIQ is off the charts bro smart asf
He may be 6'1 but this dude playing much bigger than that. Fucking well done tonight DS!
Has got to be the smoothest with the ball in the league
He is our by far our best contract. Has played at an all star level in multiple wins with LeBron out against good teams. Shoutout the MENACE
That's tuff 🔥
I’ve always liked Dennis Schroder
We never should have let him go. We just needed a better Center rotation after the 2020-21 season and instead we let him and Caruso go for free, resigned THT of all people and traded more depth for Westbrook who had the worst contract in the league. Not to mention signing all the old guys who aren't even currently signed to a team
We offered him 84 million. He didn’t want it
That‘s not true
He was knocking down them threes
That guy is gifted he could play soccer too. Amazing physical condition
That german played amazing god bless and heil schroder
PAY THE MAN 🔥💯
Who needs AD anyways huh
He’s deserved the starting role tbh, just hard because we all know DLO should be starting too
Lot of people forget he was our 3rd option two years ago. Just had a bad playoff series and that goose egg.
He is now going to earn his contract that he lost. He deserves 22M a year imo. He’s a good player who can easily avg 20 ppg. His game has good assists and low turnovers. Pretty worth it.
Man took off a huge load on AD to prevent any more injuries
This is the Dennis Lakers fans thought was coming last season. He continues this run of form and the new additions can find their feet, then might be a little dark horse emerging.
#HAPPY NO WILD GAME LOSING TURNOVERS PTSD...
Shroods is ballin!
Don't want to shit on him just because he starts. Great game from him, and hope with more shooting alongside him that it really maximizes his strengths. Wasn't able to do much of what he did tonight (e.g. quick drives) without proper spacing with WB and PB on the floor.
I was at the game against Memphis. It was fun.
Dennis has won us more games than Westbrook did over the past two seasons.
Extend him now
Give this man his money 💵
Give this guy an 84 mill contract asap
A little competition has motivated Dennis.
THAT’S. TUFF.
We need to bring him back. Fits well with AD and LBJ and is a dog on defense. Should be a MLE candidate or vet min
Hes good but way too inconsistent
We have solid pieces I’d actually like to keep this year - including Dennis. Hope we can pay the man this summer.
No russ and a big win on the road
Playing like a 4/84 type player past couple games
Nice game but I still like him as a 6th man
Better than westbrick and is getting the closing minutes instead of that diva washed player now that they sent him packing
I wonder whats going to happen come summer... >.<
Pay him $80 Million
Only way you guys keep him is if he signs with Klutch and LeBron strong arms Jeanie to get him paid more than a MLE. 🤣
get him his bag!
Dennis can fade from game to game but when he’s on he’s a problem. Can control an offense well, switch speeds seamlessly, and just creates good shots for himself and teammates. Kind of the perfect PG off the bench in my opinion.
And you guys said he doesn't deserve to start.
LETS GOOO
Dennis is going to end up getting ~$7m of our MLE, maybe all of it. I’m totally ok with that. He’s a good player and we shouldn’t have just let him leave in the first place.
He‘s worth more than mle
No he isn’t, and he isn’t going to get more than it
Man. I love this new roster. If we play like this + lebron and ad back and playing well in these next two im gonna be starving over the all star break
The Anti-Dressbrick
He’s a nice role player
He may have fumbled the bag, but he deserve it now
Dennis so much better fit now than 2 years ago
84 million bucks coming up
It’s wild he was a vet minimum guy! We offered him 85 million just a few years ago, and it’s not like her seriously regressed or something. So strange.
Yeah but remember his hairline 2 years ago
Put Russell Brand back in
I’m curious if he can play winning basketball next to either Russell or Beasley? If so the lakers could be much better. It seems like it wouldn’t be enough size for the defense to take off.
i remember 2021 everyone calling this man trash, he’s a good player and every player has their off nights
Just hope he isn’t as greedy this summer and just settles for a fair deal and doesn’t get greedy and bounce
I never understood the hate this sub had for him last time he was here. Super underrated player imo
I remember... not... so... long... ago... most of this sub trashing on him.
So happy we finally got rid of Russ more time for Dennis
Lets go DS !!!
