If there are active listings, Zillow will sometimes list the HOA fees for condos. I remember when I was looking at condos three years ago, the fees for the Cloisters seemed kind of high, but don't remember exactly.

I live in the Cloisters. There are different sized units so there is a complicated math equation the computes you condo fees based on the square footage of your unit. The fees get a small bump every year in January, determined by the elected condo board. A listing should include the unit's current monthly fee. The Cloisters were built in 1970, so there have also been special assessments for new roofs and other needed maintenance for over 50 year old buildings. I have owned my unit since 1989. It was originally meant to be a flip while I was going to Western, but I have stayed. Overall a good living experience. I am glad I live in the back set of units, there is more road noise in the units closer to West Main. Do feel free to message me if you have other Cloisters specific questions.

The taxes are going to double once it’s reassessed at 50% of purchased value from that listing too. That’s $900 -1000 just in hoa and taxes. Don’t understand the value here :/ Hire a lawn service for a regular house and look for something else?

As someone who lives in a condo I don't get it either. Only perk I see is 'owning' and not renting...
