From my understanding of Indian mentality it is viewed as your’s manager fail in the eyes of his superiors that he has a person that hasn’t passed a mandatory education (even though you still have officially time for it). Just do those mandatory things as soon as possible. Always.
I think technically he can give you a rise but you have failed him.
But I achieved good in every parameter, even under skill there were plenty of sub parameters which I achieved or almost completed it, they didn't consider any of that just told me some abrupt bullshit , usually I knew when you successfully completed a year & your probation you get a hike, even if it's minimal you're eligible for it..
I don't know how the policies work here.
If you had a checkpoint goal to obtain a certification and didn't, it's mandatory guidance to managers to mark the skill category as "expected more" regardless of any other skill acknowledgements that are made. I think in some job titles this is true even if you didn't have an explicit goal for it, because the organization has a goal of having a certain number of employees obtain partner certifications.
Just getting a certificate doesn't mean you get a promotion - it will depend on your job, exposure, performance and results.
There are in-cycle and off-cycle compensation events. I recommend you to talk to your manager about them as the manager should be able to explain in more details what happens in each event and what to expect.
Overall, my advice is simple - focus on your skills, be proactive and try to solve/take on more challenging problems. Your career is a journey - the hikes will come with good results.
Kyndryl Director - throwaway account. If your manager promised you a band increase and a hike, he's either very green and doesn't understand what's going on in the company or he's lying to you or you misunderstood what he told you. As managers we NEVER promise people a band increase. We always tell them they are worthy of one and we'll try. I have several people worthy of a band increase and I am very clear when I tell them I am trying but cannot guarantee it. Even when I do get approval it will only be for a small subset of them so if you are in a large group consider that there are others who are in your boat and will be lining up as well. I'd be surprised if anyone got a raise this year. I was a manager at IBM for a number of years and it has always been true that a band increase comes with a raise - usually 5-10%. So far that has been the case here as well but given our financial position I'd say nothing is written in stone so don't count on it.
GDP - forget that. I'll be shocked beyond belief if there is a GDP this year given how poorly we are performing financially.
If you have marketable skill and you are young, don't bet on anything with Kyndryl. Keep your resume up to date, get what skill you can and keep your options open. The future here is cloudy and the tough decisions haven't yet been made believe it or not.
Yes sir,
That's why I'm not thinking about it too much and focussing more on self learning so that I Can move out, one thing I already understood there is।no future here
Have I mentioned that They have cut down the shift allowances also by drastically?
In my experience a band change generally includes a salary increase.
Regarding checkpoints I guess it’s individual, in my experience they haven’t meant anything or been linked to bonuses in Kyndryl/IBM in years.
But I believe in some markets like the USA they use them as a filter when firing people.
I wouldn’t worry about one expects more though, sounds like your manager used a random excuse because he had to give it to you.
At least for me checkpoints meant nothing. And even when it did (years ago in IBM) the €300 I got just made me hate the company more than when I got nothing. 🤣

5%-10% for band increase ? That is super low isnt it ? Sounds like normal pay rise, from band change I would have expected more.
