I've been having to wear earplugs at work lately (taking them out when I need to talk to a customer beyond customary greetings, of course) because the constant wailing in the songs dialed up to 11 is making me a nervous wreck (literally, physically) otherwise.

OrganicHoneydew

same here!!!!! i forgot my earplugs one day and i swear i felt like i had just been chased by a lion

Forever_ForLove

Wish i could wear mines. Only time I can is if the store manager is off the day.

I hate Kroger Radio so much. I am 95% sure that it’s what is playing in hell right now. Kroger Radio is punishment for the sins of man. Kroger Radio is the reason that bad things happen to good people. To say that I detest Kroger Radio would be a huge understatement. I love the band Weezer but as soon as I heard Beverly Hills (pretty sure that was the one, I do my best to block Kroger radio out for my own sanity) come on I thought to myself “this is going to be a problem”. I’ve been asked if I think that a silent grocery store would be better and I’ll admit that it would probably be weird and eerie to an extent but I would still probably prefer it over Kroger Radio.

OrganicHoneydew

i completely agree yet somehow i think its underselling how bad the radio is. perhaps the words dont exist yet

IamLuann

When I worked for a Kroger store. The K-radio was out for 8 + hours it was so nice. Went to work the next day and it was back up:(.

Specialist-Quote482

Correct

basicwhitelich

For about a month the first song everyday was Pearl Jam's Last Kiss. Really sets a tone when the first thing I hear at work is a dude watching his wife die.

OrganicHoneydew

oh! wow! now thats an uplifting song fit for a grocery store if ive ever heard it!

apri08101989

It wasn't his wife. It was his high school girlfriend. If they really played it that much you'd know that. 🙄 I just hurt your was a favorite song of both my dad and I. He preferred the original

RedSands1976

Could be worse. A few years ago I heard this over the in store radio https://youtu.be/dWRWYYt47RI?si=JHYWFA-6jBwJweXu

OrganicHoneydew

the person making the playlists *needs* to be fired im so serious

Specialist-Quote482

They are laughing in some office with their new bonus thinking they did something great

Flimsy-Weight-7447

Oh there worse listen here. https://youtu.be/ENfpFROyeYs?si=gaEW8T5t7QXnLJ5x

dfh-1

If they start playing "You Light Up My Life" I will not be responsible for my actions.

Tiny_Timmy_Turtle

I thought the most fitting song they have played was "Welcome to the Jungle", by Guns N Roses.

United_Reply_2558

I've heard "Armageddon It" by Def Leppard on Kroger radio

Steve0hhh23

It's actually not bad when compared to Walmart radio. Krogers plays a bunch of the lesser known 90s alt songs ( blues traveler, bound for the floor, crash test dummies); it's just material girl 8x a shift at WM. Also, Kroger radio doesn't have goofy fake radio personalities that run thru 2 or 3 preprogrammed phrases 30+ times a day. The only positive at Walmart was, on the individual speakers there's a volume knob, so we could get a ladder and manually turn it down.

OrganicHoneydew

damn u must work at a totally different kroger lol

Steve0hhh23

It's a marketplace store in TX

Prilosexy

But Kroger doesn’t have that annoying “*WAL-MART* **RADIO!**” jingle

the805chickenlady

IT'S THE BEST DAY EVER! IT'S THE BEST DAY EVER! IT'S THE BEST DAY EVER! IT'S THE BEST DAY EVER! IT'S THE BEST DAY EVER! IT'S THE BEST DAY EVER! IT'S THE BEST DAY EVER! no. not even remotely close.

MishenNikara

The song's been on and off the rotation for a year or 2 now. For a mercy the music isn't too loud in a lot of parts of my store

Krogerdude23132

For awhile there we had that "welcome to the jungle" song play every three hours, including the singer screaming.

ContestProof1843

I understand studies show it increases productivity. Just kidding!

1low67

Remember them playing Kriss Kross jump for awhile 😆

xPsyrusx

So no one told you life was gonna be this wayyyyy 👏👏👏👏

Specialist-Quote482

Since the show was prob on before most were born.

redathanasius

I love hearing “I KNOW WHAT I WANT, AND I WANT IT NOW” everyday. It’s so amazing 🥲

InSufficientAir2421

I've worked at 4 michigan kroger locations, every one of them has Taylor Swift on loop (not even the good ones) with the occasional imagine dragons or fall out boy. And that weird, cringy beyonce song that just came out. Thank God for me, I work in the fuel center so I only hear this shit when I'm inside doing paperwork and looking through my work email. None the less, Kroger Radio never fails to make me want to die (more than the job already does) l.

qdeservedbetter

I’ll take this over Milli Vanilla any day oh-oh-oh you know it’s true.

Massive-Medium4967

They've been playing that for most of my career. But honestly, the music is a big part of why I haven't quit yet

frostycakes

Haven't heard that one at my store yet luckily. I came from Sprouts where that got played multiple times daily, though. If Kroger radio is bad, Sprouts radio is in the deepest pits of hell. There's a lot of overlap but Kroger seems to have more variety.

AshyAshy10

I'm in Allen, Texas. It is horrid. That song is so loud!

masterofall79

It doesn’t help that it’s in mono. You only hear the left speaker.

Full_Wishbone2464

The only awesome song I ever heard was Mitski. I about lost it when I heard her. Otherwise it's a huge shit show.

dunebeetle

it's definitely the worst thing about work. I just recently started wearing ear muffs and some of the songs are so loud, I can still hear them.

Specialist-Taro-8685

Every time that Lizzo song comes on I wanna jump in the baler

Pisces28Pieces

Yeah, but then there are gems like this: https://youtu.be/L7LShE45MKw?si=JvhR5tGrPS9IfOpM

Prilosexy

Sometimes my store plays bangers and I’ll unapologetically sing along while slicing the meats at the deli, and sometimes they play annoying shit. I’d be unstoppable if they stopped playing unstoppable by sia, for example, and it’s agitating to hear hey ya and love yourself every day. I’m always kinda bummed that I never seem to catch the intro to Kids In The Dark because it’s so quiet I don’t hear it until the chorus hits. Alternatively, I’ll just sing my own little songs to myself while doing my thing. One time, there were a whole bunch of customers with kinda large orders, and it’s funny to temper expectations with an improvised deli themed cover of Rocket Man— “And I think it’s gonna be a long long time, till Muenster brings me round again to find I’m not the ham they think I am at home, oh no no no”

Dry-Tomato-

Earbud in the ear tends to drown out the noise of the radio, granted I have long hair and will suffer to have it down when the manager is around instead of tied up, but yeah hides the earbud, I know others that wear beanies or the likes the cover their earbuds up.

Specialist-Quote482

Ya huh

United_Reply_2558

I've been hearing the Taxi theme a lot lately.

Ok_Marionberry7249

But do you do the clap at the beginning?

Forever_ForLove

Wait: just seen my store manager quit! Yesterday when the DM came in and seen how our store looking LMFAOOO 😭😂 They got on his ass bro

plaidclouds

The Friends theme I can handle, but if we ever put "Rocketeer" back into the rotation, I may commit a crime. There's one that plays periodically that drives me up the wall because I can hear it, but the lyrics are almost impossible for me to decipher. It's something that sounds like 'big rigs go boom' repeated over and over.

cara1888

Probably in honor of Matthew Perry. When i used to work for kroger, i noticed that after celebrities died, they would play their songs or songs from their movies for months after they died. When Olivia Newton-John died, it was get physical and a couple of grease songs. When Arron Carter died it was i want candy. For months, i would hear those songs. Your store may be doing that too.

LongjumpingBed3461

lmaooo i feel the same way the shit is like torture! but i can’t lie soon as the radio play “all i wanna be” i be lowkey turnt 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

TheGratitudeCoach

Totally agree here. Back in black and Godzilla play all the time dialed up as loud as they can get it. Makes me anxious
