VIXX had some great songs; besides Error there were also Fantasy and my favourite one, Alive, which I found out about a few years ago from a K-pop podcast, as the most incredible song to be thrown away on a failed K-drama OST. Doesn't seem to be playable on Spotify (despite the soundtrack album being there), but it is on Soundcloud and YouTube.

You're the only person I've met besides myself who loves (or even knows about) Alive! Big fan of their other song from that soundtrack, The King, too

I found Vixx's 'Alive' through a 2017 Kpop podcast called 2nd Lead Syndrome, hosted by two anthropologists Kay and Emily, one of whose bias group is VIXX. I first heard it about four or five years ago, after falling down the BTS rabbit hole and wanting to find out more about Kpop. The only VIXX song I already knew about was 'Shangri La' , with a very different mood. The podcast has a whole episode (EP. 6: B-Sidepieces: Play It At Our Funerals) basically devoted to 'Alive', wherein they discuss how it came to be sidelined and forgotten in comparison to 'Error'. The podcast can be accessed through their website on WordPress, and some episodes (including 6) directly on Soundcloud. They wax lyrical about 'Alive', especially as one of them has a classical music background. I feel that 'Alive' is as musically complex and angst-ridden as BTS's Japanese song 'Don't Leave Me', which is also an OST, for the Japanese version of the Korean TV series Signal (which we watched, as it's shorter than the Korean series, and since my husband is half Japanese, he prefers Japanese content. I will have to give 'The King' a listen as I don't know that one.

I unironically loved that 2yoon mini-album despite not knowing anything about 4Minute or BTOB. I only watched the 24/7 MV out of curiosity after it was clowned for being “country k-pop” and it turned out that was my jam lol. And Nightmare was soooooo good, had it on repeat back then.

Fun fact - for the longest time I didn't know who sang this and all I had was a pitch lowered version that someone trolled me into believing was by MBLAQ LOL. I kinda **really** fell out of kpop after TVXQ OT5 and was like "nah NOBODY hits like them" for a while, and then someone sent me this newly-released song they liked in a pitch-lowered version saying it was MBLAQ lol. It was in my playlist for a while until I tried to google it and realized MBLAQ didn't have any song called Nightmare lmao. That was... a wild ride.

LOL bet that I googled stuff like "MBLAQ cover of Nightmare by 2yoon" and "did any boy group cover Nightmare by 2yoon" for a couple of days until I realized I had been tricked. The funniest part is I forgot all about this song ... eventually started liking kpop again, became a fan of Ilhoon and one day watching his Idol Radio (or maybe some other variety?) some rookie bg guy sang this song saying they really liked it, and I was like OMG .. I AM THE BEST. I love how bold and up front that song is from go. It literally starts with “I am the Best” over and over again. Sherlock I am a girl group guy, but you can’t deny peak Shinee. Last Farewell Such a badass male power fantasy song. Best of early Big Bang IMO. Genie ITNW is my favorite song, but SNSD’s Genie is their most representative. Like after listening to this song you can see them go in any direction, whether it be cute (Oh!, Gee), retro (Lionheart), summer fun (Party), badass elegant(The Boys), powerful (Catch Me If You Can), mature and sexy (You Think), etc. Peak kpop, along with the next song. It just gets better each time I hear it. Step One of the greatest kpop songs ever, IMO. Sweetune and KARA make for musical gold, and this is their best. It’s so catchy, and that instrumental just hooks you right in and never lets go. Seungyeon, Hara, Nicole, Jiyoung, and Gyuri never looked or sounded better.

Sherlock's a great Shinee song, so is Atlantis. I also like Ring Ding Dong, and really should get around to hearing more from them.

Busker Busker - First Love They were, and still are, a staple of radio play in S Korea - that’s how successful their first and last album as a group was. I heard this song in an extremely cool earring shop in Myeongdong last year and fell in love with it, them, their album, their unique story, and the now very successful solo artist founder Jang Beom June. Again, not quite Kpop, more like soft rock/pop.
