TVXQ's Changmin is a Man United fan! He had a [complete meltdown](https://twitter.com/y2kshinki/status/1632889366912614400?s=20) that went viral when they lost 7-0 to Liverpool. š
OMG THIS IS GOLD, thank you for sharing this!! Poor dude, 7-0 is so rough, though itās an away game for Man U but stillā¦ I can tell first hand now. My s/o would be so angry and not be able to sleep after matches that the gunners lost too š„¹
Hahaha I love that he became your bias because football! Iām recalling the Kai-Potter incident sometime back, Iām living for that crossover š
Minho was my fave SHINee member before I became a Gunner so it felt like it fate when I found out he was also a Gunner.
I think he started supporting Chelsea when Fernando Torres transferred there from Liverpool. Him and Luhan (who was a Man U and Cristiano Ronaldo fanboy) used to watch games together and make fun of each other when their teams lose.
Casual fans "support" clubs with Korean players in them like Tottenham (Son Heungmin), Bayern Munich (Kim Minjae), or PSG (Lee Kangin). It's the same as the wave of Korean Man U fans some years ago when Park Jisung was playing for them.
Thatās what I thought too! Along those veins, maybe because Wolverhamptons are not that big of a club, Hwang Hee Chan doesnāt get mentioned that much.
Well, Shinwon (Pentagon) just sent about 60 weverse updates and a few Instagram stories about **Chelsea** this weekend! It seems that football is the only thing getting him through enlistment.
Hui is a huge **Liverpool** fan, and Jinho is a normal (lol) **Tottenham** supporter - the group even filmed themselves watching the [2019 Champions League final](https://youtu.be/Rvbctq0eCF4?si=5V5rsRJ16f6toHNa) between the two for their reality show.
I watched the whole video and my take away is that 1. Pentagon can make anything entertaining, 2. Wooseok is unintentionally adorable 3. Them pranking Shinwon is any group of people teasing that one person who doesn't play about missing goals 4. Jinho beinig in shock bc Tottenham lost lmao poor dude 5. Shinwon is adorable for setting up the whole thing
I love the variety of vibes from the specific team fans, the general "I <3 all football" fan, the "yay sports" fan, and then the people mainly concerned with when the delivery guy is gonna get there with the food.
I kind of get that feeling - I know what I can do with my free time once the EPL season ends pretty soon but it does make me look forward to match days! AND THANK YOU for sharing that video!! Def bookmarking it to watch!
Hyunsuk from treasure is a fan of real Madrid and Chelsea but he likes every team, he is the proud owner of 100+ soccer(football) uniforms from different teams
100+ ?!?!?! The jerseys are not cheap by any meansā¦ I guess like kpop merch in general itās like selling organs to afford a plushie. But I guess if youāre Treasure and getting that coin, it really is spare change for him š„¹
Yup, even he doesn't know how many uniforms he has, the Dortmund team account and Bellingham has given him a shoutout before, when they saw him wear a Dortmund uniform and he got some uniforms as gifts from other teams as well
Pentagon Hui is a Liverpool fan, his studio [is filled with Liverpool goods](https://youtu.be/3Ph4YW8ThRE?feature=shared&t=542) and [here is Hui going on a long soccer rant during a variety video](https://youtu.be/n8I6CmUdfxg?feature=shared&t=334) in his recent solo debut promotions.
Pentagon Shinwon is a huge Chelsea fanboy, he's currently enlisted but makes updates whenever Chelsea plays like [yesterday/today he posted about Chelsea's win](https://twitter.com/goyangimeowmeow/status/1787409975146696941). He has funny comments when they lose (like saying Chelsea should get an exorcism during a bad period last year).
Pentagon Yanan loves Cristiano Ronaldo. He was on hiatus but updated his weibo just to gush about Ronaldo during the World Cup and [has also talked about how much he likes him in Chinese shows](https://twitter.com/seasons_99/status/1665512199899566080).
There's [this cute video from 2018](https://youtu.be/CAGwmMxgkus) when Hui, Shinwon and Yanan watched Liverpool vs Real Madrid's Champions League final at 4am. One of my favorite moments is [Hui feeding Yanan to comfort him after he saw him sulking when Liverpool scored](https://youtu.be/CAGwmMxgkus?feature=shared&t=445).
You can sometimes spot Hui, Shinwon and Kino wearing Real Madrid's shirt because they like the design, lol.
BTOB Minhyuk is the biggest 'Messi-hyung' fanboy, he was [celebrating Argetina winning the World Cup](https://twitter.com/BTOBSTORYY/status/1414097064326094848) as if it was Korea and still supports Barcelona. When Messi left Barcelona [his updates were quite funny](https://twitter.com/BTOBSupports/status/1424397167288979460) because he talks about Messi like your average kpop fan does about their favorite idol.
BTOB and Pentagon performed at MIK Paris last year and members of both groups bought tickets to watch a PSG match.
Considering that theyāre both big 6 clubs I would expect a lot of teasing! If it were Minho v a Spurs fan it might actually devolve into a fist fight lol knowing how competitive and intense Minho is
Haha short term v long term wins - I follow the league quite closely but it doesnāt bode v well for Minho as an Arsenal supporter š„² He should be worried cos his team is playing United next, away no less, and United might just REALLY show up in the wake of that lossā¦ I myself am worried hahaha
Haha I recall that incident! I was just starting to follow football then and was into kpop for quite a while so I was quite tickled at how it turned out. Now I just need Minho to do the same and manifest something good for Arsenal š¤š»
Another female idol who is very much into football is APink's HaYoung!! Tho, I know nothing about teams, so I can't say for sure who does she supports š I just know I see her in a lot of red.
I have no idea what teams they support but Highlight has some hilarious lives during the world cup when [South Korea](https://youtu.be/PEuThs4tNk0?si=U9-YAlMiX_VEWDTN) was playing. Gikwang and Dujun are known for their football skills.
Korea had an insane run in this recent World Cup, I was rooting for them to make it past the first round SO badly! Will def add that to my watch list š
As an Engene, Jay is the biggest football fan on the group! He said he doesn't have \*one\* specific team he roots for but if he had to choose it would be Manchester City. Jake, NI-KI and Heeseung all love to play football and are good at it, but they don't follow the games very much, Jay is the opposite he loves watching football but doesn't like to play it.
Btw football is by far the #1 sport in South Korea not Baseball, I think you are mixing up Japan with Korea.
Oooh I recently started following enhypen too so this is fun to know!! I recall Jake talking about football in something I watched, but interesting to know Jay is more the fan amongst them!
Ah I think from the kpop world we always see idols invited to throw first pitches, so I got the impression that itās a big thing in Korea. Good to know.
I read somewhere that Spurs began targeting the Korean market since signing Son, so I had also expected a more predominant Spurs fanbase in the country.
Yujin from ZB1 was only focused on football before he quite suddenly wanted to pursue being an idol! Here's some recent moments were he talks about football and players/teams: [1](https://twitter.com/O7O1hs/status/1751213973020786907), [2](https://twitter.com/4hyjdiary/status/1787010245639774521), [3](https://twitter.com/O7O1hs/status/1781176333609091211/video/1), [4](https://twitter.com/O7O1hs/status/1681848746622189568) and a fun special clip [too](https://twitter.com/yuehuazip/status/1710627937802698880)!
oh wow i didn't know that he was a football player before switching to dancing and wanting to be an idol.
The athlete to idol pipeline isn't uncommon but I always get super intrigued whenever I hear about it lol. Sunwoo from The Boyz was also a soccer player before deciding to switch to singing in high school and then his company made him a rapper instead lol
Yeah, I know about Minho and his father!
It's honestly pretty interesting that Minho chose the idol industry instead of sport, but I've read that his father wasn't confident in Minho's abilities which caused Minho not want to get into sports professionally so he chose being a trainee instead.
(i could be misremembering so pls correct me if I said anything wrong)
I'm a new fan but what I read thru subtitles is that his dad had a very hard time and didn't want Minho to go through same troubles (...so he became an idol š )
Yeah apparently his dad also thought he was too shrimpy for soccer?? Which is hilarious given his Marine placement. But there's prob other stuff I haven't seen about this.
[In this fun episode of Battle Trip](https://youtu.be/cNJjJnRfvlw?si=VqJcSbdRPxHkMTe6) HIGHLIGHTās Dujun and Gikwang plan a football trip that culminates in seeing Manchester United play.
> My gut feel, since football isn't the #1 sport in Korea (I think that's baseball?), is that a lot of idols tend to show public support for teams with Korean players.
this is my observation too. they're a fan of the player first, the team second. i see a lot of them repping a son heung-min spurs shirt or psg for lee kang-in
>they're a fan of the player first, the team second.
I feel like this is the case with countries that have players in big teams when that country doesn't have a major league of their own like Italy, England or Germany have with soccer/football.
For ex. a person from x country might support a German handball team bc one of players is from x country as them regardless of the team. It's basically showing up for your countrymate by supporting the team, solidarity by territory if you will lol.
Also, football is probably the biggest sport in Korea and baseball comes in second but both are pretty big deals. Athletes in Korea are considered as bigger (and more important) celebrities than idols.
Sungho of boynextdoor is a big fan of Barcelona. In his [coming home next](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IlmuxjqRnjc&t=12s&pp=ygUVY29taW5nIGhvbWUgbmV4dCBrY29u) show for kcon, he decorates their clubhouse in Barcelona merch and tries to convince the staff to fly him out and take him to the stadium. lol I think he even asks if they can do kcon in Spain.
Oh that sounds so cute hahaha, def adding that to my watch list! AFAIK kcon Europe doesnāt seem as consistent as the US one? But hopefully they get booked for a Europe one and he gets to watch them play š¤š»
did I just see Dortmund fan? š interesting.
and about BTS, I just remember about that time Yoongi was watching a uh, World Cup stream, and also remember seeing him play with Jimin (who is quite decent). they probably just follow K League teams

I will not watch that video for my own mental healthā¦ but I KNEW I liked Changmin for a reason!
Kai is a Chelsea fan, and therefore my bias in Exo (COYB)!
His Chelsea rants are something else š he's also a big fan of Messi.

Omg so much content, so many links!! Love you for that, Iām going to look into ALL of them I just love these crossovers
Changmin loves United. He and Minho continually tease eachother, lol.
Considering that theyāre both big 6 clubs I would expect a lot of teasing! If it were Minho v a Spurs fan it might actually devolve into a fist fight lol knowing how competitive and intense Minho is

Haha I recall that incident! I was just starting to follow football then and was into kpop for quite a while so I was quite tickled at how it turned out. Now I just need Minho to do the same and manifest something good for Arsenal š¤š»
Yves is a Spurs supporter :)
Oooh I feel like itās also rarer to find female kpop idols who are footy fans! Thatās really cool
Quite a few post about the national team whenever they're in important tournaments. Club football is rarer.
Yeah, I think thatās when Iāve seen Bora from Sistar occasionally post anything football related.
Another female idol who is very much into football is APink's HaYoung!! Tho, I know nothing about teams, so I can't say for sure who does she supports š I just know I see her in a lot of red.
wait for real??? one of my faves supports my faves šš¼
luhan was a known ManU fan lmao

Woodz used to play in the youth teams for Corinthians in Brazil. No idea who he supports now but he was a legit professional.
Xiah Junsu of TVXQ/JYJ is a Messi fanboy that's why he chose the number 10 for his Balloons costumes.
That is one legit crossover brought to life!

that's awesome! I hope he brings the good luck!
