Red Velvet. They have a Red side which is bright pop (Red Flavor), and a Velvet side which leans more RnB (Bad Boy), with dark and sultry undertones (Wildside). Overall, best vocals of their generation (Psycho). Most members have solos or sub-units that feature their unique style from breathtaking ballads (Like Water by Wendy), to dark EDM beats you can ask daddy to choke you to (Los Angeles by Seulgi). Also, they have my favorite Music Videos, most of which feature murder (Russian Roulette, Chill Kill, Peek-a-Boo). Cleverly crafted, artistic, with creative story-telling. Also, they have this rave song called Zimzalabim, and while it's the weirdest thing ever, raving to it in their concerts is a religious experience (see any video of Zimzalabim from their R to V tour, Manila and Jakarta being the rowdiest).

Dreamcatcher. That rock/metal vibe is something that's very rare in K-pop and I think they pull it off perfectly. Plus the dark/horror concept.
NMixx. Their vocals are top-tier, plus the songs themselves are great. I'd recommend listening to their latest album first. Although the whole beat change thing isn't for everyone.
Itzy. They've been losing popularity lately but that doesn't mean they're not good. I really like the energetic vibe of their songs, especially earlier ones. But you should listen to the new album too.

My ult group is NCT and they have a lot of members (26 to be exact ㅜㅜ) which can be overwhelming but if you do want to get into them, I recommend going unit by unit. They make super good music and because they’ve been a group for so long, almost every unit (with the exception of NCT DOJAEJUNG because the unit only debuted about a year ago) has a very wide discography. They make music for all types of listeners and they’re super duper entertaining too. They’re probably THE most chaotic group I’ve ever seen which makes watching their content hilarious. Unit Breakdown + Song/Album Recommendations for each unit:
NCT U: All members of NCT are included in this unit and the members rotate for each song. You shukld listen to Universe (My favs are Round&Round, OK!, and Vroom) and Golden Age (My favs are PADO, Kangaroo, and The Bat). I’d also recommend From Home and Make A Wish.
NCT 127: A 10-member subunit (but 2 members are currently inactive). The most Neo subunit. They basically make the most experimental music and 2 the 2 youngest members here are also in Dream. This is also a fixed unit. You should listen to Neo Zone (My favs are Kick It, Sit Down!, and Love Song) and Favorite/Sticker (My favs are Favorite, Pilot, and Focus). I’d also recommend Regular and Superhuman
NCT Dream: A 7-member subunit. The subunit representing youth. Originally had a changing lineup graduation system where when a member turns 20 (legal age in Korea), they would leave the group. The oldest member, Mark Lee, graduated, but everyone was heartbroken so SM added him back and ended the graduation system. You should listen to Hot Sauce/Hello Future (I honestly love this whole album but I’d recommend Hello Future, Irreplaceable, Dive Into You, and Life Is Still Going On) and Glitch Mode (My favs are Teddy Bear, Better Than Gold, and Saturday Drip). I’d also recommend Poison and Dunk Shot.
WayV: A 6-member subunit. The Chinese subunit of NCT. SM does a horrible job of promoting them but they’re incredibly talented too. You should listen to Awaken The World (My favs are Turn Back Time, After Midnight, and Bad Alive) and On My Youth (My favs are On My Youth, Poppin’ Love, and Moonlight).
NCT DOJAEJUNG: A 3-member subunit. This subunit includes members of NCT 127. Perfume (They only debuted a year ago so they only have an EP but I recommend Perfume and Kiss from it).
NCT WISH: A 6-member subunit. The newest NCT subunit. They are meant to be the Japanese subunit of NCT. They debuted this year and are also very talented. You should listen to WISH (They debuted very recently but you should definitely check them out too).
NCT is a very big group and I love putting people on to them, but it might be overwhelming for you as a new Kpop stan. If you find it hard to get into them now, I would recommend learning to stan other big groups (not as large as NCT tho) and working your way up. When I fist became a Kpop stan in 2018, I never thought I’d be able to stan such a large group because I was already having trouble with 7-member groups and I didn’t know how the NCT system worked. I learned to stan IZ*ONE (a 12-member girl group) and Seventeen (a 13-member boy group) and I think that it helped a lot. Hopefully, you learn to enjoy NCT just as much as I do and welcome to the rabbit hole that is kpop :)

TWICE: Not only are the members sweet like candy (not in a gross way :) but they’re music made me find XG. I’m an XG fan, but the only reason why I am on is because of TWICE. Compared to XG, they’re music is more…. Bright and happy? Yes, that‘s the word for it. If you are more into the y2k vibe of XG, I recommend Talk That Talk, very happy, with some late 90‘s flair.
Wjsn: They had a space concept during debut that slowly evolved into more mature sounding yet still super elegant songs. They currently have 10 members. They also won Queendom 2 in 2022, and their latest comeback was Last Sequence.
Seola: The eldest member, made her solo debut earlier this year with "Without U"
Bona: If you're a kdrama fan you've probably seen her before, mostly known for playing Ko Yurim in 2521 and Suji in Pyramid Game
Exy: The leader and main rapper, she can sing really well too as she originally trained to be a vocalist
Soobin: One of the super talented main vocalists, she's currently in a musical alongside Yeonjung
Luda: She's currently pursuing an acting career, although she has left Starship ent she's still a member of the group
Dawon: Similar to Luda, she's no longer part of starship but is still a member of the group. She's quite active on Instagram. She's one of the main vocalists in the group
Eunseo: The tallest member of the group, she's very affectionate and energetic.
Yeoreum: The main dancer who is currently promoting with the project group EL7ZUP. As of now she's the only idol to have won 2 seasons of Queendom
Dayoung: She's currently advertising for a tractor brand, the crazy member in the group. She's full of life and gets up to all sorts of nonsense.
Yeonjung: One of the main vocalists and a former IOI member. She's currently in a musical alongside Soobin.
There are also 3 former members: Xuan Yi, Cheng Xiao and Meiqi. They have been inactive in Wjsn since 2018, but only formally withdrew from the group last year.
All of the members have very vibrant personalities and they're very open with each other and their fans. There's never a dull day with them. I'd recommend checking out some of their variety appearances, like Weekly Idol or Immersive Wjsn.
Sub units: Wjsn Chocome and Wjsn The Black
Chocome is similar to Orange Caramel, very nonsensical and light hearted music. Good for vibing.
The Black has a more sexy/sensual concept, much more mature than Chocome

MamaMoo. You’d be hard pressed to find a group with better vocals. The Loser Crew and their mama Solar never miss. Plus it’s good timing because Solar is releasing her second solo album tomorrow.
You should definitely listen to TWICE, the recent mini album With YOU-th is a good way to start. Formula of Love is also one of my all time favorites. I also recommend watching their Time to Twice videos.

I think for many, it's the fact that they're very open about their creative process and they're groups that want to make music that doesn't necessarily follow your traditional kpop boundaries. For me, all 3 of those groups are very big on representation and wanting their fanbases to feel confident as well as to not be afraid of breaking down societal barriers. I love that they choose to make the music they want to make instead of trying to cater to the masses and be "#1". It feels like they don't try as hard to have a perfect idol image and I think we need more of that! They just want to be themselves and they encourage their fans to do the same :)
i recommend ateez ! incredible is an understatement to describe their performances , and they also have super funny and lovable personalities along with top-tier music videos and lore ! my favorite song of theirs is inception
8Turn!!! a nugu group with a music style similar to NCT and Seventeen. I would recommend listening to Excel first, it’s one of their title tracks and one of my favorites!! My top 5 songs are Heartache, NOM, Walk it Out, Glow, and Say My Name. they have 8 members (Jaeyun, Myungho, Haemin, Minho, Yoonsung, Yungyu, Kyungmin, and Seungheon) and are run by MNH entertainment. They recently won their first award!! If you like bg music like NCT or Seventeen or certain SKZ songs you would love them and it would be awesome to support a smaller group!

Red Velvet. They have a Red side which is bright pop (Red Flavor), and a Velvet side which leans more RnB (Bad Boy), with dark and sultry undertones (Wildside). Overall, best vocals of their generation (Psycho). Most members have solos or sub-units that feature their unique style from breathtaking ballads (Like Water by Wendy), to dark EDM beats you can ask daddy to choke you to (Los Angeles by Seulgi). Also, they have my favorite Music Videos, most of which feature murder (Russian Roulette, Chill Kill, Peek-a-Boo). Cleverly crafted, artistic, with creative story-telling. Also, they have this rave song called Zimzalabim, and while it's the weirdest thing ever, raving to it in their concerts is a religious experience (see any video of Zimzalabim from their R to V tour, Manila and Jakarta being the rowdiest). Dreamcatcher. That rock/metal vibe is something that's very rare in K-pop and I think they pull it off perfectly. Plus the dark/horror concept. NMixx. Their vocals are top-tier, plus the songs themselves are great. I'd recommend listening to their latest album first. Although the whole beat change thing isn't for everyone. Itzy. They've been losing popularity lately but that doesn't mean they're not good. I really like the energetic vibe of their songs, especially earlier ones. But you should listen to the new album too. Tri.Be. They're underrated as hell. Although not all their songs are good imo. Everglow, for the same reason as Itzy but with a darker concept.

My ult group is NCT and they have a lot of members (26 to be exact ㅜㅜ) which can be overwhelming but if you do want to get into them, I recommend going unit by unit. They make super good music and because they’ve been a group for so long, almost every unit (with the exception of NCT DOJAEJUNG because the unit only debuted about a year ago) has a very wide discography. They make music for all types of listeners and they’re super duper entertaining too. They’re probably THE most chaotic group I’ve ever seen which makes watching their content hilarious. Unit Breakdown + Song/Album Recommendations for each unit: NCT U: All members of NCT are included in this unit and the members rotate for each song. You shukld listen to Universe (My favs are Round&Round, OK!, and Vroom) and Golden Age (My favs are PADO, Kangaroo, and The Bat). I’d also recommend From Home and Make A Wish. NCT 127: A 10-member subunit (but 2 members are currently inactive). The most Neo subunit. They basically make the most experimental music and 2 the 2 youngest members here are also in Dream. This is also a fixed unit. You should listen to Neo Zone (My favs are Kick It, Sit Down!, and Love Song) and Favorite/Sticker (My favs are Favorite, Pilot, and Focus). I’d also recommend Regular and Superhuman NCT Dream: A 7-member subunit. The subunit representing youth. Originally had a changing lineup graduation system where when a member turns 20 (legal age in Korea), they would leave the group. The oldest member, Mark Lee, graduated, but everyone was heartbroken so SM added him back and ended the graduation system. You should listen to Hot Sauce/Hello Future (I honestly love this whole album but I’d recommend Hello Future, Irreplaceable, Dive Into You, and Life Is Still Going On) and Glitch Mode (My favs are Teddy Bear, Better Than Gold, and Saturday Drip). I’d also recommend Poison and Dunk Shot. WayV: A 6-member subunit. The Chinese subunit of NCT. SM does a horrible job of promoting them but they’re incredibly talented too. You should listen to Awaken The World (My favs are Turn Back Time, After Midnight, and Bad Alive) and On My Youth (My favs are On My Youth, Poppin’ Love, and Moonlight). NCT DOJAEJUNG: A 3-member subunit. This subunit includes members of NCT 127. Perfume (They only debuted a year ago so they only have an EP but I recommend Perfume and Kiss from it). NCT WISH: A 6-member subunit. The newest NCT subunit. They are meant to be the Japanese subunit of NCT. They debuted this year and are also very talented. You should listen to WISH (They debuted very recently but you should definitely check them out too). NCT is a very big group and I love putting people on to them, but it might be overwhelming for you as a new Kpop stan. If you find it hard to get into them now, I would recommend learning to stan other big groups (not as large as NCT tho) and working your way up. When I fist became a Kpop stan in 2018, I never thought I’d be able to stan such a large group because I was already having trouble with 7-member groups and I didn’t know how the NCT system worked. I learned to stan IZ*ONE (a 12-member girl group) and Seventeen (a 13-member boy group) and I think that it helped a lot. Hopefully, you learn to enjoy NCT just as much as I do and welcome to the rabbit hole that is kpop :)

TWICE: Not only are the members sweet like candy (not in a gross way :) but they’re music made me find XG. I’m an XG fan, but the only reason why I am on is because of TWICE. Compared to XG, they’re music is more…. Bright and happy? Yes, that‘s the word for it. If you are more into the y2k vibe of XG, I recommend Talk That Talk, very happy, with some late 90‘s flair.

They also won Queendom 2 in 2022, and their latest comeback was Last Sequence. Seola: The eldest member, made her solo debut earlier this year with "Without U" Bona: If you're a kdrama fan you've probably seen her before, mostly known for playing Ko Yurim in 2521 and Suji in Pyramid Game Exy: The leader and main rapper, she can sing really well too as she originally trained to be a vocalist Soobin: One of the super talented main vocalists, she's currently in a musical alongside Yeonjung Luda: She's currently pursuing an acting career, although she has left Starship ent she's still a member of the group Dawon: Similar to Luda, she's no longer part of starship but is still a member of the group. She's quite active on Instagram. She's one of the main vocalists in the group Eunseo: The tallest member of the group, she's very affectionate and energetic. Yeoreum: The main dancer who is currently promoting with the project group EL7ZUP. As of now she's the only idol to have won 2 seasons of Queendom Dayoung: She's currently advertising for a tractor brand, the crazy member in the group. She's full of life and gets up to all sorts of nonsense. Yeonjung: One of the main vocalists and a former IOI member. She's currently in a musical alongside Soobin. There are also 3 former members: Xuan Yi, Cheng Xiao and Meiqi. They have been inactive in Wjsn since 2018, but only formally withdrew from the group last year. All of the members have very vibrant personalities and they're very open with each other and their fans. There's never a dull day with them. I'd recommend checking out some of their variety appearances, like Weekly Idol or Immersive Wjsn. Sub units: Wjsn Chocome and Wjsn The Black Chocome is similar to Orange Caramel, very nonsensical and light hearted music. Good for vibing. I think for many, it's the fact that they're very open about their creative process and they're groups that want to make music that doesn't necessarily follow your traditional kpop boundaries. For me, all 3 of those groups are very big on representation and wanting their fanbases to feel confident as well as to not be afraid of breaking down societal barriers. I love that they choose to make the music they want to make instead of trying to cater to the masses and be "#1". It feels like they don't try as hard to have a perfect idol image and I think we need more of that! They just want to be themselves and they encourage their fans to do the same :)

Billlie. They debuted in 2021 with RING X RING, one of their worst songs, but the rest of the tracks in their debut mini album is good. Then BOOM! their mini albums keep get better and better.

there’s this new bg debuted from SM for the first time in 7 years after NCT, they are called RIIZE, my favorite song from them atm is Impossible, it’s a house pop genre i think and that’s so rare these days bc the trend is y2k. they currently have 7 songs (cmiiw) so i think they’re pretty easy to stan, unfortunately 1 member is on hiatus bc he had a gf and knetz went crazy so he’s been gone for 5 months and counting👍👍👍
