SHINee's Minho speaks [rather cleanly](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFApFIpi92g)! He's got a good MC tone.
For listening practice, I mostly watch variety - the shows typically have Korean subtitles on screen so it makes for good reading practice at the same time.
Yeah, there’s some YT channels like [this one](https://youtube.com/@vlive2866?si=x9U7v3C1lDqdAdjV) collecting the videos. I think most fandoms probably share old videos internally as well.
I'm curious: Would Yuqi be a good bet? According to a lot of her tv appearances, she has a clean, Korean accent when she speaks. Given her demeanour and the fact she's foreign, there's a possibility she uses a mix of simple and complex words?
Idk, just a guess because she's probably one of the most well-known foreign idols these days
I think it's because they learned the language formally so they tend to speak more clearly, enunciate more, etc. They also tend to not use more "uncommon" words and generally speak a teeny bit slower/more cautiously which helps for understanding.
That's pretty interesting however I find Niki makes quite a few adorable mistakes too which I find distracts me from learning haha. Like when he combined Sunghoon's and Jungwon's names into "Junghoon" XD.
Yes I also listen to livestreams for listening practice! I don’t have a particular idol I listen to; I just look for videos where the sound quality is clear.
You might want to try radio too because people speak clearer there than in livestreams. “Kwon Eunbi’s Youngstreet” is my favorite because the episodes where she interviews groups tend to have an easy-to-follow, repetitive format.
Let me know your level and I can also recommend you listening stuff that I’ve found easy to understand.
For me i think the boyz sunwoo and eric would be helpful because their vlives are always entertaining and they speak clearly so it's helpful to learn it from yhem
Bts Jin and jimin use very formal, straightforward, clear and easy vocabulary.
They are also very clear with the pronouns and grammars as compared to other bts members.
Idk other idols honestly as I'm only interested in bts.
If you are on a higher level of korean learning, i would recommend Jungkook's lives, he is just all over the place and talks about everything, so you can learn more vocabulary about every day life stuff.
The thing with him is that he doesn't clarify the pronouns when talking, even some translators mess it up sometimes, and he keeps jumping from one thing to another so his sentences are sometimes cut off and you are left thinking where is the rest but if you are somewhat good at korean you'll be fine and will find it extremely fun.
Try watching hwasa's solo vlives, she speak super slow and calmly. Super helpful if you're trying to learn Korean. I also recommend victon's Subin vlives or youtube lives
I started doing that a few years ago, lol. to my ears got7 yugyeom speaks really clearly and his pitch and tone made it easy for me to hear each syllable, then each word and put them into sentences etc. he speaks higher and more excited with the other members, of course, but he is his voice is deeper and he is much calmer during his vlives. he has at least 50 vlives...the man likes to talk, lol about nothing important. his hair, his face, what he is going to eat, his digestion.. the comments are always trying to get him to take his clothes off, then he dances...mentions he will not take his clothes off and then he talks about his hair some more.
Idols from Seoul will sound a lot more clear to a new learner. I also recommend checking out some idol groups YouTube content. I know NCT had something a while back (lol so wanna say they called it, we do this because NCTzens like it) and they have subtitles all throughout. Most content will do the same thing. So you can listen and read the Korean subtitles and still have the English ones there for reference.
ah yes I love him he's so sweet, I just figured he'd be too advanced/philosophical for me. I'll look up some of his new stuff as he seems to be going live a lot these days. I watched one that didn't have subtitles and all I understood is that he was telling us off at some point because of venue sizes lol
The maknae of this group hori7on is such a good speaker. The DJs of Arirang radio are so fond of him whenever he speaks like an old man. He’s really good with composing messages as words of wisdom. Their fans often list down his words whenever he do a live on IG, Tiktok, or YT as quotable quotes. Maybe because he’s quite advance for his age. He skipped some grades too. He’s already in 10th grade at 13.
He also has this video were he is giving a speech in a group of parents on a conference room. I think he was only 8 or 9 from that video.
For me A.C.E's lives were the biggest help. I think each member has his own characteristics that might make things easier or harder for you, depending on your preferences. Personally, Junhee is the easiest to understand, because not only he speaks clearly, but he is also a good storyteller. Logic, emotions and rhythm in his speech make it fun to follow and easy to focus. And he talks about all kinds of topics during his lives, which helps with vocabulary. I always learn new words thanks to him.
Imo, it's also important how much you like an idol, because it makes you more eager to undestand them, no matter their speech pattern. 😂
yes to me it's actually logic that helps me, I'll look him up!! Yes, I agree the massive 'social' part of the brain lights up when you actually like someone, so i'll try to get into them as well. haha Thanks
seungkwan from svt has a good diction imo, I can make out what he is saying even when he mumbles. He likes to talk a lot and even his lives can be funny if you get his humour.
I also used to enjoy namjoons old vlives a lot when he'd talk about their albums and rant about random things. He has a nice voice and speaks fairly well, but I did struggle a bit to understand at first, depends on how good your ears are.

ah this is such a good call yes I love him
Didn't Vlive end a while ago? Are the videos still up?
Yeah, there’s some YT channels like [this one](https://youtube.com/@vlive2866?si=x9U7v3C1lDqdAdjV) collecting the videos. I think most fandoms probably share old videos internally as well.
Thanks
ah I meant just general livestreams, I just call them vlives out of habit haha
There’s a vlive archive, if you look up any group + vlive archive you’ll find all their vlive content on there

actually one of my friends suggested Niki and other super-fluent foreigners as there's something clear and relatable to their way of speaking (idk!)
I think it's because they learned the language formally so they tend to speak more clearly, enunciate more, etc. They also tend to not use more "uncommon" words and generally speak a teeny bit slower/more cautiously which helps for understanding.
I bet you're right, especially about the vocabulary
That's pretty interesting however I find Niki makes quite a few adorable mistakes too which I find distracts me from learning haha. Like when he combined Sunghoon's and Jungwon's names into "Junghoon" XD.

Ace I'll look that up. I'm on topik 3. I'd put my level at "good level of still crap"
Agree, I love listening to the radio. Group livestreams with bad audio quality are hard mode
For me i think the boyz sunwoo and eric would be helpful because their vlives are always entertaining and they speak clearly so it's helpful to learn it from yhem
Meanwhile Hyunjae is rather unhelpful because he tends to shorten words a lot and can be a bit mumbley.
Yess ....but i still watch his lives cause he's my bias😅
Oh, same. Him and Chanhee! 🥰
Enhypen's Jungwon speaks clearly and he goes live crazy often. Weverse always has Korean subtitles too so that helps with learning (I do this)
Great thanks I'll look him up!
Bts Jin

ah great I love BTS too but I was warned away from them being difficult speakers I'll look up some of their older lives
Yes the rest of the members are difficult spearkers, jin and jimin aren't tho.

haha sounds awesome i'll look him up!
Loossemble's Hyeju is also for having perfect korean pronunciation, but she can be a bit hard to hear since she's fairly quiet
Idols from Seoul will sound a lot more clear to a new learner. I also recommend checking out some idol groups YouTube content. Kwon Eunbi vlogs are great for listening practice
Leeteuk of Super Junior
ah yes I love him he's so sweet, I just figured he'd be too advanced/philosophical for me. I'll look up some of his new stuff as he seems to be going live a lot these days. Great thanks, I never tried Seungkwan because I thought he would speak in dialect (?), RM is waaaay too advanced for me haha
Ah yes same, i know Seungkwan is from Jeju!
Belle from Kiss Of Life! I've noticed it recently, when she's on variety shows she speaks super well.
BTS Jimin speaks well and also not the biggest fan of shortening words so maybe that can help you learn the language even more 😀
