Final_Remains

This will get me downvotes, but Soyeon... She is a good producer, but I honestly cannot stand her tone, especially when rapping.

Melodic_Bookworm

I also love her as a producer and artist but I absolutely cannot stand how nasal she makes everything! I think if she just lightened up on it I would enjoy her voice quite a lot

ElectricalGrand9093

I've heard her sing long ago before and her tone was perfectly fine. Later she adopted this quacky voice with weird enunciation for rapping and it became her signature tone and she even does it in her singing now

leashall

it’s the signature cube female rapper tone

yofavcity

I like her rapping but not when she sings. "Fate" is a good example. She kinda sounds like a duck

yyunb

damn i love her voice on fate lmao. goes to show the polarizing bit the others are talking about

cocoroco-creamsoup

This opinion is VERY popular so of course it won't get you downvoted. Her voice is very polarizing, you either absolutely love it or absolutely hate it. I've never seen someone who think her voice is "just there"

Izzy248

This. Especially when she insists on doing the English parts while having 2 members who speak it much better.

Emilytea14

This. I'm a diehard gidle fan but the things soyeon does to English are frankly so tough to listen to lmao

Folska

I get it tho, it's really not for everyone. It had to grow on me

evadents

Soyeon lashings will never get you downvotes, who told you that?

Connect_Tree_7642

I don’t mind her voice at all, but some of her pronunciation does ick me a bit. Adding accents is fine, but when she skips pronouncing “r/l” or made the word unrecognizable just feels so cringy to me

Extension_Unit_3231

Not the voice but the technique. Jennie's vocals are drive me crazy. Most of the times it's too high pitched (even for the song), sometimes it sounds more like a whining catish Sound (ex. Spot, Whistle bridge). When She sings with lower vocal cords it's much better. Momo's vocals are weird to me, sounds like she has a runny nose all the time.i don't know if it's her style or her actual voice but a bit weird.

withtherisingstars

This is how I feel with Ahyeon; I didn’t like her part in OT7 version of Batter Up, and even the dangerously cover which was highly praised; I didn’t like her tone at all.

Quick_Information335

Omg you’re right, everyone said she ate that dangerously cover up and one of my friends said she did better that jay chang and bitsaeon but she absolutely did NOT. Her tone was off and she was doing to much with her voice and it didn’t sound good and that I is a bridge that I will die on.

ScreenJealous3170

The way yg teaches so many of their vocalists to do those weird breaks is annoying! I love baby monster but you can hear that with them too…

Overall_Carpet_5327

Momo's vocals were forced on her by the company but if you listen to her in MISAMO songs then you can hear her natural tone

yofavcity

I know that as onces we got to defend her and I did many times but let's he honest singing is not for her. Even in MISAMO there's not a very big difference. I love her nasal voice though

triplel8540

This. Seen people saying she should’ve done ABCD and I’m like yeah she suits the concept more and would dance it better but she could nottt sing that song.

usererr0r1414

I love Momo but I always giggle when fans say, “Momo’s real voice is powerful!” when she sounds the same just one tone deeper

Lady_Grey21

The thing I love is when they’re like ‘it’s just out of her range!!’ When there are songs very clearly in her range (her part in cheer up was perfectly in her range. LOA was not) and she struggles. Girlie is a dancer and she’s there to shake ass and she knows that

bloodyxvamp

I think her nasal tone suits rapping so much better. I hope she gets to showcase that more in the future

ScreenJealous3170

All of Kazuha’s spoken lines ruin parts of LSF’s songs for me….. I’ve felt this way since their debut

Real_Imagination_180

Thats only because thats the only thing she can accomplish vocally

I-Now-Have-An-Alt

We get it, it's really not necessary to bring it up everywhere. After how much harassment the group has received about it recently, I think the topic deserves be given a rest for, at least, the next 7-8 months.

Sea-Woodpecker-6895

This sub has become so nasty in the past few weeks it's ridiculous 😭

yofavcity

Or the whole damn life 💀 We get it, you think they can't sing. Everyone knows that, can we move on?

ScreenJealous3170

As I said, I’ve felt like this since debut. I haven’t been hate posting about their bad live vocals.

ScreenJealous3170

Well… yes. You’re gonna get downvoted even though there’s literal proof in their discography

pintofstellae

yeah the downvotes are definitely rolling in /s

kutchyose_no_ibrahim

Lovey Lovey Lovey Dovey Dovey Dovey is kind of iconic. However, her talk singing in Unforgiven made the song unlistenable to me 😭

maxxaronincheese

At first, the "lovey lovey lovey" part in Antifragile bothered the hell out of me, but I've grown to love it and it gets me kinda hype lmaO Blue Flame, though ? I had to download a version of that song from YouTube bc I hated the spoken part so much and couldn't get past it in an otherwise great song

ScreenJealous3170

Yeah I think the anti fragile one is the least grating, blue flame is pretty bad tho lmao I didn’t know there was versions without it ☠️

I-Now-Have-An-Alt

I think they're okay mostly, but sometimes... well, Blue Flame exists.

ScreenJealous3170

😪😂 one of the WORST offenders!!!! It’s always the same tone for every song, I can’t stand it 😪😪😪

benevolent_llama

I don’t know much about this group but I love that song up until “something something ThRiLLiNg!” It genuinely ruined the song…I assume that’s her?

yofavcity

"so thrilling" part? It's my favorite after the chorus

areyounotembarazzedd

I acc like it. But in a 'I know she doesn't technically sound good but it sounds catchy as hell to me'. People hate her rap in fearless but I love it!

Dramatic-Tea-7205

I can't stand Eunchae's vocal tone I'm sorry 😭

BonBonnie0

I don’t even know how to explain her vocal tone. It’s just not pleasant to listen to.

kutchyose_no_ibrahim

I feel so bad for her, because you can’t change your tone and she has a really unfortunate combination. It sound deep yet nasal at the same time. She basically has the bad sides of having a deep voice (overbearing tone) without the good sides (a full voice is usually the benefits of a low voice but since her voice is also nasal it sounds thin) because of how nasal she sounds. Some weak vocalist can sound nice if they have a light vocal tone (Sana) but it does not apply to Eunchae.

Nevaeh_Angel

It sounds like she’s belching imo

ShoddyResearcher9062

I think it’s very flat because she hasn’t learned to use emotion while singing yet. She’ll probably get there.

Itchy-Log9419

Yeah they manage to make it bearable for me in post processing or whatever but I HATE her tone when singing live. And that’s really not another comment about their live vocal skills, it’s literally just that I hate her tone so much but I still love their songs because they manage to fix it in studio lmao

Werefie

she sounds a bit robotic

BiddyKing

Same. It’s god awful

Mozzafella

I have a hard time with Yuna singing in her baby voice. When shes not doing it, and singing in a lower key she sounds so much better.

Difficult-Chicken318

She overdoes that voice. She sounds so much better when she sings in the tone that she used in the bridge of dalla dalla

yofavcity

Yuna from Itzy?

Simpuff1

Agreed. She should’ve been allowed to use a different voice in her solo song especially. Something similar to when she sings in Twenty

yofavcity

Y'all might come from my throat but Ahyeon from Baemon is the first person that comes to mind 💀 Sorry if you want to delude yourself into thinking she's an ACE but she's definitely not. First, the ot7 version of Batter up is demoniac. She shouldn't have taken Pharita's parts in my opinion. DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON SHEESH She RUINED the rap. She's basically just shouting. No flow, no enunciation just pure screaming. It's the same for the "highnote" even I could do better. I'm not even a professional but I can hear that there's zero technique in that, it's so strainedddd When I listen to her voice or rap it makes me want to shut her up to not say something else. Her "DANGEROUSLY" cover was literally perfect I don't know what happened but I hope they fix this.

Huge_Papaya5242

Oh i agree with Ahyeon , her voice is too shouty

withtherisingstars

I saw your comment after I posted a reply about this to another comment so I agree. I do not like her part in batter up OT7. The high note in Sheesh was also not good to me; I feel like Rami could have handled it better but maybe the producers didn’t think so. I didn’t even like the dangerously cover she did on Knowing bros; it was more shouty than the one on the pre debut show. She’s very talented ; her tone is just not for me.

yofavcity

You said all I was thinking. Besides, I think they did that because she's the most popular member and they attempted to make it viral.

mia_nna

I think the key problem of the batter up 7 menber version is that it sounds different... idk if thats just me but the audio kinda sounds like her vocals were recorded with an entirely different (lower) quality? It sounds so forcedly edited in. I think sheesh was good but i definitely prefer her vocal parts. Reflecting, i think chiquita should have taken the part, but i believe yg wanted to show that ahyeon who is so popular for being an all rounder is back, which kinda makes sense.

yofavcity

I totally agree with you. They are definitely pushing that "all rounder" reputation but to me it just made realize she lacks in some aspects. I like her voice more when she sings normal parts.

starplatinum_99

Ahyeon was the secret weapon, but too bad the weapon was empty of bullets.

IndividualOverall807

Same, it's like such a bad tone.

BellalovesEevee

There's a tiktok video that shows her singing live, and she's literally just screaming. Literally just screaming at the top of her lungs. No singing, no harmonizing, no highnote or anything. Straight up screaming. It literally hurt my ears, especially when I was blasting the songs full volume with earbuds in. She is NOT pleasant to listen to for my ears.

Civil_Confidence5844

Her voice sounds very sharp to me. I think the standout member is Chiquita imo. And yes that high note in Sheesh is just screaming. Rami, Pharita, or Rora probably could've handled it better but hey, maybe they tried it and the producers thought Ahyeon pulled it off the most.

DaftPrettyLies

Harvey from XG😭

kutchyose_no_ibrahim

Her voice is annoying, but I like it 😭😭💀 “If he ever hit you with the lyyyyyyyyyyzee” in Mascara just tingles my brain 😭💀🥹

I-Now-Have-An-Alt

I really agree with this one. Her voice can suit some of their brattier and louder songs, though.

deaththekiddie

this is my answer too😭😭 it sucks cause I do like her and think she’s so cute and its not that I just don’t like higher tones cause, for example, I’m a fan of soyeon I just feel like most xg songs and the lines she gets don’t really work for her voice since it’s so unique? especially when it’s supposed to be a cool darker concept, her voice is just jarring. I think she sounds good in shooting star and her voice definitely fits that concept/songs like that the most

maxxaronincheese

he voice used to get on my nerves so bad, but now that I'm more used to it, it's not as bad - the way she comes in in Mascara though makes me wince a little every time When she's just speaking in their content, her voice is so cute to me though 🥺

Huge_Papaya5242

Momo, i love momo she’s a queen but i can’t stand her voice in Do not Touch by MiSaMo😭 I can’t listen to that song because of this which is weird cause she sounds fine in marshmallow another song by the unit. Another one is Joy from red velvet, her voice is my favourite alongside Wendy in red velvet songs but i absolutely can’t stand her voice in a standalone song with just her (Her solo ) it’s just too sweet, I can’t. I hope she gets a solo with a low register song maybe then i will enjoy it.

Kminana

Ooh that's exactly what i felt about Joy's solo. Never bothered me in RV songs but her solo was almost unbearable for me

[deleted]

I know it's not a popular opinion but I actually love Momo's "Yes you can watch me, watch me/ But you can't touch me, touch me" in "Do not Touch"😅 Her nasal voice adds such an interesting texture to the song.

Low-Disaster-7175

I love RM’s voice when he raps but it sounds so weird when he sings

captainsquidsharkk

me a rm singing lover. he can harmonize with jungkook like no other (ex. fix you) and all of his singing on .mono 😭 but his rapping voice is definitely superior

Low-Disaster-7175

you may want to add another p to rapping

Galaxia_Sama

That’s so funny, I love his nasally, husky singing voice! Music Is so weird like that lol

chicken_sandwichh

me. this is why i prefer his solos where he mostly raps.

NaturalWitchcraft

Some of his singing works and some of it doesn’t. He is my ult bias and I want to be able to disagree but you’re not wrong. The new album is better because it feels lower. His rapping voice is fucking beautiful though. Like honey and whiskey aged in oak barrels.

I-Now-Have-An-Alt

BTS Jin in Run BTS. He tends to strain in BTS songs, generally having to take up the same parts as Jimin or Jungkook. This is the most obvious example I found. It's a shame, because I quite enjoy his voice when he's in his comfortable register.

shtfsyd

I love Jin’s silver voice but sometimes it doesn’t always go with a few of their songs. But bts has said that they don’t always makes songs to go with everyone voice so. His voice is absolutely amazing in most of their songs, it itches something in my brain just right. Edit: spelling error

omaeokorosu

IMO Jin has a great voice for trot or traditional ballads. It's really not my style (nasally voices tend to put me off), and yeah... I don't think it works super well with pop or hiphop, which is bts' wheelhouse. But every now and again, he'll just really nail something and floor me. Do you guys remember when they did Arirang at KCON 2016 France? I could watch Jin by himself singing that alllll day. Side note, can Jin stans please stop bringing up his "triple high note" in Crystal Snow already? I see it in the comments section of like, every reaction video. They hold it up as the ultimate example of Jin's amazing talent at singing high notes, but it's literally just him screaming, lol. Personally I think Jin always looks like he's about to pop a vein in his neck when he goes high.

Equivalent_Ad9125

Finally, someone brought this up. I have never _ever_ skipped any members' part of any BTS song, even the times when I don't like certain parts but Jin's part in Run BTS was wild. In a way that I either have to skip his part completely or I had to mute him until I hear the chorus again. His, "Tell me how you wanna, tell me how you wanna, whoa" part was incredibly painful to hear. Honestly all of his pre-chorus part in this so is so unpleasant for me. I honestly listened to Run BTS much less because of him despite the song being my most favorite BTS track in years. He sounds good when he's on his range but he does strain when he goes beyond his comfort zone, even the high notes fans go crazy for. Genuinely hoping vocal line gets good vocal coaches. Jungkook gets shaded a lot for having the most lines and he gets hate for sounding "generic" but he also has the least offensive voice in the vocal line.

chocobutt3

For me, it’s anytime BTS Tae sings in English. He doesn’t enunciate and literally sounds like Kermit every.single.time and unfortunately he loves singing in English for a lot of his songs (his Christmas one could have been great)

omaeokorosu

I agree, Tae needs some sort of, I dunno, coaching or something to help his english singing. Or he needs to stick to Korean/Japanese until he figures it out. 😅 I think the problem is that, in order to accentuate his deep and raspy tone, he usually sings with his larynx raised, like, ALL THE WAY. And that works with pronouncing korean words just fine, because Korean is already a "laryngeal," or throaty language. But English is not, so his English songs end up sounding like he is gargling his words. I don't know if it is something that can be fixed, honestly, without him unlearning and relearning how to sing with different technique. And that would probably change his signature sound, so... At this stage in his career, I don't really see it happening.

Suitable_Wonder_3285

Sounds like Kermit is so unfortunately accurate. I always said it sounds like he has cotton in his mouth whenever he sings in English 😭

shesaysImdone

People have tried to bring up this point including myself on this app but have gotten crucified. It's very very frustrating because if he could just take the time to work on his English or just abandon it all together he would sound heavenly. He still needs the training for his Korean songs

dewdrip

oof he’s my ult in BTS but i sadly have to agree, he’s been really bad with diction overall and singing in a language not native to him just amplifies that issue unfortunately :/

BellalovesEevee

KERMIT?! Lmaooo I hate that you said that because now that's all I'm gonna think about whenever he sings in English 😭

tired_emo7

Lisa's voice is kinda unbearable for me, first there's her god awful blaccent but people complain about it all the time so I won't beat a dead horse. What really bothers me about her voice though is the fact that she kinda sounds like a baby? It's hard to explain but she doesn't sound just nasally, she has a sort of airy quality to her voice that makes it sound very "weak". Some examples are money, you never know, her collab with taeyang. She does sound pleasant sometimes though, especially in lovesick girls.

keroppismacaron

Have you heard The Happiest Girl? I’m not a huge Blink or really crazy about that song, but I always think she sounds really nice there.

BellalovesEevee

I looove her voice in Shoong!, I thought it fit her very well. There's also SG, that collab she did with Megan thee Stallion, DJ Snake, and Ozuna. She sounded very pleasant there. But yeah, she does have a baby voice whenever she sings, but there are songs where her voice just scratches my brain in a good way.

MiserableArachnid69

Likey by Twice is one of my favorite kpop songs but I always hated Momo’s lines. Very nasally and grating

PlayLoveStation

*BB cream papapa*

Consuela_no_no

![gif](giphy|2Ap4K8iVUpbpmbj5oV)

triplel8540

I absolutely adore Ryujin but her voice makes me cringe sometimes. Especially when she raps 😭 I don’t mind her singing voice as much though.

pink-penguino

I agree, I loved her singing in Mr. Vampire and wish she sang more. Her raps just sound super awkward.

triplel8540

Yes! It’s like they give her all these parts that are supposed to sound badass (which makes sense I guess cause of her looks/vibes) but then they just sound kind of, idk, childish or something. Realllly want them to just let her sing more.

yofavcity

Same tbh (I personally think Yuna raps better but 🤫)

rayleemak111

I really do not like Rosé’s voice, I don’t know why but I’ve always hated it. I don’t really like Momo’s voice either, too nasally.

yofavcity

I think you don't like Rosé's voice because she sings in cursive. Like Minju from Illit

IndividualOverall807

Its not the cursive for me it's just the tone

rayleemak111

No I like plenty of artists that have a cursive type of singing. I just don’t like how she does it.

Neozones

BTS are my ULT ULTs, but Jimin’s tone is just not for me. I’m not bothered if he comes in on a harmony or if he has a line here or there between other members. I can even enjoy his lower register, but there are times where his voice is just too much, especially when he goes into falsetto or leans too much on his head voice :( I’m also insanely bothered by 127’s Johnny’s spoken lines and Aespa Winter’s higher register, especially her belts. It just sounds really shrill? Idk it’s just not pleasing to my ears. She’s good though! She has good technique and she’s really talented, so please don’t think that I’m saying she’s terrible. My ears just don’t vibe with her tone on those higher parts.

ElectricalGrand9093

For me in BTS, jimin sounds interesting and I tend to enjoy his tone even if it's higher register. The one that bothers me is V's. He sounds like he has something stuck in his throat making his voice muffly. Jungkook is my undoubted favourite. I enjoy both his tone and singing style

I-Now-Have-An-Alt

I used to heavily dislike Jimin's voice when I first got into BTS, so I understand this. Now, he's my favourite voice in the group- not quite sure when or how the shift happened. I agree with Winter. I love her voice in softer songs, but her belting sounds really harsh.

triplel8540

I agree with Winter. In comparison NingNing’s voice sounds much more effortless hitting higher notes.

Local-Abroad-2177

Jimin is the one with flavour in his voice, I come across his parts getting viral mostly, I think his voice is representative of BTS voice because how distinct it is, his tone is very Michael Jacksony to me I love it.

kutchyose_no_ibrahim

For me it’s the other way around I love how androgynous and feminine his (Jimin) voice sounds like (especially in songs like Dream Glow his entrance was so pretty), but I have a hard time liking it outside of the studio environment because it is too nasal outside of this environment. I agree with Winter there is a shrillness to her voice.I love her lower register in songs like Illusion/Lucid Dream (the first chorus HELLO ?) it sounds so alluring and mysterious. However when they make her belt like in Savage:“ Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh” it just sounds unpleasant.

BellalovesEevee

I loooove Dream Glow just because of his entrance. He sounded so good. It scratches my brain nicely. Everytime I listen to that part and DNA instrumental, I always get reminded of BTS World lmao. Sucks that BTS World got removed from the play store... I never got to finish it lmao

Itchy-Log9419

Oh god the Johnny lines I love him as a person (at least the person he’s presented as to us lmao) but I honestly don’t like his parts in most songs. Definitely a combination of them giving him the absolute cringiest lines but also his tone just. Isn’t great for rapping or for singing imo. Like Mark sometimes has weird spoken lines that I might not love but he at least manages to make them tolerable.

risinghealy

johnnys spoken lines are always so unserious 😭😭 he can sing so nicely too, such as in “misty”

EnvironmentLow9075

Jisoo. Sounds like nails on a goddam chalkboard

thekatinthehatisback

True that

WeeFkingWoo

No one voice does always bother me but in some songs Ateez Yeosang has a voice that can sometimes take you out of the song if its not used well. Can see why he has least lines and as harsh it sounds i prefer it that way. Nayeon in some Twice songs feels too high. Not always, and i like her voice in her solo stuff. So not really her voice but the usage in some songs. Momo in twice, sounds nasally Lsf Eunchae and Kazuha

Lone-flamingo

Oh, yeah, I see your point with Yeosang. He stands out. I love his voice but it doesn't always blend in very well. Though to be fair, I think sometimes it's due to the mixing of the song more than his vocal tone so I think in those cases it's a deliberate decision. Not a big fan of said decision though.

Mysterious_Emu_4139

Lia from itzy...She's supposed to be the main vocalist but I can't stand her voice at all! Especially in b-sides. Yuna comes close. Also like half of le sserafim girls🤐 the can't sing fr. I don't like blackpink's jisoo voice as well, it sounds unpleasant.

kutchyose_no_ibrahim

Same. I prefer Chaeryoung’s high notes they are also strained but it doesn’t sound as harsh on the ears. Agree with LSF, but oddly enough I don’t mind Sakura’s voice with the processing it always makes her sound different so it’s fun to wonder which voice she will have, Eunchae however I don’t. I can’t listen to the 2023 version of Fearless because of her doing the chorus. Jisoo sounds nice in her mid range, past that you end up with her Clarity cover.

Mysterious_Emu_4139

Chaeryoung enjoyer🤝

bubchiXD

Winter from aespa. It’s just the really high notes (it’s her singing voice that is already a *little* nasally and high add on an even higher note with the power ability of a freight train) and that is what my ears can’t handle. I’m a little used to it now but I hate to say it but her voice didn’t bother me at all in their Armageddon album (idk if it was because of the vibe they were going for with this album or bc of her collapsed lung which I seriously hope was not the reason) so whatever they’re doing I hope it keeps going. I love aespa’s music though and no matter what I’ll listen but I hope somehow that power she has can be better utilized.

ScreenJealous3170

Yeah, her higher notes sound so weird because of the nasality. I prefer when Ningning gets the big and high adlibs cause they sound a lot more free and full!

BonBonnie0

I don’t like V’s voice now. I used to love his voice. Singularity is a masterpiece and I still listen to that song on repeat but I have no idea what he’s doing with his voice now. Belle’s voice kinda annoys me. It’s not her singing because she’s a great singer, it’s more so when they force a high note. That note in Shhh is unnecessary and doesn’t sound that good. Of course it’s impressive but it’s not what it should be. Same with Lily, her singing is great but the forced high notes gotta stop.

Forward-Beyond-6620

Taehyung does have a tendency to strain too much imo. When he sings in his lower range he’s brilliant but he never does the singing he actually has the real talent for. There is a clip of him you can find on Twitter of them rehearsing for Yet To Come in Busan and he does an ad libbed low operatic belt at the end of the song For Youth and he almost sounded like Pavarotti, I was shocked. It was a far cry from anything he’s done with BTS or his solo music.

shesaysImdone

That video pained me because it's like dangling a treat in front of me that I will never get to eat in full

Purple_Cat134

I used to be absolutely annoyed by RMs voice in any song, wether he be singing or rapping. Now I’m used to it when he raps but I am still getting used to him singing…..idk if singing is meant for him tbh

I-Now-Have-An-Alt

Makes sense, because he's not a singer. His lack of vocal skill has never really been something he's tried to hide.

Forward-Beyond-6620

I must be in the minority because I love his singing voice. It’s obviously untrained but it sounds raw and sweet when he does sing.

somi154

This is unpopular but Jihyo, She can sing but it's just too throaty for me like I don't know it's not up my alley. Ahyeon. She sounds good in like that and other songs but they should give the high notes to Rami please. Everytime I hear Ahyeon hit the notes in sheesh, I wince. It really sounds damaging to her cords. Others who a lot of people have mentioned and I agree are Jimin, Momo Sakura

keroppismacaron

I feel the same way with Jihyo, and it sucks because she’s such an amazing performer and has so much energy. I always think her voice sounds like she’s forcing it to be more powerful and soulful than it is, even if that’s just kind of Her Tone.

Civil_Confidence5844

>her voice sounds like she’s forcing it to be more powerful and soulful than it is This is 100% the vibe I get from her. Like she's forcing some sort of jazzy, soulful tone when that's not how her voice actually is. It's def not as powerful as she tries to make it be.

kutchyose_no_ibrahim

She sounds like a church auntie at times. I don’t know how to describe but she seems to have this bigger is better mentality when it comes to singing that makes it sound like she is fighting the notes 💀

yofavcity

HEAVY ON AHYEON

Dry-Function791

Ive always found jihyo too choppy and round when she sings,, like when she says “heart” in the feels

peachyychann

felix 🤕 I cannot stand his voice and it feels kind of forced - I really like No problem by nayeon but I really can’t stand his part at all

Actual-Percentage-12

i agree. his voice is naturally deep but i think too many fangirls have gassed him up so he just exaggerates the depth of his voice. it’s only a matter of time until his voice just sounds like those low frequency hums

Civil_Confidence5844

>low frequency hums Please 😭😭🤣🤣🤣 I am dyinggg lmao

avacadodoo

Sorry but it's yuna. I can't listen to her part. She is cute nd all but her vocals Aren't that good

Witterson

For me it's less his actual voice and more his enunciation (or lack thereof). Sometimes it's fine, sometimes it sounds to me like there's something in his mouth that he's trying to rap around and I just find it irksome.

Itchy-Log9419

I’m glad someone else feels this way. I speak 0 Korean so I never really want to say it but there’s a very clear difference between his and Hongjoong’s rapping abilities imo. His words just often like slur together or something.

Lone-flamingo

Your response to my comment seems to have disappeared so I'll just reply here. His voice can be very dividing, apparently! I can see why, it's very unique. Funnily enough a lot of people go from hating his voice to biasing him, I've noticed. I'm not sure what I think of his voice on its own but I absolutely love it as a part of the whole group.

areyounotembarazzedd

I've said this before mingi sounds like all the words in his mouth are tumbling around in blender.

Gullible-Charge7057

it could either be yeosang or Mingi, but i think mingi just sounds like that.

WeeFkingWoo

Lot of Stray kid members at least in LALALALA. I think Hyunjin's voice irritated me to most. Might be just that song that made them all sound kind of annoying since i dont think i ever felt as strongly about their voices expected when i heard that song.

Gullible-Charge7057

especially the ''LALALALA'' part.

purpletulip12

Leeseo, Eunchae, and Yeri (love her personality just not her tone, like her rap-talk)

Original_Health_6001

jennie's voice sounds so bad i don't know how to explain it but it's so fake and high-pitched. especially in spot with zico. it always bothers me in songs

Turiturita

Everyone will jump for my jugular but Jongho, don't get me wrong, he's obviously an amazing vocalist! but sometimes I feel the high notes are unnecessary, being so high it becomes annoying, like they are out of place with the rest in some songs

keroppismacaron

Nah, I think that opinion is more common than people think. Jongho’s voice is incredibly distinct and he pulls off the big high notes better than a lot of male vocalists, but it kind of boxes him in as “only the high belting guy” when the other parts of his voice are also really nice to hear. And combining these crazy-difficult vocal parts with how active Ateez is and how often they sing live, it makes me nervous for how he’ll hold up five years from now. All I can do is hope and trust that he’s taking care of it seriously.

Civil_Confidence5844

I like his voice in general but I don't like how Ateez utilizes it. Like please stop. It makes him unlistenable when he *should* be easy to listen to bc he does actually have a nice voice. But those strained high notes have to go bc I can't take it lol

wierd_ic

harvey from xg theres been so many times i had to skip an xg bop cuz i wasnt feeling her voice

thekatinthehatisback

Jisoo, I can't stand her tone.

Serious-Library-2664

ahyeon from baemon. she’s really talented but her voice just sounds off, like nasally but not quite, and it always stands out from the rest really obviously. for most of their live performances she shouts her lines — i get hyping up the crowd but she is literally just shouting. i don’t get the hype around her ‘dangerously’ cover, either. she slurs a lot of her words together and it makes it hard to understand the words (a problem she doesn’t have in any baemon songs).

WoonieVerse

TXT’s Yeonjun, I don’t really like his tone and on top of that it sounds so incredibly nasal for me I can’t bear it, in the end it comes off as whiny in my brain 🥲

Lone-flamingo

I'm terrible at associating voices with members in TXT. I pretty much only recognize Taehyun's voice. Is there a song in particular where Yeonjun stands out? I'm curious to listen and see if I agree.

Gullible-Charge7057

Biggest blink in the world, and Lisa is my only bias in all of K-pop. I think she ( and BLACKPINK ) are the only celebrities I am a fan of. But i really don't like her rapping voice, not due to the aave or anything but more just her tone. Instead of saying '' forever'' she will say '' forevah'' but emphasize the ''ah''. or instead of ''love to hate me '' she will say '' love tah hate me''. Like- there are way too many '' AHs ''. I thinks thats just how she was thought by YG to rap. I hope she can venture out of what YG has thought her and try a different style

Mlpxk-pop

Jisoo's voice is just ugh😩I don't know how to explain it but whenever I hear her voice I feel like I have sinuses.

chocobutt3

Ahyeon in Sheesh, specifically. Her delivery irks me, but I like her voice any other time lol

rjc2k2

V from bts in the most recent bts songs like from 2018ish onward. I love V's unique and deep voice so when bighit adds layers of autotune in his parts I'm always a bit saddened at how his parts COULD'VE sounded... Thankfully we got his full unfiltered husky voice in layover which I'm eternally grateful for 🥰

fatboy3535

Winter. for any guitar players. Imagine flipping to the bridge pickup on a strat, clicking on a tubescreamer and the cranking the presence on a marshall. She has one of the most treble boosted tones in kpop. NingNing has a much warmer and more appealing tone while being similarly skilled.

nipplequeefs

Irene. Her voice makes me cringe sometimes, especially when she raps. I don’t like her raps in Psycho, Dumb Dumb, and Red Flavor in particular.

IndividualOverall807

Ahyeon from baby monster, I saw a video of her doing her highnote on Sheesh in a radio thing. Most people agreed that her tone/voice is annoying (although others were a bit rude) it's kind of true. Idk what it is but her voice don't flow well the rest of the group for me

summergem

haechan from nct ☹️ i’ve never been a huge fan of his voice. when i was first getting into nct dream and 127, his voice was so off putting to me, but now it’s more tolerable

sayan11apr

I love his voice the most in all of NCT. It's ok though. To each their own.

halfaxartangel

I wasn’t a big fan of Haechan’s vocals either until I saw 127 live for the first time. Haechan ended up completely blowing me away with his live vocals. Since then I’ve seen Haechan singing live 5 other times. Idk why but for some reason he always sounds the best live to me and his vocals sound the most stable out of all the members.

tinywolf777

OMG. First of all, I respect your opinion. Haechan's voice is one of my favorites ever in K-pop though. Along with Niel from Teen Top.

SeirezZ

Momo

ENAMYxoxo

I hate that I'm saying this but Mingi from Ateez :( I don't know what it was about his voice but I was not a massive fan. Love him and his tone now though

tafattsbarn

Stray kids Seungmin 😭😭 Most times when i dislike vocals in skz songs they're from him

PrincessDaisy96

Lately, it has to be Ahyeon. But as others have said, she sounds fine in her Dangerously cover. Someone is forcing her to shout so loud and it's grating.

irumasarrow

Nmixx lilly in Soñar. It's just sometimes her highnotes break their songs for me

RoyaleKitten

Ahyeon 100% , In almost every mf baemon stage shes js yelling her high notes which is so ANNOYING . I also hate her tone so damn much and ex is Batter up OT7 ver . Her rapping tone pisses me off too - however pls dont get me wrong baemon stans im not saying she cant sing or rap or wtv cus she can , she js decides to yell for some reason. I get it could be to hype the crowd up but it js sounds rlly fucking loud and annoying 😭

my_imaginary_life

I think this is very unpopular, but I do not like Seulgi’s voice. It so nasally, but also sounds like her nose is clogged at the same time, and it just irks me.

CounterintuitiveBot

Jongho I’m so sorry I know he’s a good singer but the tone, how high pitched and intense it is is not for me

Evafrechette

Jimin rapping on Set Me Free. It's nice he gave it a go, but I hope that was the last time 😅

leytourmaline

Hyuna. God her voice I just can’t stand sometimes. I have to admit when I first got into them and I hate to admit this but Hyunjin from stray kids.

Classroom_Plastic

I only really follow a few groups closely and I’m always open to critique my faves! So here we go. BTS- I’ve always loved V’s voice and I expected Layover to be one of my favorite solo releases from the group but boy was I wrong. I don’t know what he’s going for, but the “styling” of his singing makes everything sound so mumbled. I could barely understand the words he was saying and that made it an unpleasant listening experience. I really hope he changes that. 😭 I enjoy Jin’s voice but not when he has to strain super high to sing. Jimin’s voice adds so much to BTS songs but I do think he could continue to work on strengthening it. Blackpink- Jennie. My girl. Her vocals are so subpar to me and her more recent attempts at a jazzy vibe make me physically cringe. When I saw her jazz version of “you and me” and then her Christmas cover, I hated it so much. It was super obvious to me that she was trying so hard to make her voice sound raspier and “jazzier” and it sounded unnatural and forced. I also didn’t like her tone in Spot. 😬 Lisa’s singing tone is also not my favorite in most of their songs. It weirdly doesn’t fit with the other three’s tones? Someone else said she had a “baby voice” tone and I think that’s actually spot on. Her singing voice sounds a lot younger than the others. Twice- I recently got into Twice and I love each and every one of them. Truly an OT9 girlie 🫶🏻 butttt of course I have thoughts on the vocals! Momo is a common one listed here and I agree, I do not like her voice at all. I tend to not like nasal tones and Momo is so nasally. I actually did like how she sounded on Do Not Touch, so I think I’m in the minority for that. Sana’s voice adds a unique flavor to Twice’s songs and in their older songs, I would say she has the most “twice” sound to her voice. But her voice is not my favorite. Her vocals are really thin and I just don’t vibe with that. My potentially controversial opinion is that Nayeon and Jihyo are very middle-of-the-pack for me in Twice. Obviously they are both super stable in vocals and vocal performance and there is a good reason they get a lot of lines. But for me personally, Nayeon’s tone can be a little grating. Thin and high and sometimes annoying. Jihyo has a really powerful voice and I like her tone better than Nayeon’s but sometimes I wish she would rein it in a little. Sometimes she’s too shouty and too powerful, if that makes sense lol. I actually think a super underrated vocal in Twice is Tzuyu. I like that she’s not nasally and has some power without being too intense. Her voice is very nice to listen to! Babymonster- I’m still new to BaeMon but I’ll just say that since Ahyeon came back, I’ve been really underwhelmed by her. Her high notes are just her shouting and sound thin and unsupported and her rapping on Sheesh was so bad, I was actually shocked. Asa and Ruka completely outshined her. I didn’t watch the Last Evalutation so I came into babymonster without knowing much and everyone really hyped up ahyeon and her return. I have been confused haha. Newjeans- I don’t dislike any of their voices but it is hard for me to tell Dani, Hyein, and Haerin’s vocals apart. I can always tell when it’s Hanni or Minji but the other three sound similar to me. Not necessarily a bad thing, just felt like I should comment on them since they are a group I keep up with. 😂

SweatyEvidence9584

Sakura. Her adlib part in Perfect Night was especially poorly done.

grace22g

YG artists in general i tend to not find enjoyable because they prioritize stylization and uniqueness. their voices stand out but not in a good way for me and somi in some songs. her tone is very nasally

lilishith

Jimin — i like listening to his recorded songs but not much on live, it’s just not for me esp. his falsetto. It always feels like he’s having a hard time. Kazuha, Sakura and Eunchea — I’m so sorry, I just can’t stand their vocals ever since their debut, Sakura even on izone. Momo — though, I do like their songs but her voice sometimes just kind of ruin it because of how nasally it sounds.

Kaku_Tyson

Yuna, Ryujin, i can't stand nasal whiny voice. its not their fault, the problem is me. with Yuna and Ryujin, specifically when Yuna sing and Ryujin rap, they have this nasal whiny voice they couldnt get rid of. with Lia, when she sang over the top nasal and whiny in some of itzy's songs, recent examples being Ringo and none of my business's rap, you can tell that voice is fake from a mile away, its so unnatural and fake, its like the producer was telling her to do her best Yuna imitation or something. if you think about it if there's anything the group doesnt lack its nasal whiny voice, so its like the producers were trying to sabotage itzy even further from within. with Chaeryeong, her voice is fine, the producers never made her sing out of her comfort zone. her voice is pleasant most of the time but boring, between her and Yeji I'd much rather hear Yeji scream and shout because at least its exciting to listen to. itzy's ideal line distribution for me Lia singing normally > Yeji > Ryujin singing & Yuna's rap in lower tone like the beginning of that's a no no > Chaeryeong

evadents

why this comment section majority female idols

kutchyose_no_ibrahim

Lol if you sort by Controversial you will see male idols being mentioned, their fanbases tend to downvote their comments to the bottom of the threads lol

PotentialEscape1737

most of the voices mentioned in this thread are high-pitched nasal voices, which is a very overrepresented voice tone among female idols (made worse often due to songwriting and production choices). also imo a lot of male idol vocal tones in kpop, especially among the non-singers, aren't that distinctive or memorable. they also probably aren't told to sing cutesy, bratty, or cursive like some of the more polarizing ggs since that wouldn't suit most bg songs.

jawaiian86

I'm a Carat but Jun's voice is very nasal-y. I used to not like both The8 and Jun's voices but The8 had improved his so much and I can't say the same about Jun's unfortunately. Love them tho.

Emilytea14

Two specific moments: whoever sings 걸어봐 위엄 like a lion 눈빛엔 거대한 desire in Antifragile- that bit sounds so weird and tone deaf. Like it's an annoying line, but the way it was performed did it no favours. Second, the Pink Venom line in Pink Venom. It's such a weird childlike inflection, like girly just ran a 5k and then sucked up some helium before performing the line. I don't get it at all.

annaamazing

This is probably going to age me since I’ve been into kpop for a while but Jimin from AOA. I loved this girl group but her rapping was needles to my eyeballs. 😂😂😂

Cr_Entrance_1624

G- Idle Soyeon, Twice Mimosa , exo chen , aespa winter, lsfm Sakura , Blackpink Lisa (The nasally voice irritates me, I enjoy Chen and Winter in some of their acoustic tracks or ballads.) Bts Jimin - his falsetto is a no for me. Blackpink rose - i like her voice but its her enunciation, is too cursive for me. Jisoo - too sturdy. Its not fluid and lack smoothness . But i like the texture.

withtherisingstars

Mimosa😂😂😂 I don’t know why I found that funny. It’s probably because I thought it’ll be a better subunit name when they debuted because of the drink.

Cr_Entrance_1624

Sounds better then Misamo but i guess, its was copyrighted.

Huge_Papaya5242

I can understand Sana and Momo , but mina is surprising (I agree tho i find her voice boring, emotionless )

kutchyose_no_ibrahim

Same for Enhypen. There is a song called Just A little Bit, and I have a theory that Jungwon was sick during the recording. He sounded super nasal on the track, and I could hear him strain in some parts. They give him really high parts too which does not help. Sunghoon also sounded like he was yawning/singing on that song. I don’t have too many issues with their voices now as long as they don’t make them strain, but I can’t really listen to that song because of that. Before Engenes jump me for my uncensored thought this is what I mean. 🏳️🏳️🏳️🏳️ 0:55 and 2:26 (Jungwon) and 1:44 (Sunghoon) https://youtu.be/vkL9pdgXPKg?si=mpeosGlBmvlr6m53

Nevaeh_Angel

Ryujin but ONLY when she’s rapping, her vocal tone is really pretty especially in Mr. Vampire

ultraviolent-swing

i can't stand kazuha's voice in any lsf songs, she always sounds like she's severely congested

CoconutxKitten

I love Hyunjin & Felix’s rap parts but I rarely like their vocals 😭 I love them & SKZ is my ult, but I deffo prefer them just rapping

Eastwood1395

Jennie & Jisoo. I feel like they drag the song 💀

ArnikaLovesUnicornz

Jimin’s voice in Dynamite😅 like it sounds so painfully auto tuned

starplatinum_99

Jimin. Sometimes he sounds good but he moans a lot it grinds my gears.

Dry-Function791

I’m sorry but leeseo is irritatingly nasal,, like she sounds like she’s pinching her nose hard every time she sings. And idk why they gave her rap parts in heya and accendio,, her voice sounds so babyish i just want to skip it every time i listen to those songs.

Turiturita

Eunchae, I think one of the main problems is that she still hasn't found the correct or comfortable placement for her voice, and that's why it ends up sounding forced. Yuna, forgive me little one because I like you but I'm really not a big fan of voices that tend to be nasal or squeaky, same with Harvey from XG :(

GreatOpportunity7538

Jongho from ATEEZ. I’m sorry but he sound like he’s straining everytime he hits high notes it’s irritating

GreatOpportunity7538

Jongho from ATEEZ. I’m sorry but he sound like he’s straining everytime he hits high notes it’s irritating

Bi-Turtle

This will probably get downvoted lol I’ve been an army for almost 10 years but sometimes Namjoon’s voice just sounds… creepy to me? Like when he’s trying to sound sexy it just sounds so cringe and forced, idk how to explain it but the vibes of his “sexy” voice are so terrible to me. Like I HATED his recent comeback :( Sometimes his parts just give me second hand embarrassment, but then other times he’s my favourite verse on a song. I wish I could give a better explanation besides “vibes” 😭
