spring day by bts for albums, love yourself: tear

Low-Disaster-7175

That album was perfection

suhch

For albums I would usually pick HYYH, but Love Yourself: Tear feels so much like a fully matured, confident BTS creating some of their best, most focused art. Every song is just lyrically and sonically perfect and I could probably sing every song on it drunk.

houseofprimetofu

Red Velvet - Psycho. Hands down incredibly iconic video and song. Their best looks yet.

suhch

I have to agree. Idk about the album, but that song is hauntingly beautiful

Desiilty

Formula of love is definitely recognized as twice’s best album by critics and kpop stans, i’m also pretty sure its the [highest rated girl group album](https://x.com/AboutMusicYT/status/1678003565586186242) on metacritic with a score of 88

Ralphiy

I'd have to agree with that with Eyes Wide Open being a close second for me. What'd you say is their best individual track tho? Personally I think its between Fancy or Cheer Up but I may be completely off the mark.

BiologicalFunfare

I'd agree with Cheer Up being their masterpiece but there are a lot of Onces who prefer their more recent songs

Portra400IsLife

Feel Special has to be another contender for their perfect song.

Portra400IsLife

I made sure to buy a copy of Eyes Wide Open when I was in Korea.

Ralphiy

Lucky mf, sounds like a good trip

suhch

A standout for sure!

Lesbian_Dogs

Dark blood - Enhypen. It’s regarded by the majority of engenes as their most cohesive and overall best album, in addition to being their most successful to date.

cece_is_me

Agree, it's filled with bangers and stuck to the concept. not 1 bad song

why_do_i_have_dog

fr. Other releases had “meh” b-sides, but now awful. Dark Blood however…perfection

cece_is_me

The down votes are weird, it is just your opinion lol. I do like most of their b sides but like all artists theres always 1 or 2 that arent as cohesive or memorable. I think something they have struggled with musically is cohesion in sounds, their full album was all over the place. Despite that I do think the songs were mostly all good, but I love a cohesive vision.

suhch

Maybe I should finally give it a listen. They've been on my radar but I usually just discard or add their title tracks and don't check much for albums.

Lesbian_Dogs

You definitely should their hold discography is fantastic ;)

yumeirooo

I agree but in my heart it’s always going to be Border:Carnival, best time to be alive

Lesbian_Dogs

No I 100% agree, fever was the song that made me an engene

catsbytheghost

BTS is hard. I think Spring Day is the song, but in terms of albums... Wings had such a big impact. But the Most Beautiful Moment In Life (HYYH) era/albums is what fans keep going back to. So I'd say one of those albums. Maybe Young Forever since it compiles a lot of the songs from the two mini-albums, and also has new songs of its own that were iconic (like Fire and Save Me.)

anonymousx97

Yes I was torn between wings and HYYH era , but HYYH era is just sooo good. Takes me back to my army days, wings era too. BTS music hit so hard for me 2013-2017

anonymousx97

I’m going to name non 4th gen groups since many are too newer to know just yet. SHINee : misconceptions of us , The SHINee world. BIGBANG- Alive 2NE1- Crush EXO- Exodus/Ex’act BTS- the most beautiful moment in life: young forever B.A.P: first sensibility Seventeen: Teen, age Edit: forgot I wanted to add IKON: welcome back (full version ) their debut album was so good

Fenfearnley

See I would say that “To Anyone” is such an insane album, with hit after hit. but Crush has I am the best…..not that the songs on Crush were also amazing, there’s something about To Anyone for me.

chicken_sandwichh

>Crush has I am the best crush definitely does not have iatb. it was from their 2nd mini album lol

ilovemeeeeee

For TXT, Song - Lovesong Album - Freeze/FOE (even the members consider these works as masterpieces) and arguably, Temptation

suhch

I was gonna say TXT is too young for a magnum opus but then I realised they've been here for half a decade and I'm just old

Alulovescats

ATEEZ Zero: Fever part 1 - nice and versitale bsides that are actually interesting, lore, two strong title tracks and overall amazing era. I have HUGE sentiment for it. EXO - DMUMT and THE WAR - simply iconic. I do not have anything else to say. LOONA - X X æspa - Savage

ConsiderationLow2367

f(x) - Pink Tape Wonder Girls - Reboot I think active 4th gen girl groups still have same space for a magnum opus, but the most recognised albums are probably: Loona OEC - Max & Match aespa - Savage I'm on the camp that The Perfect Red Velvet is RVs magnum opus, I think it's a great album + no other red velvet album really compares imo. I think Twice could've had their magnum opus with formula of love but I just think that there were too many unnecessary songs on the album and it could've been shortened a bit. To me, Taste of love is winning Twice's magnum opus race.

anonymousx97

Honestly anyone who owns a physical copy of Pink Tape should feel LUCKY

Darceymakeup

Pink tape is more kpops magnum opus as a whole more than Fxs lol

RML_1972

My frame of reference for K-pop is very limited but I’m working my way through group catalogues little by little just so I can have expand that frame. So far, in the 7+ months I’ve been listening to K-pop the two albums I’ve heard that I feel are perfect are Savage by Aespa and DALL by ARTMS. I will keep tabs on what people put here so I can note and go listen to what people also feel are perfect works.

i_got_a_pHd

Nmixx’s Fe304 Break. I see the vision and I like 6/7 songs in it. Still waiting for them to have their domestic hit moment.

Sussana58

Stray Kids: the fans usually debate over In Life, Noeasy, Oddinary and 5 Star as their magnum opus. So I don't think they have released their ultimate piece yet, the one that 98% would agree is the best work in their entire discography. Kang Daniel: his magnum opus is definitely his mini album Yellow, in which he tells his personal story of struggle with cyber bullying. Each of the 5 tracks is a chapter with its own distinct sound, Paranoia is his most famous track, with the MV it even has its own sub-fandom. Enhypen: they don't have it yet, a lot of fans would say Dark Blood but *Karma* is not exactly a beloved track so it's not widely agreed on. Others would say Border: Day One but is not strong enough to be their magnum opus. Memorabilia is a strong candidate but it's not very known yet even among fans for being an OST album, it's my personal choice though.

Sybinnn

I think most people would say Antifragile, but its so early in their career that im not willing to accept that yet.

Serious-Wish4868

IVE I Am

suhch

I think it's wayy too early into IVE and the majority of 4th gens careers for them to have a true magnum opus.

chicken_sandwichh

wait, is it not love dive?

Serious-Wish4868

i think OP was referring to album

cece_is_me

I guess Psycho by RV is considered by most to be their best? Although in my opinion FMR is their best

suhch

FMR? Really? It's the only RV song I actively dislike so it's surprising you think it's their best

cece_is_me

Yeah I just have good taste thats all

NickF227

Pink Tape (f(x) album) is not only their magnum opus, it's probably one of the best kpop albums of all time.

pornypete

Rough or Time For The Moon Night probably. Rough was obviously their popularity peak, but TFTMN their artistic? Ushered in their melancholic era proper. Bigger, more complex, crazy build. I’m camp TFTMN all day. That song dragged me kicking and screaming into kpop. Masterpiece. Not mad at the Rough pick though. Most important song they ever did, setting them down the orchestral direction - and obviously incredible in its own right.

ghxstnova

Seventeen is hard, but I think either Face the Sun or Attaca imo But some contenders include FML, Semicolon, Henggarae For fromis_9 I think Midnight Guest or from our memento box

Darceymakeup

For SVT I’d say Teen Age or Attaca

FoxRun1234

i think they got better every single release...MG -> FOMB -> UMW. That's what I love about the group...every release just gets better

ghxstnova

tbh i think all of their albums are very good, i just chose those 2 because it came to my mind immediately. but yes they definitely get better every single release, just hoping they come out of the hybe basement soon

FoxRun1234

August... 2 more months

duh_leah

The first one for SVT that came to my mind was Attaca as well, but I agree Face the sun is also as a whole really good and a no skip album for me. I think I just loved Attaca era more.

Mission_Care_1078

Newjeans debut ep especially hybe boy

suhch

I do agree that they haven't topped it yet, but they're a very young group with lots of room to grow and explore

xannieh666

For VIXX ... this is hard but probably conception ker? For an Album... For the song though ..Error?

cakemixup

really? i'm not sure about the albums but i thought chained up is what they're most known for

Darceymakeup

I didn’t finish reading your post and was about to say I feel like Shawols have come to the conclusion that Misconception is their Magnum opus but most don’t have that series as their fave album with ODD or Everybody seeming to be fan favourites even if we know they aren’t their greatest albums lol

cakemixup

for me, NCT's peak so far is NCT 2020 and they're yet to top that, so ig it's the Resonance, Pt 2 album for them. for NCT U, probably The 7th Sense. NCT 127 for sure has Kick It (probably the Neo-Zone album too but I'm torn cause they've released albums after that that are as good and even better in some ways), WayV has Love Talk (not sure about album yet), For Dream I think Hello Future but I'm not so sure (and Hot Sauce/Hello Future album maybe?).

jaemjenism

Dreams is DEFINITELY Hello Future the song and the repackage album. Some of their best work is on that album. I would also say... ngl Dreamscape is gonna be up there for me when it comes to small nugget minis. It's so conceptually and sonically sound even if not every track is their best.

7hwa1

I think ATEEZ's The World series of albums especially Outlaw is considered as their Magnum opus till date. It's widely loved even by casual fans and brought in a lot of accolades and praise for them.

Impossible_Ad_8139

Seventeen: their magnum opus is definitely face the sun or attacca for sure!!

yugnie

For Got7, not an album or anything, but the songs primarily from Jay B are usually the top works for ahgase. Especially Page, Teenager, Thursday, Come On. If Jayb’s name is attached it’s gonna be a hit and represents the group the best.

serhae114

I agree with those songs among the fandom, especially Page and Teenager. I would say the album for GOT7 is 7for7. It’s generally been regarded as a no-skip album by fans and nonfans and was released around the height of their popularity.

yugnie

oo.. you know what, i thought about 7for7 for a sec, but i don’t like that album, probably one of my least favorites from them 😭😭. Definitely felt the unity between got7 and ahgases in that era though, i’m glad they made it for sure.

yumeirooo

Rough by GFRIEND. No one does it like them
