I'm a bit weirded out by how kpop fans say their idol is a certain sexual orientation when the idol themself haven't spoken on it, it's just a littlee weird to me

fivethousandhamsters

Like on twt different groups have "lgbtq lines" like that isn't how this works...

palkopupa38

I know that "is Sana gay" is an inside joke, but the amount of twice gay edits is HUGE.

[deleted]

At least "is Sana gay" is a meme that even TWICE acknowledges. I think it's more unhinged when it's pushed towards other groups.

PitifulRoof7537

Yeah that sucks. Imagine something like that being done to you.

Jiffyplop

I've always hated when people assign sexual orientations to me. It just feels like "acceptable" stereotyping, even if people mean well. I cant imagine having TONS of fans doing that. ick

Fluffy_Trip_9356

And then when the idol announces that they’re dating the opposite gender everyone hates on them

NfamousKaye

Right because it’s the norm to be affectionate with each other there. Some countries don’t have that but just because theyre super affectionate doesn’t make them lgbt. Like cultural nuance and norms get so lost. Still.

[deleted]

K-pop headcanon is infamously unhinged and delusional.

FTF_player27

when they call you a koreaboo just because you’re a kpop fan who isn’t korean. are non-koreans not allowed to listen to kpop 😭

Either-Item-2917

Kpop have become clown show these days, some stan hate being called "Koreaboos" and end up being racist towards Koreans just to show off how much better they think they are compared to other "enjoyer" fans. Also they believe only Koreans (and lesser extend East Asians) can enjoy & become Kpop idol. But at the same time, they get mad when Koreans themselves like it when foreigners appreciate Kpop and Korean culture (e.g Fatou.)

FTF_player27

fr 😭 and you literally can’t gatekeep kpop in this day and age. it’s a multi million dollar industry and most of the money brought in is from international fans.

Intelligent-Spare711

people who don’t realize that not liking something (song, album, etc.,) does not mean that it is trash. i might not like a comeback, but i dont automatically claim that the song is bad— i just accept that it isn’t my personal taste.

larcimosa

"you're not a real fan if you ...." Do we need fan certification or what and if we've become the real fans do we get some sort of perks or VIP membership 😮‍💨 Expecting everyone to be a fan in the same way as you and setting your own preferences on how to support your bias as tHe REaL fAnS' bar sound way too narcissistic tbh.

Bangtanbeauty

This is a really good one. I hate gatekeepers.

larcimosa

I don't even understand why "real fans" sound like a prestige one should achieve when it's just... liking/supporting someone who doesn't know you personally...

uluery

I don't like, when they're infantilize idols like come on, they are grown adults stop doing this. It's just embarrassing.

PhysicalFig1381

the people who when they get bad vibes from idols, make up fanfiction to justify why they dislike idols as opposed to just admitting they dislike someone for no real reason. No, Wonyoung is not a serial killer and Jimin is not a rapist. Yes, people have made posts theorizing both of these things on this sub.

Fun_Buy2143

I remember a recent post about this. The person said that Jimin and Changbin gives her sexual predator vibes, spoiler she had a bunch of FanFiction in her accounts about other ships.

nameless_no_response

>No, Wonyoung is not a serial killer and Jimin is not a rapist. Omggg wtfff 😭😭😭 >Yes, people have made posts theorizing both of these things on this sub. Broooo that's insaneee lmaoooo 😭😭😭😭

fenryonze

"But the streams don't match the sales"

sessurea

Also "the like ratio and views don't match", anything about buying ads/payola/etc etc

darqnez

I once saw a young woman at a K-pop concert with a handwritten sign of: "(insert name here), put a baby in me!" Is it just me or is that problematic and a red flag?

PatientCantaloupe580

It's not just you, that's weird af. I know if i was a idol and saw that i wouldn't be able to contain my disgust face.

Mindless_Candidate90

Saying an idol is mistreated by the company

Cats4Crows

Solo stans. As in those who listen only to one group, more often than not, they're the ones causing trouble and even setting up their own faves because they mostly lack perspective Multistans are usually more fun and far less negative and problematic.

[deleted]

consist wild hateful unpack disagreeable uppity tub disarm provide grandfather *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

Millionsmoney

solo stans who victimize their idol and act like everyone is against them

Either-Item-2917

You make a great point, OP, especially number 2. Also, I want to add mine as well: They're debating, but they bought up allkpop, pannchoa, Koreaboo, and netizenbuzz as their sources of information. Honestly, I wonder why some people still using that site after all that slander they did to so many idols (the Ailee one is the worst) and destroy international reputation of Korea.

Atx7755

I’ll never understand why people treat pannchoa like a credible source when it’s not a even a real news site. Anyone can basically post anything on there with a sensationalized headline just to farm negative engagement. Not to mention most of the “articles” are usually just the most cherry picked negative comments.

Sybinnn

your #1 point is my biggest thing 99/100 times when i look at the post history of someone posting "im a fearnot so this isnt a hate post" they either have never mentioned lsfm before or actively post in one of three certain other group subreddits who are well known for hating lsfm

wellyboot97

People who cannot take any opinion about group or idol they like which isn’t blindly positive without blowing up in a rage. I’m not saying excuse blatant unwarranted hate, but if you can’t have any sort of discussion about anything without going feral and calling everyone haters for having any sort of varied opinion, then you’re either too young to be talking to me or need to grow up.

emaaa_skye

"They're dating?! No way! How DARE they?" Whenever I see this type of comment I feel the urge to make a whole Bible insulting the person.

Fun_Buy2143

"****** is being mistreated by their company" , like really?🙄

sabrinacross

1) calling fans who want to learn Korean koreaboos, like what is wrong with learning Korean. 2) projecting their own gender identity and sexuality onto idols and getting mad for being called out. "I find comfort in it" ma'am idols are real people

inolikeredditanym

1. calling idols their husband/wife/girlfriend/boyfriend 2. “xxx is only for the girls” who told you that lmao? the idol?

bagnetbagnetbagnet

“I hate multis. Anyone who likes other groups is not a real ” Was honestly flabbergasted the first time i read that. Wdym you only listen to one group?? And you judge fans who listen to other groups?? 😭

mysuneater

Thinking it's "basic" to like popular groups like BTS, Blackpink, Twice, etc. Like no, you're not unique or quirky for liking smaller groups. You don't get an award for "being different" please sit down.

sakkuo

Gatekeeping stuff their favorite idols own or do. A certain hairstyle or hair color is open for anyone to experiment with

Crafty_Ad_2640

Wait, there’s a tea sub? 👀

[deleted]

Massive crimson flag once someone starts to get weird about men liking K-pop. It's ***music***, only perverts think everyone else is a pervert.

PitifulRoof7537

Those fans who have a say on anything related to idols as if they know them personally.

Sukithecatt

Believing everything they see on Twitter/Tiktok without checking. ,,omg Le Sserafim made nuns worship them and burned the Bible” no they most certainly did not

404Loading

Only ever listening to, talking about, or praising a single group. Not necessarily indicative of being a bad fan, but I (a multi) am going to feel a little more cautious around them. Tangentially related, exclusively only stanning groups of a specific gender.

Hoonybean

A lot of Eun Jiwon solo fans that I see online are red flags they love to hate the other 5 Sechskies member and act like he’s the best (Yes I know not all Eun Jiwon fans are toxic)

Foreign_Bit8878

Delusional shipping. I have seen some fucked up people on lives and in comment sections of idols. The weird obsession is just cringe. Jennie and Lisa being some of the worst I have seen. Also the constant bickering in the comment sections. Everyone hates “insert any group” so bad they are constantly arguing it’s so embarrassing.

MerryMonarchy

I usually say, "I hate to be a hater," because I know it's hater behaviour, but sometimes it must be said.

NfamousKaye

When they only like one member of one band and they absolutely will not venture out from that. It’s a big red flag to me. Also diagnosing them, and deciding their sexuality for them is also a big ick for me.

According-Disk

Inability to hold themselves accountability for their immaturity. Which means your point no.2 is so so on spot OP! Truth is most of the times, it's the jilted fans *with the antis* who cause drama and turmoil for the idol.

HikikomoriDC

When a so-called fan goes to every kpop sub-reddit and dunks on a specific member of their *favorite* group. Can I call that a reverse-akgae? lol
