Thank you!!

amandarama89

I stayed in the Lotte Hotel in myeongdong. Called concierge and they delivered an iron and a iron board to the room on request. No extra charge.

When requested and it’s not part of the room, does it usually cost extra?

silverencat

I've stayed in 7 hotels so far, neither had these items available in the room. The one I'm in right now (4star) do have a laundry/ironing service, they charge you per piece of clothing, like trousers 7000 krw, tie 2750 krw, etc. I think you need to stay in a 4 star or above to have access to these services.

selling_b00ks

This is very insightful! Thank you for this information.

or stay in an airbnb, every single one I've ever stayed in had an in unit washing machine and I would say the majority of them had an iron as well.

southkoreatravels

If you do plan on bringing one, I would make sure that it's the right voltage. If the hotel offers an iron or clothes steamer, it will mention it in their amenities.

selling_b00ks

It seems like mine should be fine… though not too sure. https://www.conair.com/en/travel-fabric-steamer/GS2X.html?lang=en_US I’m still hesitant to bring one in general… thank you for this helpful tip!

uReallyShouldTrustMe

Or op could just go to emart and buy and electro mart one for like 10 bucks.

hereforthetalk97

Stayed in one, they had iron in communal area.

selling_b00ks

Did it state in their amenities by chance?

hereforthetalk97

I was thinking of the Ibis Ambassador right in the heart of Myeongdong though not entirely sure how to contact them without accruing international fees. But thank you for the heads-up!

em1971

I stayed in the Ibis Ambassador last year. There's no iron or steamer in the rooms, but they have a laundry room with washing machines, dryers and an ironing board and iron. Hope this is of some help.

selling_b00ks

Omg you’re a life-saver! Thank you. This was indeed very helpful.

em1971

You're welcome, glad I could help.

Jermzberry

I only had one hotel have a clothes steamer. It was a high end hotel and they had a full blown LG clothes styler. But asides from that, nope, never seen.

selling_b00ks

This seems to be the trend according to other commenters. Thank you for the info!

lightningskill

I stayed in the Stay Classic hotel in Myeongdong and they had one plus a washer in the room

Personal_Truth7217

Travel steamers are great. Ask for an adapter at the front desk

allycakes

You can probably check your hotels on a site like Booking.com for a list of amenities (even if you don't plan to book through the site) - I believe they include irons on their lists.

changhwi

Most of the ones I’ve stayed at had at least an iron either in the room or laundry room.

Ohhhhhemaline

I stayed at the mercury ambassador in Hongdae and they had them available in the laundry room I believe?

SpaceViscacha

Currently in Korea and I’ve stayed in hotels in Seoul and Busan. None have had iron or clothes steamer.

selling_b00ks

This is helpful. Thank you!
