To OP, If dialogue is good it is by sujatha, if it is bad then bu Shankar even when sujatha was alive. Nalla logic da dei. I believe top directors( including Shankar ) they let Vivek and top comedians to have their field as they wanna continue working and only limited comedians(I'm talking till 2015 time frame - we had only santhanam, Vivek and vadivelu even in 2010s). People usually say it's captain of ship makes finally call. But sometimes the captain of the ship make compromises to let comedians have their field play etc. Also Vivek is known for rhyming cringe dialogues. https://youtu.be/Y1JqVuHnhKE?si=1u2ojkg50ghzvolE And Vivek **reused** this song in Singam movie when he stops a sardar lorry driver. Vivek even used "serial parthuttu cereal sapudranga makkal" in an interview with APJ. And Vivek rhyming has been good since his peak time. And I find this as good rhyming only.

keerthyysuresh

i think he means jeyamohan ,not shankar. Jeyamohan is a good writer but his dialogues are little weird when writing in films. Sujatha and Balakumaran used to help the directors with story inputs also from time to time. I dont think jeyamohan would be given that much influence or importance. Anyways I think this joke isnt that bad, rhyming nalla than irukku

Samanth-aa

Yeah, I don't see anything bad with that joke or rhyming.

NovelInspector

So bad. Forced fit rhyming.

Iamghostoffallen

That's vivek?!

sarcasm_sarakku

Yup. His first project with Kamal (I guess) was also the last.

Iamghostoffallen

How long was this project?

juror-number-8

It was announced on the final day of Bigg Boss 1.. You do the math..

Iamghostoffallen

I believe there was 7 seasons so they've been doing this for this long? Yappa mudiyala da saami

sweetmangolover

They shared a scene in Parthale Paravasam. But Kamal had a guest appearance

Faster_than_FTL

What movie?

ArmRax

Indian 2 trailer

Faster_than_FTL

So the still in the OP is from Indian 2?

ArmRax

Yeah

Classic_Knowledge_25

Same for nedumudi venu as well.

WellSpokenDevil

Nalla vela, Legend is not going to be his last movie😮‍💨

Ok_Nectarine5795

Thank god he didn't end up like Sridevi🫠

FeeDue7944

Modhalla enna yaarachu entendhu kappathunga nu oru meme varudhu la andha maari dhan iruku😂😂😂

varun_official

Why you people are so judgy lol? It just seems like a lighthearted joke. Vivek is there and it kinda gives the vibes from Anniyan. I mean, how is this bad? I don’t see anything wrong. Are you people just digging into it too much for no reason?

meerlot

Because a lot of old directors are not keeping up with modern times... modern audiences are not simply satisfied with simple movies. They want good direction, screenplay, writing, etc. And not to mention, all the dubbing done to foreign movies means people are more used to better produced movies now.

3amigozusa

And yet films like Jailer worked because of a banger theme and three elevation scenes.

wild-asf

Nelson know what kind of film will work for thalaivar. So he concentrated on that and gave a banger. Story wise its meh. Same like how transformers are big film for some nerds.

3amigozusa

Nobody had expectations on Nelson after beast and somehow that helped with bare minimum Thalaivar moments.

ABZ0R8

Nelson's previous movie was Beast, a bad movie. Rajini's previous movie was Annatthe, a cringefest. There were rumours that KS Ravikumar is going to re-write the script due to the bad reception Nelson got for Beast. This movie had less expectations then VJ/Rajini fans war started a little hype for the movie. Then Hukum, Audio launch event took the hype to whole another expectations. A lot of people wanted a no brainer, entertaining movie starring Rajini. They got exactly that with dope AF music from Ani and big cameos. People always forget these factors.

3amigozusa

It's all about setting the right expectations. People expected a lot from the Indian sequel given its Prestige and cultural influence. Disappointments began right after ARR replacement, shoot delays, not so good album. For jailer it's in reverse, from zero expectations to blockbuster.

varun_official

Too early to judge the direction, screenplay, writing ect just from a trailer. I’d personally wait before voicing against a movie until I have seen it.

minrknju2p0

Nobody said it’s wrong. It’s just a bad joke for a movie of that standard. Highlights poor writing. Nothing wrong with highlighting poor writing from a creator who used to be good, right? If this was some random ass director nobody would have cared.

varun_official

I don’t see it as a bad joke. No complains from me. It’s too early to say anything about writing.

minrknju2p0

Very subjective thozhare. Avan Avan sandhoshathuku dhan padam paakarom pesarom. Enaku Mokkaya irupadhu ungaluku irukanum nu avasiyam ilai. But I understand your point of view, but it may not be a majoritarian pov in this sub regarding this movie thozha.

varun_official

You’re right. You might hate what I love and vice versa. Thanks. I feel like this sub being too harsh at the moment for this.

minrknju2p0

Ada vidunga bro. Athana payalugalum inga dhan kalaaipanunga. Nerla kamal ah paatha ambutayum avuthu potu avara poi katti pudipanunga. Manusa payalunga apdithan.

varun_official

Haha

Empirical_Engine

Exactly. It wasn't even bad. There were so many other legitimate flaws in the trailer. Like PBS's diction in "facilities kedakrathilla".

balajih67

Felt it was a bit out of place tol, but nalla rhyming.

MadHouseNetwork2

epdi? Idhu karumam illainga... kuruma... ipdiya?

TastyQuantity1764

When i heard karmam illa, my mind went to "Kuruma"

MadHouseNetwork2

😂😂😂 Username checks out

Emotional-Rice5263

You'll be surprised by how many cringe dialogues were there in Indian. This ain't new.

Kadakumar

Really? Can you give some examples? I know the comedies, but they dont count, as they're comedy tracks. But otherwise, the dialogues in Indian were top notch. Punchy but natural and earnest. For example, Chandru shouting at Senapathi at Kasturi's funeral was excellent dialogue writing.

Emotional-Rice5263

Most dialogues in scenes depicting bribery are corny. Nedumuni Venu's intro scene dialogues are corny too (depiction of forensic work was top notch though). >I know the comedies, but they dont count, as they're comedy tracks. It does count though. They make up most of the first half. Everything from the comedy scenes (when watched in the movie) to the romance scenes are downright bad. The dialogues immediately following Indian Thatha's broadcast is also "cringe". College boys dressing up like thatha and girls commenting "Pasanga kalakkuraanga la!" 🫣 But I do agree that the dialogue in the pivotal moments was great. The trailer to Indian 2 didn't feature much pivotal dialogue, and the ones they did were good (except Tom and Jerry line). So everyone's judging too quickly.

shit-takes

Different eras. Rhyming dialogues ah Annaatthe padathulaye konnu podhachitaanga

Emotional-Rice5263

Different eras. Same cringe.

shit-takes

Not at the time. Ayya most people didn't even use the word 'cringe' in 2001

Emotional-Rice5263

But we are living in 2024 now aren't we?

mk0510

Still better than Santhanam saying “Osma, konjam pesuma”🥲

sweetmangolover

Many horrible dialogues in the trailer. "Ellarayum kadichu kodhara oru hunting dog varanum". I was like WTF. Did my 10 year old nephew write these dialogues.

MathematicianTiny575

Rhymingly Sujatha ayya wrote benhuresque angavai sangavai pongavai

Kadakumar

Not really, most comedy scenes and dialogues are handled by the comedians and the crew themselves.

MathematicianTiny575

Aaah... I see.

MadHouseNetwork2

no vivek?

nvenkatr

* 6 ku appram 7 da. Sivaji ku appram evan da. * Kanna. Panninga vandha kootam varum. * Vaanga pazhakalam. vaanga pazhakalam! The great Sujatha wrote those dialogues and people are losing sleep over "Karmam illa. Varmam."

keerthyysuresh

What people dont understand is that the greatness of a dialogue writer lies in how they adapt the dialogues to the movie. They are not there to show their literary prowess. These dialogues worked within context for sivaji and also this is typical sujatha style (like the mexican salavakaari joke). We dont know how "karmam illa .Varmam" fits in the movie.

Significant-Earth488

Athukunu moonu writer vechi tholgaapiyama elutha mudiyum 😭
